As a native Portlander, Eastmoreland is a track I've played too many times to count and the conditions I experienced today were hands down the best I have ever seen. It was truly amazing to see a place notorious for mediocre conditions and slow play in a "showcase-quality" state with fairways and greens in phenomenal shape.

In years past, Eastmoreland was also famous for for geese and goose sh*t around the course, especially the back 9, but that appears to be a problem of the past as well. I heard a rumor in the clubhouse that the head greenskeeper has changed and that a lot of the improvements can be attributed to that, but whatever they're doing - it needs to continue.

Until today, I would recommend that golfers from outside the state play Eastmoreland for the "experience" more than anything (a classic design in the heart of the city) but now I would tell people that the combination of price and conditions makes it a must play (especially in early July). It's as difficult as ever, but now, the conditions make the pain of penalties a little easier to tolerate.

Played 7/22. First time playing here and I will definitely be back. Overall the course conditions are very good for this time of year with the heat. Tee boxes were all in decent shape, some uneven spots, but overall very good and flat. Fairways are in good shape - not many brown spots and not many bad lies. Greens are in good shape - 14-15 of them are in great shape. There are a few greens that have a lot of marks and could use some love, but nothing too egregious. For the price, Rustic is tough to beat.

Have played this course twice, the second time being Sunday May 6. Pace of play was just under 3.5 hours, outstanding for any day of the week, but amazing for a late Sunday morning start.

Overall, the course is in good condition. Tee boxes are very nice and even, greens are fast, but true, with some minor imperfections (though they are scheduled to aerate in the coming weeks). Fairways have a few dry/brown patches but nothing crazy bad. Overall, it's very nice and the scenery is great.

It is expensive to play here, but the practice facility is first rate, the overall atmosphere is very relaxed/professional. You will find yourself around people who are serious about golf, not your typical weekend warriors. Once and a while you even spot a celebrity (we saw former NFL star Marcus Allen). It's definitely a course worth playing and if nothing else, one of the best places to practice in the LA area.
