My experience with this course was not as negative as others. That being said, the other members of my foursome who had previously played this course were dismayed by its state of maintenance. Parts of the course were parched, while others were soggy. I am willing to cut So Cal courses some slack due to the current water emergency, but IMO they have some issues here with irrigation. The greens were inconsistent - some were OK, but others were lumpy. A lot of ball search time could be avoided by better manitenance of the rough. Some of the fairways showed damage (furrows) caused by mowers. One of our carts did run low on power and had to be pushed in by the other.

On the plus side, there was beverage cart service on the course this weekend. The cart girl was prompt and friendly, but they did not offer sodas or bottled coffees - only beer, Gatorade, and water. There were plenty of Igloo coolers with water on the course. There were towels on the ball washers, but some of them were dry. The pro shop was sparely stocked, but at least the staff was helpful and courteous.

I found the layout to be interesting and challenging, and I would play there again. I hope the course is in better shape when we play it next time.

This is a really nice course. The holes play harder than you'd expect from the yardages. Course management is very important here - you want to choose the right line to the hole. Just a note on the bunkers: the sand is a lot finer and fluffier than the typical SoCal course, so you might want to spend extra time in the practice bunker before a round to get a feel for hitting out of it.

I played this course on May 15th and enjoyed it. The course was in good condition and the greens were in great shape for a public course. "Under-appreciated" was the assessment of my playing partner. Harding may be shorter than Wilson, but it is a challenging course in its own right and just as scenic. It is a shame that it is overlooked by many golfers who frequent Griffith Park. One staffer noted with dismay that most walk-ons if given the choice between waiting an hour and a half to get on Wilson and going straight to the tee at Harding prefer to wait.

The fairways and greens were in fine condition. This course is easily one of the best in Southern California. I was disappointed, however, to find that a couple of the igloo coolers that provided drinking water were dry (it was a warm day) and by the lack of refreshment cart service. Pace of play was slow, mostly due to the usual problem of inept golfers taking too much time around the greens. One note: course policy does not allow waving up the following group on par-3s, according to a marshall.

Played this course Friday. Fear of rain kept the crowds away so I was able to walk on and join up with some other players. Our round lasted around 4.5 - 5.0 hrs. Despite the recent rains, course conditions were good, with a few muddy spots here and there, but the greens were playable and sped up after the sun came out.

This is a great course to walk. One little note: the snack bar is at the 12th hole - a par-3. And watch out for the squirrels. The little buggers will try to grab your food when you aren't looking!

I played an incomplete evening round today. The E.O Nay course is currently undergoing an extensive reconstruction. Several of the fairway bunkers are either being filled in to become extensions of the rough or are being reshaped. Golfers have to be look out for numerous workers along the fairways as a consequence, at least during weekdays. (We had to suspend play a couple of times while trucks crossed the fairway.) The greens were fairly fast and challenging. Tee boxes were in good shape. Fairways were still green, unlike some of the other courses in the area where the draught and consequent water restrictions have resulted in the fairways browning. The pace of play this late Friday afternoon was not too bad, and our group managed to make the turn in just under 2.5 hours.

Best fairways I've seen for hitting fairway woods.
