This review is for my round played on Friday 4/14. I have played this course many times, and I always enjoy the layout and fantastic scenery. I typically always recommend playing here.

This particular round was probably my most challenging experience, for a variety of reasons.

1) The practice green was closed prior to our tee time, even though there didn't appear to be a reason for the closure (it was open when we returned after our round was over). Not a huge deal, but it would've been nice to get a feel for the greens prior to actually starting the round.
2) On the first tee, the group in front of us was waiting to hit their second shot. The starter proclaimed "go ahead guys, you can't reach them". Umm, sorry, they're ~260 out, downhill, of course we can reach them! We were taken aback by this comment. Sure enough, one of the drives landed right where they were a few moments prior. This rush off the first tee was pointless anyway, since the groups in front would be slow the entire rest of the round (4:40 total time 1 to 18!). The gps-controlled carts don't help things, when the group in front of you drives up to the green to retrieve their forgotten wedge, and then has to reverse back out slowly to get back to the approved area. I get the intent of this feature to protect the course, but it slows the rounds down when people don't know what they're doing.
3) The greens were very sandy, yet actually fairly quick. I'd imagine in another week or two, they'll be amazing. Providing you are able to get a feel for them prior to your round, they are quicker than they would appear, being covered in sand. This didn't come up in any maintenance alert either.
4) The bunkers were hit and miss. The few that I ended up in were in great shape, with tons of fluffy sand. I noticed a few others that were opposite of that. It's nice to see progress here. Historically, the bunkers haven't been the greatest, but they're getting better.

All of that aside, possibly my greatest complaint about the round - and I rarely have complaints here - were the fairways! They were simply awful in places, mud pits really. Be prepared to play winter rules in April. They're usually fantastic here, so I was rather surprised.

Overall, still a wonderful course, tons of fun, and the cart girls are the best in Socal.

4/22/14 was my first time playing this course. It is a fun, challenging track. However, the conditions were less than ideal. While graded okay, the tee boxes were thin and sandy; heavily marked. The fairways were a combination of tufts of grass and hardpan. A solid drive center cut ended up next to a tuft of grass on an awkward lie on more than one occasion. Lots of white stakes. Greens were aerated over a month ago, but still bumpy in areas, and very thin/sandy. Approach shots didn't check at all in most cases, but would bounce high and carry off the green. The three bunkers I ended up in were thin and hard.

Local to Corona, I am used to these types of courses, and I was disappointed in the conditions. They were pretty bad. I wouldn't pay even close to rack rate to play here again. Thankfully I had a 50% off groupon; I would probably say the course rack rate is worth about that.

The staff however, was extremely helpful and friendly, and the carts are really nice. But the grounds need some cleaning up.

Overall, still a fun outing and I would play there again - just not at full price.
