Had a chance to play this track with a member yesterday. Very challenging course that demands accuracy on every tee shot. I have nothing bad to say about the course except for what it did to my score. Greens rolled true and were very fast. It felt like I was putting on glass for a moment. I couldn't get used to the speed of the greens all day. Tee boxes, fairways, and bunkers were in immaculate conditions. You couldn't find a bad lie all day except if you're in an old divot. If you ever get a chance to play this course, I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. Bring a lot of balls, you're going to need it.

Played on Friday (6/19) with a tee time of 2:45pm as a single. Was warned at the pro shop that a new guy was the starter and may cause some delay. Soon enough, the starter forgot to get me out with a threesome I was suppose to play with as he had trouble handling the back up of 3 groups on the first tee. He admitted his mistake and let me tee off alone so I can catch up with my group. Not a big deal as I caught up by the second tee.

I didn't find the bunkers all day so I can't comment on the quality, but I saw that they weren't properly raked (not the courses fault). Greens were medium/fast and rolled true like they always are over there. Some thin spots on the fairways and rough but did not affect lie at all. Some of the tee boxes weren't level.

Pace of play started good, but slowed to a crawl around the the 6th hole. Finished the round in almost 5 hours with enough daylight to spare. I always tell myself to play this course more often as it's usually one of the better conditioned courses in the LA area and more affordable than the OC courses.

Played here yesterday (June 14, 2015) with great weather. Conditions here right now are very good and very firm. Greens were lightning quick on a lot of putts and you're going to have a hard time getting your ball to stay on the greens on your second shots. I was in one bunker yesterday and they were nice and fluffy. My only problem with the conditions were the tee boxes. Lots of them were not leveled at all as I had to tee it up in downhill and sidehill lies. Not comfortable at all.

Pace of play was atrocious. We teed off 20 minutes late and it took 3 hours to play the front 9. I can't blame it entirely on the golf course because the group in front of us was almost two holes behind. But the cafeteria was behind on all orders and it caused a 20 minute delay on the 10th tee. Terrible service. I'm almost certain that this causes a lot of delays because of their inability to get out orders more efficiently and in a timely manner. Another thing that irked me yesterday, a marshall came out to my group while on the 11th tee box waiting for group in front to hit their second shots on the fairway. I'm not a super long hitter, but I'm long enough (270-280 yards average drive). Group on the fairway was about 250 yards out. The marshall approached me to hurry me up and my drive because they were far enough. I argued with him that I can hit them, but he insisted that I go ahead and hit it. After a lengthy argument about pace of play, I went ahead and blasted my drive past the group in front (I yelled fore, of course). I turn to him to show him that he should talk to the group in front as they were two holes behind by then. All he said was, "just keep up with the group in front". No apology, and not even an attempt to talk to the group that was way behind. One of my worst experience on a golf course. I left the course after 16 holes. Pace of play would have been over 6 hours. Horrible.

I don't want to discourage other players from coming here as it's a wonderful track. But this course is badly managed. End rant.

Been a while since I've reviewed a course. Played here Friday (June 5) with my dad at 1:00pm. This course is usually backed up around this time so it wasn't a surprise that they were 10-15 minutes behind. We were paired up with a threesome of nice guys and got around the course in a little over 5 hours. The two groups in front of us were a hole behind which is why it was a slow day. Otherwise, we didn't mind the slow pace since we weren't in a real hurry.

As far as conditions go, everything was good except the bunkers and the greens. The bunkers I was in (I forget which hole) needs to be filled. Also, and this isn't the courses fault, the greens were bad because of all the divots that were not fixed. I must have fixed 4-5 divots per green. Please fix your divots, people! Otherwise, everything from this course was what I expected. I always come back here because the layout is great and you get to use all the clubs in your bag.

Played 4/22 super twilight at 4:30pm on the way home from the outlets. Was only planning on playing 9 holes but the course was so empty that I decided to play the full 18. This is my second time playing this course since it's been years since my first time. Pace of play was 2 1/2 hours. Amazing. Ran into a foursome around hole 6 but they let me play through and didn't run into anyone again until I got to the 17th hole. Didn't really care too much for my score as I was trying to get through the whole round before sunset and by the time I was finished, I still had 15-20 minutes to spare. For anyone who has yet to play this course, it as an absolute must if you're ever around the area. I prefer this track over Morongo, but that's just my opinion.

Now onto the conditions: Tee boxes were leveled and lush. Fairways were a little thin and dry, so balls would run forever if hit. Rough isn't an issue here unless you're way off on your drive. Was in a couple of bunkers, they were nice and fluffy. Greens were hard and fast only because it was at the end of the day. There were issues with unfixed divots but that's not the courses fault. I'm definitely going to make more of an effort to play here several times a year. I didn't shoot my normal score, but I didn't care as I was enjoying my round so much. See you again, soon!

