Played 7:12am 5/4/13. Excellent course with good prices. Weather was in the 90s with light/moderate winds. Conditions are very good overall but the greens were a bit slow. Probably from being a touch too long. Should have made for easier putting, but having played PGA West the day before threw my distance control out of whack. I kept trying to make the adjustment but my body wouldn't listen. Starter was friendly and knowledgeable. Bag service was great.

Some minor complaints: No real driving range, just a net. No gps in the cart. Didn't see the cart girl that day.

None of that should stop you from coming out here though. Course plays nicely, just pick the right tee box for your ability and you'll have fun.

Played 3pm 5/3/13. Beautiful course and facility. It doesn't get much better out here in southern california. Service was excellent. Even as late as we played, they were great. Bag service was nice, expecially for me since I play mostly munis. Weather was quite hot in the upper 90s low 100s but not unbearable and not uncommon for la quinta. Pace was good initally, but slowed considerable after a few holes - but we weren't surprised given time of day. Because of this, we ended up just playing the front again instead. Cart GPS system was touch screen and one of the nicer ones I've seen with the ability to give you yardage to any spot you tap.

Conditions were amazing. Very green and maintained beautifully. Every sprinkler head on the course was precisely trimmed not just the greenside ones, that's how much attention to detail they put in. The greens were a little brown in color but smooth and quick nonetheless. Fairways were like carpet and rough was a nice medium length and consistent. Tee boxes all level and lush. Sand was good overall, but some were a little crusty.

Layout was fun and challenging at times. Not as difficult or punishing as I was expecting which was nice. Unfortunately, only saw the front nine so cant comment on the back. Island green par 3 is gorgeous. Some elevation changes to deal with but nothing too extreme. Definitely tempting opportunities to go for it in 2 on the par 5s from where we played.

Just a gorgeous course. Definitely worth the price just to experience it no matter how you end up playing. Of course, even better when you can find a deal. Cant wait to go back again.

Quick review. Played 2/9/13, 8:30am. Pace was excellent for mid morning, even with fivesomes around us. Finished in just over 4 hours. Saw the marshall twice and he seems to making a huge difference. Kudos Mile Square, keep it up. It was a beautiful day, sunny and in the upper 50s with mild wind. Course conditions were good especially in light of hard rains the night before. Very few soggy areas and the greens quite firm. They were medium speed and smooth. Very decent conditions for winter. Wide welcoming fairways and relatively flat course makes for a relaxing round where it all comes down to putting. A fair number of trees line the fairways but they're not hard to come out of.

Played 1/31/13, 12:30pm. Beautiful weather, 70 degrees gusts of wind here and there ~5mph. POP was right around 4hrs. Pretty good for a foursome, although we could have finished faster. There was a twosome we constantly had to wait for but it's normally faster POP on weekdays according to regulars.

Teeboxes were relatively flat but not much grass to be found. Fairways and rough are also showing the seasonal dormancy. Greens however are in very good condition. Lush and receptive, medium fast, and some are tricky. Subtle breaks may or may not affect your line. Pay attention to the direction of the grain! Bunkers are mostly hard and crusty - what I like to call "fake sand". Play them accordingly. Course layout is wide open with very little chance to lose your ball. Fairways are wide and welcoming. A relaxing, fun course. Yardage can get to mid 6k if you play back tees. Lots of short par 4s allow you to attack the pin. Challenge comes in the medium elevation changes. Choose your landing spot or be forced to hit your approach from a sloping lie.

Great course where you won't find much trouble makes for an laid back, enjoyable round where you can score low. I just wish there was something like this closer to where I live.

Played here on 1/19/13. Tee time was 8:28am but got out closer to 9am. On top of that, they jam as many people in as possible. This made for a ridiculously long round of more waiting than playing(6+hrs) and it's not a long course. The only nice aspect of this course is the condition of the greens. They are fast and smooth, however, by the placement of the pins you would think it was Sunday at the US Open. Four or five were placed on crests of hills or in the middle of a severe slope so that if you didn't drill the cup, your ball would slowly trickle back 12 feet towards you. To make things worse, people were not giving up after a few failed attempts at bunker hill. This resulted in a huge backup on the par threes. Imagine one group refusing to pick up, one group 50 yards from the tee box(80 yards to the green) waiting to hit on from a failed tee shot, one group waiting to tee off, and three groups spectating from carts waiting in line. Can you say cluster F? The layout is also frustrating. Did I mention the wait is at the intersection of holes 1,2,7,8,17, and 18 - yes, you read that right. You can imagine the chatter that goes on with this many people waiting around. Great practice for distractions when your at the Open this year. Add to this some narrow fairways, blind water, severe doglegs with no distinction between rough and fairway to guide you, and bizarre fairway tree placements that will penalize good tee shots and you have San Dimas.

