Played this course two weeks back for the first time and was very impressed. Growing up in the Inland Empire one tends to get used to playing decent courses for an affordable price, and honestly the OC is far from that. However, this course is one of the best munis i've played and priced really well (for the OC). On to the course. It reminds me of a better General Old and a shorter El Rancho Verde if you have ever played any of these courses in the Inland Empire. Layout is perfect to get around no crazy doglegs or blind shots (if you put yourself in the right spot). Greens hold approch shots well, could roll a little smoother on putts though, but this course does get a lot of play so commit to the line and remember it breaks towards the ocean and hammer it home. Pace of play was perfect they don't stack people up on the boxes like other munis trying to make their money. Great course, great club house, great views, good time.

Hey Golf Fans!

Played this course 3/16/08. Not to many people out, guess people were watching the hoops for the big dance. Overall this course has a pretty good layout. Everything is pretty much in front of you, not too many blind shots, unless your in the opposite fairways. Fairways are hard pan, but they have always played like that. Greens are bumpy something you just have to get used too, but not horrible. Tee boxes were good, i played from the tips though not to many people hitting from there. Bunkers are a mixture of sand and pebbles don't know what the deal is. Overall the course is in decent shape for the price. It's a course that you have to put in in your rotation, maybe not your favorites, but in rotaion to save money, get in a round, and still be challenged.

Hello all!

This is one of the regular tracks we hit just to get around. Played it on the windiest day of this year (03/02/08), could have been ever! Conditions were what you expect for a value course. The round wasn't too long considering the wind scared away the normal weekend worriers. Overall the course conditions were nice, greens not to shabby (Meaning it rolled nice. Your ball doesn’t take a hop, skip, and a jump before it drops) fairways not dried out, tee boxes not to beat up. All in all if you just want to play 18 and work on your game, and not have to worry about spending your kid’s college tuition - This will work! Word to the wise as you know if you catch yourself on a nice Sunday expect to play a slow round.

Be humble,

And try to keep it in the short stuff and if you don’t consider it more practice for next time!

Played this course for the first time 8/6/2006. Golf course has 27 holes in total, played the Meadow and Canyon side. Both sides were up kept nicely from fairways, bunkers (players please rake them), and tee boxes for this time of year. Greens were smooth, fast, and firm some random pitch marks from other players, but if you have a tool in your hand no prob. Some greens look like they where healing on the Canyon side but ball still rolled without any hiccups. Controlling trajectory was a must as winds picked up. Distance control is crucial as there is some forced carries. Blind tee shots are not rare - so aim for the middle, hit, and search. If you are a high hdcp bring a lot of balls if you go astray you will be forced to take a drop. But the big thing at this course is the views mainly on the Canyon side in the last finishing holes. They used the natural terrain to it's fullest potential. Pace of play was 4 1/2 pretty good for the weekend. Paid a pretty good price for a course of this caliber $52 weekend twilight with cart. Don't know if it's worth the full $134 on the weekend. But SD locals get a discount. Overall if you can afford it this course is challenging, fun, and pleasing to the eye (from a view perspective, not from "this hole is cake perspective") So if you have a chance to check it out for a good price you won't be disappointed.

Played this course on 8/6/2006 for the first time. The course is in great shape for this time of year. Fairways are great, tee boxes are great signs of a lot of rounds played but are pretty much level, bunkers I was in one not the greatest of conditions, but let's face it no one should be in the bunker in the first place. Now for the best part! I'm not going to lie! I did not completely understand the "putt rolled true" thing until yesterday. The greens at Cottonwood have to be the nicest greens I have ever putted. Needless to say if you miss a putt you can't blame anything/anyone but yourself. The greens are so good right now mainly because Jr. Worlds were played there a couple of weeks ago. But it was an awesome experience to get to putt on something like that. Nice course just to enjoy yourself. Staff was great, Marshall stopped and had a couple of laughs with us, cart girls should be enough for anyone to come back! (sorry, ladies saw one old guy driving a beverage cart.) Pace of play was slow 5 hours it was the weekend though, didn't seem that long but after looking at the clock it was. Overall I would recommend this course for anyone. Mid price range if you can walk it that would be the way to go.
