Played on Saturday 5/16/15 at 4pm. We went out as a two some. Right away ran into slow play, quite frustrating waiting from tee to tee. Overall was good experience. Tee boxes need more grass on them. Course is challenging with occasional wind. What was very surprising was the groundskeeper came by around 7:30 warning us that we needed to end the round. Their was plenty of daylight left. I have never had a golf round end suddenly with daylight stay visible.

Played on Saturday early afternoon. Perfect weather conditions. Course was in great condition. Pace of play was perfect. Starter was very accomodating allowing us to play earlier than scheduled time. Fairways were in pristine condition. Punched greens made putting somewhat of a challenge. Beautiful layout with water on several holes. Interesting grass bunkers on several holes making it a new challenge. Very peaceful out in the San Joaquin Valley. Could use some yardage markers on the course. Overall a very pleasant experience. Will definitely come back to this links style course.

Played this course on 7/7/12. This is a hidden gem in the town of Petaluma. Took advantage of Golf Now discount price of $33 at 3pm. Course is in beautiful condition with mature green fairways and many different green configurations. The wind going toward the clubhouse from the front nine can have adverse affect on ball flight and club selection, in some instances 2 club lengths more. Each hole is different and offers some challenging with many tulli weed obstacles near the greens and near the tee box areas. Course plays about 6400 yards from the blues and and 7000 from the tips. Course is situated on natural habitat surroundings with geese, ducks and jack rabbits migrating the premises. The back nine is extremely beautifully landscaped with small duck ponds and marshlands encompassing the pars. Hole #11 is a scenic par 3 which can be difficult to judge with the strong afternoon winds. The local folk mention to avoid the winds play earlier in the day. I must say it was worth the hour and half drive from the capital city of Sacramento. A definite must play again type course. Not to punishing yet fun and all around golf course experience to be had for the avid and casual golfer. The locals are extremely friendly. Thanks shelbyo for your recommendation of this course.

Diablo Grande is in isolated town called Paterson nearby Modesto. Played the Ranch course on 6/23/12. One of most well kept layouts in the regions. Fairways are immaculate with numerous bunkers and indulations to create strategy from shot to shot. Course is tremendously long playing 6350 yds from the whites and 7260 from the blacks. Narrow fairways make accuracy a must. Several tee top elevation changes from many tee boxes throughout. Par 5s can be punishing. Hole 12 presents an interesting challenge of 640 yards from the tips. Wind changes from hole to hole and is difficult to gauge without the presence of trees. Their is water hazards on several holes. A good course to test your length and accuracy. Areas that need improvement are the snail speed carts. Some greens could use some touch up and sand traps could be better with better grain of sand. Overall a good experience for the purist golfer.

PLAYED THIS SCENIC COURSE ON 6/16/12. NICE LAYOUT WITH WIDE VARIETY OF HOLE DESIGNS, DOGLEGS, NARROW OPENING PARS 3 AND SOME CHALLENGING PAR 5'S THAT HAVE LATERAL DRY CREEK HAZARDS. THE ADJACENT VINEYARDS PROVIDE THE BOUNDARIES BETWEEN FAIR AND OUT OF BOUND ENTRIES THROUGHOUT THE COURSE. ELEVATION CHANGES FROM TEE BOXES TO FAIRWAYS LANDSCAPE BOTH FRONT AND BACK NINES. COURSE IS VERY FORGIVING PROVIDING WIDE FAIRWAYS THAT ARE SEEN ON A LINKS STYLE COURSE. STAFF WAS EXTREMELY COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY FROM FRONT DESK, TO BARTENDER AND GOLF CART RETURN PERSON. THE GOLF CART PERSON GOES BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY OFFERING WET TOWELS AND GREETING US WARMLY AND EXTENDING COURTESY BEYOND THE NORM. IT IS DEFINITELY MUST PLAY COURSE. THE ONLY AREAS THAT MAY NEED ATTENTION ARE THE COURSE SAND TRAPS AND ACCURACY OF THE YARDAGE MARKERS. PRICE OF THIS COURSE IS A LITTLE HIGH.

Played on 6/2 from groupon special of $45 per player. Very demanding and challenging layout. Each hole is unique and different from one another. Wind was blustery and can have a adverse effect on how the hole is played. Often times needed one or more clubs length. Course conditions were excellent, course of play could have been better. Definitely will come back for challenge and unpredictable weather conditions. Tellis Frank.