Some highlights: cart lady came around plenty of times, sand in bunkers was soft and fluffy, again, greens were in nice condition, and gps in carts is a bonus. One note about the gps, it didn't show distance to the group ahead and that is crucial during slow play. Also, the sponsorship message after every hole that you have to click ok to is a bit much.

Funny thing, after paying my buddy noticed that on the receipt they offer a discount for your next round. Now I know why. They need every reason to get you to come back. Personally, I don't care if it's free. I won't drive out there to subject myself to that again. There are much better courses, stay away unless you're prepping for the Open.

Played 12:30pm 12/10. Conditions were very decent. Tee boxes could be in better shape in terms of divots although didn't have to look too hard for a level spot. Rough was a good medium length. Greens were medium speed and bumpy but that was expected from the late tee time. Some unrepaired ball marks here and there and old poorly repaired ones. Sand was acceptable. Pace was pretty good at right around 4:15, but I what I really want to highlight is the service. The starter was right on with informing us of the pace of play and got us out right on time. I was also impressed that they had not only a marshall working the course late (4pm!) but that he called out my buddy for partially driving through a tee box while looking for his errant shot. Some might be annoyed about that, but for me it shows that they care about maintaining the conditions of the course. Plus, he was polite and professional about it while trying to maintain pace during the last few holes - great job! Finally, cart girl made it around three times with the last one around 4pm! Again, great service compared to some courses where the girl is gone by early afternoon. Keep it up Brookside, I'll be back.

Played on 11/3 at 1:15pm. Conditions were very nice with some thin spots in the fairway and greens. Tee boxes were nice and level. Layout is challenging. Many risk-reward situations. Caught a slew of bad breaks which left a bad taste in my mouth, but I'm sure it's thrilling when the ball rolls the other way too. Because of this, I liked the Legends course better though.

Again, conditions, service, weather, and everything else were great. $25 for replay is very decent and totally worth the drive out. Will definitely make it back.

Played 11/3 in the AM. Conditions were stunning esp for this time of year when almost everyone is aerating and overseeding. Course can be looong if you play the tips. We played blue and it was very enjoyable. Good layout and many holes that reward those who can draw the ball off the tee. Can't complain about anything. Service, course, weather were all very nice. Highly recommend making the drive out. Played Champions as well the same day but recommend Legends over Champions layout.

Played 9/3/12 at 7:30am. Pace was slow for this Labor day despite the group in front only being a threesome. Finished right around 12:30pm. Conditions were very good tee to green. Greens are soft and very receptive. Very few unrepaired/misrepaired ball marks. They were slow in the morning, but as it dries it turns to medium fast. Some greens are tricky to read. If it's important, check the back read. Fairways were good, albeit narrow and challenging. I noticed a couple swampy areas where drainage is an issue, but they were not in heavily travelled areas. Rough was thin at times and bumpy causing difficult lies. This is especially punishing if it's around the greens and you have a short chip. Tee boxes were some of the flattest over all that I've seen and they do a good job rotating. Only downside was the abundance, and I mean literally millions, of gnats. They swarm in groups of hundreds all over the course. Also, the heat made for a sweaty round, though the cart girl came around twice.

As far as playability, many times driver is not the best club to hit if you're not the straightest - wood or hybrid ends up being the club of choice off the tee. Fairways can be narrow and additionally there are usually fairway bunkers right in the danger zone of 250 yds. Lots of elevation changes can make you question your club choice and do a little math with yardage. Lots of trees protect the holes and make for a beautiful course, but good luck finding it if your ball goes in. Not much wind when I played.

Played back nine today, 7/28/12. Conditions were good overall. Tee boxes could be more level but not bad for what it is. Fairways were in good condition. Rough was poorly mowed with lots of sloppy cutting where depth was too severe and almost all the way into the ground. Maybe they are training new staff?? Greens were in excellent shape except for the many unrepaired/improperly repaired ball marks - hence a little bumpy. Rolled fast even when wet, cant imagine when dry - yikes! Pace was terrible because of slow foursome in front. 3 hours for back nine is not acceptable. As they finished 15, the next group in front of them finished 18 - not cool. Marshall just drove by.

Played two rounds 7/16/12. 6 - 6.5 is fairly accurate. Nice views and challenging course. Tee boxes are fairly level. Some fairways have MANY GURs. Greens are soft and not bumpy. Drainage is an issue in some areas. Very few poorly repaired ball marks. Pace is good in the morning. Finished solo in under 3 hours and just over 4 hours as a foursome.
