Played the front 9 holes here on feb. 21. I did the "walk-the-wells" program listed on their website which is $25, after 3pm on the celebrity walking. Even for 9 holes, this was a deal you can't beat. I'm a walker/carrier at my home course so was happy to at least walk a few holes in my palm springs retreat after so many cart-rides. they also give you a stainless steel water bottle to keep and there are plenty of ice/water machines on the course to quench your thirst.

The clubhouse is quite far from the first tee so they were able to give me a lift up there, but as for the walk of the front 9, its really not that bad if you're an experienced walker.

From tee to green the course was in fantastic shape, and the layout is excellent. the greens were a little bit beat/ball-marked but for that late in the day i expected it. still rolled very nicely though.

other than that i really dont have any gripes. Finished the walk in 2 hours for the front (played alone), and could have been way faster but i had a group ahead of me hacking their way around. Was nice to take in the sights and surroundings however with the extra time i had to kill.

definitely will be back!

Played here Feb.21 (8:00am) and Feb.22 (10:30am)

both days were perfect weather for golf, and the course was a treat to play. we did a stay and play package with the fantasy springs resort and booking tee times etc was easy and perfect.

Both days the course was in fantastic shape. From tee to green, the grass is lush, well manicured, and tough to find any bare/thin spots. really enjoyed seeing such a finely manicured course. The greens were rolling quite well although like any course sees unrepaired ball-marks from other golfers.

Holes are a little close to one another so a few errant shots end up coming your way, but just a small gripe in the grand scheme of things.

Overall the staff was good (guys in the pro-shop could SEEM a little bit more friendly) but everyone else out there was polite and helpful.

the only issue i had with this course was that on our 10:30am start, the round was 30 minutes behind on pace (4:21). waiting on every shot for 5 minutes was definitely a let-down on an otherwise beautiful day and course. the marshall was doing what he could to get things on track, however, he said it's due to the course loading everyone on at 8 minute tee-time intervals when it used to be 10. he encouraged me to leave my complaint with the pro shop since they wont change back unless they get some feedback on it.

in the future, i would definitely play here again, but would be in one of the first groups out to ensure i'm not out there for 5+ hours again.

a must-play at this price though!

Played here on Feb. 20/2012. 12:54pm start on a hot deal from golfnow. $76 cart inc. well below the other GN rates as well as the rack rate. couldn't pass up the chance to play at that price.

the resort area is very nice, entrance/parking area all nice. bag drop/cart loading all clean and well-staffed, easy to find your way around. By the time i got there around noon, and hit the range, most of the grass stalls were already beaten up quite badly, otherwise would have been a decent practice facility. a nice short game area and the practice greens were ok as well.

LOTS of bunkers on this course, and we'll get to that in a second. Overall the layout of the course is pretty challenging, and its not a boring track either. however, i did have a few gripes with the course at least after reading other experiences compared with mine.

1) Teeboxes - we played 1 tee short of the tips and as far as i can remember i had a tough time finding a flat area for me to tee up on most of the holes. i expected a little better than that.

2) Fairways - quite a few thin spots on the fairways, but overall "ok".

3) Rough - Seemed to be almost non-existent, cut quite short. probably ok for a resort course, but at the same time on some holes where you might expect the rough to stop your ball before heading into a water feature, it just rolls right in.

4) Bunkers - I don't mind a ton of bunkers, but i do mind when they're not in fairly good condition or are inconsistent. The bunkers did not seem to be well raked, the sand quality was just fair, and alot of them were quite thin in sand volume. makes for a tough day when you're probably going to be in the sand multiple times through your round.

5) Greens - Rolling at an ok pace however were quite ball-marked and spike-marked for our noon round. i fixed plenty ball marks throughout the day.

6) GPS - compared to the other courses the GPS here is just a screen showing you front/middle/back yardages to the green. no hole information, no course layout on the card even. If you want info on the actual course layout, shell out the extra $8 to get the yardage book in the pro shop.

Staff was helpful and nice, and we did the beverage cart regularly throughout the round, enough for it to not be a concern if you needed something.

Overall, the whole experience for me turned out to be "ok". i think my expectations were a little better from the reviews here, but maybe i got it on an off-day or something. For the price i paid, i figured it was fair, but if i had paid anywhere near the rack rates i don't think i'd be impressed. If you can score a good deal, its probably worth checking out as an option, if not, lots of other choices to go with.
