Was in Vegas for a day and played the Wynn Golf Course on 5/17; got to head back to Vegas this past weekend; won some money in the casino and (so happened to have) had my golf clubs in the car... Why not spend your winnings before giving it back to the casino right? That's exactly what I did!

I had previously had read JohnnyGK's review and I agree, I'll save the play by play for your own finding; but the Course itself has an almost exclusivity feel to it. You drive about 30 mins out of Vegas towards Boulder City; exit the freeway where there's nothing around; go up a street that has a dead end sign before driving up it and greeted with a gate and call box - "Can I help you?" "I've got a x tee time" "Welcome to Cascata"

I self parked my car under a tree and a staff member brings a cart down to pick me up and said if I wanted, they can valet the car if I want and would have my clubs in the car at the completion of my round. You're led up to the clubhouse into what I can only describe as similar to the stage area of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland! It's the indoor staging area with the carts and big double wooded doors that open once you drive your cart close enough to the door; There's a water feature that starts from the top of the mountain past the driving range, down and around the putting green and THROUGH the atrium type clubhouse.

Conditions were excellent on Sunday 5/22. Word of advice, listen to your caddy - Those greens tend to have pretty huge breaks! Play smart on your approach and be below the hole when possible.

Everything is an "experience!" So make sure you've got time to enjoy.

Got to play ahead of a tournament 5/17 and everything worked out perfectly. I had a wonderful and knowledgeable caddy (John); perfect Vegas weather (not too hot); and pretty much had the course to ourselves.

Other than Bali Hai (which is inundated by jets taking up and helicopters taking off and landing) Wynn is the only golf course that's on the strip and takes advantage of incorporating the Vegas skyline into the view of the course. Stratosphere, Palazzo, Wynn, Hilton sign, Venetian - all "in your face" close. I'm a Vegas fanatic, so for some, these views may not be that appealing.

They pay particular attention to landscaping details. Blooming flowers all over, babbling creeks and as I was told, they completely switch out the grass twice a year (Bermuda/Ryegrass).

Conditions were great all around. Greens were fast to me (compared to the CA courses I usually play).

A little pricey with its $500 price tag. But nowadays with the cost of airfares getting ridiculous with baggage fees, it could be well worth it - since the green fee includes loaner clubs (Callaway Razr irons and Diablo Octane Driver/Woods) and shoes.

When I stay at the Wynn, I rarely see anybody playing - so if you're gonna splurge, why not spend it on a course that would essentially be yours for the day?

Day after playing the North Course, I got to play the South. I believe South is more eye candy than the North was. The best memories were Holes 11-13!

The fairways were more narrow than the North Course. Opening holes were nicely lined with trees that isolate you from the rest of the world. There were also a few holes with forced carries that were both challenging and memorable.

Play smart and you'll keep out of trouble - and give you more time to enjoy the scenery!

Had the opportunity to play both courses in one weekend. They have distinctive differences between the two courses.

The facility is certainly a "Newport Beach" facility. Grandiose architecture - Italian villa inspired. I was a little disappointed that the driving range uses a long mat, rather than allowing us to hit off of the grass. Even Oak Creek plays off the grass and mats are secondary.

North Course a few memorable ocean views; but the first thing I remember when I think back about a week ago are the wide fairways are huge Newport homes viewed from the fairways.

Greens were smooth but slow that day. Tee boxes were well kept, as well as the fairways.

A treat to try - but I think I would choose the South Course as my favorite of the two.

I always have mixed feelings about this course - but it's always the same (and I seem to keep coming back - so I guess that's good).

First off - service is top notch! From the Pro shop, to the starter, to food services - all top notch.

I've played this course a few times in the past couple months - whether now or before the rains really started, the fairways have been REALLY thinly cut to the point where the grass is almost there just for color. Lots of divots that need to be tended to. Noticeable wet spots that are getting too much water and not drained/dried well enough. The greens usually roll true, but when I played on 03/28 - I think they're just letting it go until they start aeration next week.

However - Arroyo is one of the few courses in southern OC that offers such a picturesque view of the rolling hills, that's unobstructed by homes. It makes you feel like they carved out this land and has kept civilization out of the way.

I would LIKE the fairways to get a little more TLC - I think only then, you'd get more value for the money.

Played here for the first time on 03/31. Previous reviews of pace of play is no joke! Had an 11:50a tee time - didn't get to the first tee box until 12:30p and it looked like a traffic jam at the tee box - tons of people trying to tee off, no order/starter to help (that's the problem with the "take your money and find a spot" attitude I've found with some golf courses) Probably didn't help that I over heard a fight breaking out on the second hole...

