Three months ago this course was in great shape, but it is now crap! Finding grass in the fairways is rare, bunkers are like hitting off the cart path and the greens are dying. Construction beginning on the new homes on holes 8,9 & 10 is imminent....oh well.

Absolutely the worst maintenance crew. They place the Blue rocks on the back edge of the tee box, so your back foot is in the rough. Whenever there are trees to side of the box, they'll move the markers such that you're hitting straight into them. They never touch the bunkers, which are harder than the cart paths....it's better to take an unplayable and drop behind it. The fairways and greens are very nice....that is the plus. Although we had a worker cutting the rough to the side of us, who was wearing headphones just chewing up fallen branches while he was a mere 10-15 yards away from us. This crew is oblivious to the fact that they are working on a golf course.

The GM has done a lot of work over the past year to bring the course back. The Tee Boxes still need some work and the bunkers have very little sand, but fairways are coming back. The greens roll pretty good compare to awhile ago. That's the good...now the bad. He has hired a bunch of guys in maitainance that have no clue about a golf course and golfers. They are constantly setting up the tee boxes on side hill positions and with trees directly in front of you. They will drive right by you without stopping whether you're hitting a shot or making a putt. One of them carries a mini boom box playing his music. If noise and/or commotion bugs you, these guys will drive you crazy. The course workers here can ruin a good round and take away a fun day. So much for the hard work the GM has put in...

Played here on 10/16 for the first time. The facilities are fabulous...practice areas, pro shop and restaurant are all top notch. The menu at the restaurant was like a 5 star bistro. On to the course, tee boxes were so long and shaggy, you needed a 5 inch tee to get your ball off the grass. I found the fairways to be in pretty good condition, but the sides weren't rough, they were all wet dirt in serious ned of seed. Some bunkers were rock hard, while others(#12) was like the Brea Tar Pits. As a whole, I really enjoyed the layout and design of the course, but not the greens. The greens are very large and undulated...and on our day, it seemed every hole location was on a bump. If you missed a putt by 1-2 feet, your ball would end up 30 feet away...not very fun. I just don't understand how the O.C. golfers are okay with paying $130 weekday and $170 on the weekends for this course. Take a drive to Oak Quarry, Goose Creek or Eagle Glen and play a better golf course for a fraction of the cost. One more example of O.C. golf arrogance and over charging for their product.

I think Woodpen played with blinders on, or he is an employee. As for a new Super, that's a crock. I play here every week and the course has been going downhill for quite awhile. The rates are going up and the conditions are getting worse. The tee boxes need to be redone, the fairways are either barren or waterlogged with ruts being made by players driving their carts through the soaked areas. This used to be a little gem of a course, now it just seems like another business that fell on hard times.

The new G.M.'s work is starting to show. The staff is great and the course is finally coming back to what it used to be like. The fairways have grass, the greens are rolling fine and they are doing work on the tee boxes. The bunkers, however are still rock hard with little sand in them. One big negative is the new company (Wedgewood Banquets) that took over the food services. And now the course makes you pay $5 for food with your greenfees, regardless if you want to eat or not. They have streamlined the menu into barely nothing...so make sure you eat before you come. Roach coaches serve better food.

I am done coming to this dump. We played on Saturday and wished we had gone somewhere else. The minute we walked into the pro shop, all we could smell was dog urine(we were told the G.M. brings his dogs to work...very professional). The tee boxes look like a war zone, the fairways are a joke but at least the greens were still okay. I can't imagine that this course will stay alive much longer the way it is being managed. For the price they charge here, go to Empire Lakes, Sierra lakes or even El Rancho Verde and you'll have a better time.

I played here on Monday afternoon and had mixed feelings. This has always been one of my favorite courses, not only for the layout, but also because of the great staff. As usual, everyone was very friendly and professional from check-in to the bar afterwards. The problem is not only the hard economy, but a new owner who is obviously cutting back on expenses....mainly no watering!! There are so many spots around the course that are very thin and just about dead. I'm afraid that as soon as it gets hot, those thin spots will become just dirt. Just check the area around the ninth green....how can you chip around the green when there is no grass, just hard pan?
Everyone is aware of the hard times right now, but with what they charge, put some money back into the course before this great course becomes no better than a bad muni course.

I played here in another tournament on 10/1. Had a noon shotgun and once again, we were treated to burgers before and banquet afterwards. Job well done to the staff. But what has happened to this place? The tee boxes are worse than before, the greens used to be great but are now bumpier than a dirt road. They used to have clothes, shoes and golf balls to stock up on, now they have nothing. I understand there is a new G.M. in place, I can't say he is doing any good here. Just check out what he's done to the pro shop, it looks like what I would envision a Tiajuana whorehouse with all those ugly drapes hiding who knows what. It's a shame, this used to be a classy little course.

Wow, A course G.M. that doesn't use an alias to toot his own horn (Sierra Lakes), I'm impressed. I played 6/18 and the course is trying to improve. But I see three issues that aren't being addressed. First, no snack bar on the course (#10 is far from the clubhouse), on a hot day one can get very thirsty. Second (and part of #1), didn't see a cart girl. Lastly, the entire course has very few yardage makers, even if they marked the cart path, it would help. Of these three....they really should invest in a snack bar on the course, afterall it would generate more income and take care of those who still play here.

I played in a charity tournament here on 5-12 and had a great time, until the rain started. The course condition has improved of late, but the tee boxes still need some serious work. But considering we were fed burgers before playing and a full dinner afterwards....the Shriners know how to put together a great time. I have to say, it's to bad whoever runs the golf side can't compete with the banquet people. Nice enough course....but a much better banquet!!

I played in their "Day after Thanksgiving" 7am shotgun ordeal. What a cluster****!! We didn't get done until 1pm, come on now, six hours for a shotgun start?? They definately oversold it. How can you be so greedy and so cheap at the same time? The damm G.M. has cut things back so much, he's even eliminated the water coolers that used to be on the course. I won't even think about playing here if it's hot. Empire Lakes, Oak Quarry and Trilogy have G.M's that care about the paying public, not this one.
