RSJ punched their greens on Tuesday, March 7th. Although they are freshly punched and sanded, the greens still rolled decently enough to putt on them. There are some really bad spots on some fairways, but other than that the course was in decent shape.

I didn't expect a round where we didn't wait and flew through the course, but my God San Juan Hills, get your crap together. First off, the two employees I encountered, the pro shop cashier and the starter, need to take a course on customer service. I understand the starter needs to get people out on the course, but have some manners and act like you want to be there at least a little bit. It frustrates me because the starter is pushing people out to stay "on time", but then all the people do is sit on the course. There were no marshals out there, no one cared about pace. The front 9 took 3 hours and 10 minutes, after that, we just turned and played 1 - 5 again. Have some respect for yourselves and don't stack people out on the course. The first par 5 took 35 minutes to play and we almost were hit on the fly by a ball from the group behind us. This place is a joke. Only decent thing on the course were the greens, and even then, too many lazy people who don't fix anything. Sorry, but I have nothing good to say about SJH.

The staff is nice here, never had a problem with them. The practice facility works if you don't mind mats. Other than that, I can't say anything positive about RSJ.

Tee'd off as the first group on a Saturday morning, played the front at what should be POP everywhere, but it's not, of 1.5 hours. When we approached the 10th tee, there were multiple groups on the tee box waiting. I found this strange, so I asked the starter what was going on and he replied "They are playing the back 9 only".

I find it incredibly pathetic and greedy that RSJ would let groups play the back after a certain time in the morning. The reason people wake up so early and pay the premium rack rate at courses is for one simple reason, Pace of play. We get up that early and tee off in the dark so we don't have to wait. Again, pathetic RSJ. When I questioned this to the starter he had no words to say back, just sat there.

I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone who actually enjoys golf.

The course just finished their fall maintenance and they did a spectacular job. The course is looking excellent. I was told they are going to be mowing down the rough and fairways a little more coming up, as they were a little long in some areas, especially the rough. A couple of times we watched our drives land, but still couldn't find the ball in the rough. Tee boxes were level, well kept and overall terrific. The fairways were as green as could be, no bare spots to be seen. The greens were also very well maintained, rolled very true. We played in the afternoon though, so we did see a lot of foot traffic on them, but still, they rolled true. Overall, I would highly recommend Tijeras. My only negative comment would be the POP. We finished in about 5 hours and change... Which in my mind is incredibly too long. I knew it was a Sunday @ 12:15 pm though, so i wasn't too frustrated. If courses would just allow more time between groups, we could alleviate this issue. Other than that, amazing course, great staff and a great round of golf.