Nevertheless, once you're on that box - all that disappears cause you get to take a look at the near 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean. Throughout your (long) day, you'll continue to see that shimmering blue which was a treat. Who would of thought you can get views that places like Pelican and Trump get for a fraction of the cost!

Fairways were cut pretty thin, but have good color. Roughs were more forgiving than average. Greens rolled relatively nicely (some bumps here and there).

Not certain if I'd be willing to come back - it was a LONG day; backed up at every hole; fivesomes allowed, but not properly spaced by the non-existent starter. But the views are a bargain - you choose.

Played today - some of the fairways are being worked on. I don't think I've ever seen this before; but essentially, there are raised, long lines that run through parts of the fairways; that have a substantial effect on your ball when it lands. It can stop; kick; turn; etc - I remember on Hole 3, I hit a nice drive down the middle and when the ball landed, pooof! Big ball of dirt and the ball kicked sharply to the left.

Other than that (and it being really windy today) - the course was in nice condition. Greens were fast; bunkers were nice; roughs were lush.

Disappointed. I play here every so often and usually it's a nice course. Monday, however, was not the case. Fairways were dried up and the greens looked like they had been spray painted. Divot marks ALL over the place - some municipals have better conditions.

Never was told of any kind of maintenance scheduled - but I think they were trying to cram as many as they can in before doing so. Every hole - the tee box was backed up by a foursome; sometimes two foursomes... Really?!? Not worth the price for Monday's game - hope it is not a new way of running a golf course for them...

Stayed at the Four Seasons and played on Tuesday afternoon. Course was pretty open.
The staff was very friendly; from pro shop, to starter, bag assist, cart girl, and even the marshal - Resort style service all around.
Before your round, it is certainly worth your time to practice putting - Greens are difficult to read.
The rough were extremely lush and green; does its job - but not extremely punishing.
Fairways have probably seen better days. I was a little surprised how dried up the fairways were. Dry & brown - an extreme contrast to what the roughs looked like.
I'm on the fence as to whether the green fees are worth it right now; had it not been for the dried up fairways - it would have been a no brainer.

Played Sunday 11/07 and the course was pretty wide open. The greens seem like they were aerated a few weeks ago; but the fairways were very soggy and soft. I think that the pro-shop and/or starter should have mentioned that the entire course was cart path only - if they did, I probably would have thought twice about playing. But after playing a few holes and figuring out it was going to be cart path only for the rest of the day - I dealt with it.

Some tee boxes were definitely beaten up - They moved many of the tee positions around - but you'll notice the boxes on 1 and 2.

The pace was certainly good - finished in less than 3.5 hours.

The last few times I've played here, I noticed the fairways being dried up and thin - I'm guessing they're trying to change that up now. Hopefully they'll find the right watering schedule soon.

Played the course for the first time today. Courteous service right from pulling into valet. Pro shop was attentive and the Starter was definitely on the ball to make sure everybody had a good time. Lots of holes with great views, almost distracting to the game (but certainly in a good way).

Tee boxes were in good shape, greens were kept up as well - slower that I am normally used to, even after practicing for a little bit at the practice green. Bunkers had a good soft sand, but were often inconsistent - and believe me, I got to try a lot of them today (unfortunately).

It's certainly a challenging course, especially for a resort course. I don't know, however, if I would play at full price.

First time to Lake Tahoe and as I was driving to the Hotel - I drove by the course and from what I saw from the street, I knew I wanted to play the course! Confirmed that feeling even more when other out-of-towners complemented the course too. So I got a last minute Saturday (9/4/10) twilight tee time out (finished in perfect time).

Once you step out onto the first hole - you'll know - the combination of the sport with nature's beauty is almost harmonious.

Greens were consistently fast (other than Hole 7 - which probably does not get much light all day). Fairways were well taken cared of; roughs are challenging but forgiving.
Hole 3 was my favorite throughout the day - Par 5, dogleg right, with the green elevated and encompassed by a forest. - UNTIL I saw the approach shot on 16 and the par 3 17! (Jokingly gives new meaning to water hazard on the right side of 17).

I can not possibly see how anyone would not like the course - certainly worth the time and money. Although there are certainly other courses in the area that I would like to try (Check out North Tahoe) - if somebody asked me to play Edgewood again - I wouldn't think twice.
