Temporary first green.

Practice putting green is under repair. Many of the greens have areas where they are being repaired.

Tee boxes are lumpy and divot filled.

Somewhat dried out course....but it is also summer time and hot out.

Played today 1/14/16. Lumpy, un-level, divot filled tee boxes. When standing at tees, you can feel the divots. Fairways is back to the pre-tribal condition. Really poor shape with bare spots with grasses which does not appear that they intend to have. Many divots in landing areas. Greens overall good with some bumps. Sand traps good. Overall....not in very good shape tee to green except for the putting surface. which is ok.

Course is in the process of a change in ownership. Fairways are not in great shape, going dormant and not overseeded so it will only get worse as winter hits. Bare spots. Divot marks. etc. Tee boxes are not level, divot marks, and grass is unevenly mowed. Greens were punched earlier than many other courses during the season, yet there are greens that aren't doing so good. Golf cars are horrible and where they use duct tape to patch holes in the seats.

Ball marks and chewed up tee boxes because the course is doing more tournaments for casual golfers. Also the tournaments are happening on weekends which essentially shuts the course down to public play (example was 5/19 where no play). Carts are getting worn with breakdowns. And if you play weekends expect 5+ hours

Started to play the course again...and here is what I found.

Played it four times over the past three weeks and it is S-L-O-W play. The fastest round was 4.75 hours. Slowest...a tad over 5.5 hours! Whoa. A wait on every tee!

The greens are somewhat chewed up. Somewhat soft...and you can see footprints. What is worse are the holes. Seems like the patrons are digging their balls out of the holes with their putters. Many holes don't have edges...and the others in my foursome was digging with putters. Group ahead...digging with putters too. On all four recent rounds I have seen this...so it appears the patrons are adopting the method of digging in the holes.

The tee boxes are not too level. The fairways are somewhat worn and with divots.

Again...the slow play is the worse part.

There are flying bugs everywhere! Most I have seen at any course in San Diego County.

The starter will not get you going on your round...but also offer bug repellant...kid you not. The roving marshall will not only offer water....but repellant. When you are swinging...they will buzz your ear and try to enter your nose. I believe I also ate a few accidently.

If the bugs don't get you....there is also a smell coming from the creekbed.

Does anyone know which months this occurs? I have heard that this has been a past issue.

Another airplane crashed on the course on Sept 22nd. Second plane in two years. This one was up above the 16th tee box.

What is scary about this course is that airplanes take-off path is right above the course. So you will be swinging...and there goes a plane. Also...there are powerlines throughout this course. All which distracts from play.

What is especially weird are the tiered greens with huge spines (think windmills) which take away from skill and brings in luck. Yes...I agree that the skill is in executing on the approach shot below the hole...but luck still abounds because the number of spines and rolling breaks.

The course isn't as tight as many are indicating...you won't be losing a bunch of balls.

As for the previous comment about the scorecard being reversed at some online sites....the course has two nines. Sometimes they have players start on "#10".

Course is pretty good. Greens roll true. Only comment is that the fairways are soggy. Too soggy to where the ball doesn't roll, gets imbedded and have to play summer rules during September.

Course is WAY out there....a long drive from anywhere...especially with the current price of gas. Pretty interesting layout...but some are where you would expect to see a windmill on the putting green. Somewhat gimmicy.

Greens may be discolored as many mentioned...however they tend to roll pretty true. Maybe they need to rotate the holes a bit more...looks like it was used for a few days in the same location and all stomped on.

Traps are pretty good...fairly consistent. Could use some more directional flags to guide the first time player...for blind shots.

Make sure to take a windshirt...it get really windy out there.

Didn't find a level blue tee box. Some where where the ball would be close to a foot above/below my feet...which does not make for a good tee shot. Also pretty chewed up...didn't fill divots with sand.

The greens were nice...pretty firm and rolled true. Sand traps were nicely done...consistent and with sand. Fairways maintained with a few divots.

No GPS and not very many marked sprinkler heads. Could also use some directional fairway flags for blinds shots.

Overall...still a good course to play. Just need a little housekeeping for the tee boxes.

Layout is great as it requires shot making. Not just slape it around and score. Need to be able to strategically place each shot. Playing from black tees is one of the toughest in all SD County. And agree...greens are slow. If they could only speed them up.

RB Inn is ok. Nice near the clubhouse, friendly staff, and the ability to have fine dining. As for the golf course, I would rate it as average for layout and challenge. Greens were ok...but a little bumpy and inconsistent because it was punched/sanded a few weeks ago. Traps were pretty good...but a little inconsistent (some softer...some crusty. Even when you dig your feet in for a read...the area by the ball will be different than where your feet are). Challenge of the course...not that difficult. Yes...traps are nicely where the landing areas are and greenside bunkers...but the layout is rather wide/generous and rough isn't that difficult. Distance markers are not accurate (used laser to verify they are off)

Overall...I would say that if you are interested in a challenging golf course...this is average. If you want a leisurely easy going round might be slightly above average. Conditioning...slightly above ave.
