Played the always interesting Desert/Canyon 9s this time around. Conditions were impeccable. Even with recent different timing of aerification of greens, both 9s rolled true and moderately fast. The fairways on the Canyons were a bit fluffy so less roll out there.
Staff was friendly as usual...had a couple waters in my cart for use around the course. It was a seasonably cool 100 here with a nice breeze. The GPS which they have not always had, is a good addition here (unless you already have a gps app going for you) as there are some places you simply cannot go on this relatively short course. It isn't a course to just go around hitting driver all day, not by any stretch.
Happy to say I missed every bunker today so yeah to that. The fellas who found them hit some nice shots out so they must have been excellent...haha!

Next stop is a Vegas trip...yeah!

Hot and sticky day...great conditions except, on this day, the greens were very firm...couldn't hold shots into the middle of the greens and that made for a long and difficult round. The greens themselves were on the level of 12 or so, very true. They had marks all over them, but were well fixed by the golfers/maint crew. I normally fix three per green and couldn't find that many but a couple times. There were no bare spots to be found anywhere about the course.
The bunkers were somewhat inconsistent. There were a few thinner depth spots and a handful of very deep and fluffy areas, seemingly in what would be lesser utilized spots, such as the par 3 6th and the far right portion of the right hand bunker. Alas, no reason to really be there but it was a quagmire of a spot for my pushed iron. Note that I am quite a good bunker player as well. So two GIRs missed due to hard green surfaces and then that issue over my opening 6, and I was in a bad mental state the rest of the day. That is the problem with playing when it is HOT! Tough to focus as it goes south We are planning a return trip to exact revenge. Hopefully the greens will be somewhat receptive.
As always, a most friendly staff, as it is with Troon courses in the valley!

Superb conditions all around. Not a speck of anything out of place. The rough was fluffy and of modest depth...the fairways very lush, with not much roll-out...the bunkers pristine...the staff friendly as always. The greens were about 10.5 according to my Aim Point calculation, with readable grain that wasn't enough to effect putts more than a cup or so even on longish putts. The staff is excellent and the Sivlik Grill, esp with their Sivlik burger, an excellent lunch with fantastic ambience.

Played today and is in good shape, with teeing grounds and fairways excellent. The green speed was kinda slow/bit grainy. There were a couple bumpy rides for balls on the way to the hole. There were some very thin spots on the mounds found throughout the course, including around the greens. As well, said thin spots included the mounding framing the fairways (i.e. the 'rough'). My playing partners had some horrible lies within a few yards of the greens on a couple occasions, due to thin/clumpy turf. Other than that, all playable. The bunkers had ample sand. Pace was excellent though we were second out after a tournament. At our own pace, went about 3:40

Played July 7th. Great Troon managed facility which was wide open today, after their recent (and ongoing) aerification. Even so, while the greens were punched/sanded, they rolled very well on the front (two days after maintenance) and so/so on the back (one day after maintenance, which was ongoing with sanding. I missed a couple putts on the back that hit upon sandier areas. Yet, the front was so good that they both should be fine from here on out. The bunkers, while more than ample in number, were in excellent shape for sure!

Just played July 13..good shape with greenest greens one can expect during a dry mid summer. That said, that also means somewhat slow with lots of grain. It's either that or cut em thin and watch them get spotty. I'd LIKE a happy medium but that doesn't normally happen in the valley summertime until monsoon rains have been about for a few weeks. The rest was good...the links style vegetation was hit or miss...stay in the fairway and you'll always miss, though you surely won't 'miss' it as the fellas lost a couple in some thick areas. Not a fan of slow greens but they were playable, apparently having been aerated about three weeks back. The value was solid and, with no water jugs about the course, 50 cent bottled waters a reasonable price. I'd bring your own drink or two as well.

Quality, well manicured product, excellent staff and top of the line practice facility...the players here are mostly better golfers so a round never takes much over 4 hours. Starting to become a bit more penal again on badly errant tee shots due to recent regrowth after having cleared much of the desert earlier this year. This is a welcomed development which adds teeth to the course.

Tough course if you're having a rough day...greens always most excellent and the rest pretty darn well done. Plenty of character about the layout. Summer deals with meal are excellent value (the meal was as good as mid-level restaurant and the selection excellent (had cajun salmon myself)...sign up at their website.