Good track, although a little too tight for my taste. Had a tee time of 12:45pm on 3/14 but they let me go 15 minutes early since no one was at the tee at the time. Pace of play was about 4 1/2 hours since the group in front played a bit slow. Didn't bother me at all as I was enjoying a nice day out with a buddy.

Greens ran a bit slow for me as they seemed to have let them grow out a bit, but putts still stayed on line so it wasn't much of an issue. Bunkers were nice and fluffy. Fairways and rough were lush with some thin spots.

Would I come back? At a discounted rate, yes. These OC courses are bit too pricey for me but I do enjoy them very well. Definitely a target golf course as I only had to use driver on a few holes.

Played here on Saturday with my group on a hot day. Teed off at 9:12am and managed to finish just a shade under 5 hours. I love the layout of this course as you're forced to hit every club in your bag. Several of the fairways on the front 9 were looking pretty thin. Probably expected this time of the year with the high temperatures. Bunkers were nice, but some of them had a lot of pebbles that has potential to damage your clubs if you aren't careful. Rough was cut about 3-5 inches. Greens were rolling true and fairly fast but found many unfixed divots. Definitely will be coming back here again.

Haven't posted in a while. Had a chance to play this on Father's Day (6/16/13/) with my dad, brother and brother-in-law. Arrived 15 minutes ahead of our 2:00pm tee time and were fortunate enough to get on right away. Was pleasantly surprised that the course was so open as the group in front of us were at least 3-4 holes ahead and the single playing behind us were 2 holes behind. Managed to play the whole round in 3:45 even with my brother and brother-in-law hacking away. Great times!

As for the conditions, it can't get better than it is right now. I say for the 3 or 4 times I've played this course so far this year, this must have been the best playing conditions the course had to offer. Fairways and rough were lush with minimum bare spots. Sand boxes were nice and fluffy. My only gripe would be the greens and tee boxes and that's not even the course's fault. People need to fix their divots. I must have had to fix 4-5 per green.

Had a chance to play this course on Friday mid afternoon. As I rolled up to the parking lot, I swear I thought the course was closed as there were literally only 3-4 cars there. I was greeted by the lone staffer who was working both the carts and players checking-in. He said that after 2:30pm during the weekdays in the summer, the Pro Shop closes. Regardless, I paid him cash (29$ super twilight) and went on to the first tee.

As I stood on the first tee, I realized I was the only one on the course and a few guys on the range and the practice green. The pace of play was a good one and a half hour.

About the course conditions: Tee boxes were perfectly leveled with some brown patches here and there. The fairways felt like I was hitting off of carpet and the ball would roll for miles. Being in the rough wasn't penal at all as they were cut to about an inch or less. Greens were very firm with medium fast speed. The few bunkers I ended up in were nice and fluffy.

Overall, a very good course with a straightforward layout.

Where do I start? Like the previous reviewer says, the rating of this course as of now should be lower than what it is. Course is in very bad condition since the last time I've played this course. Almost all of the tee boxes are thin and not leveled. Fairways and the rough were also thin, dried out, with lots of bare spots. The only good thing I can say about the course are the greens and bunkers. Greens rolled true and held their line. I was in the bunker twice and they were nice and fluffy. Pace of play was horrible since the foursome in front of my group was about a hole and half behind. Played front nine in 3 hours. After a couple of complaints to the marshall, they sped up just a tad bit but not by much. Finished the round in a little over five and a half hours.

I hope this course is getting ready for some major maintenance. I definitely won't be back again until it is back to its usual standards. This course is normally in great shape.

Walked on yesterday (2/24/13) and was able to get out right away (1:30pm). I wanted to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather we have been experiencing lately. If you're not a Long Beach resident, I don't think it's worth the fee they charge. Golfnow.com every now and then would give great rates so take advantage of it when you can. Paid for the twilight rate which is worth it, but you're risking not finishing 18 holes like I did yesterday. It was a very slow day. I spoke to the marshall and he said that almost every group out on the course yesterday was a fivesome. Finished the front 9 in a little over 3 hours. I left just before 5:30pm after the 12th hole.

If there's one thing I can always count on with this course, it's the greens. Super fast and really firm. None of our shots yesterday were holding and it felt like I was putting on tiles. Again, not the greenskeepers fault, but lots and lots of unfixed divots. I had to fix about 4-5 per green.

I was in the bunker once and to me, they were a bit thin, but not bad. The fairways and rough were a bit dormant but it's expected with all the cold weather we've had. The tee boxes were a little beat up but it had more to do with the amount of play this course gets.

Aside from the pace of play, I always love to play this course. It's a grip-it-and-rip-it type of layout as there are no hazards. What you see is what you get.

First of all, everything about this course in terms of the conditions are very good. From fairways to the greens, they were in excellent condition. My only gripe would be the amount of divots the tee boxes had, but that's more on the amount of play this track gets everyday. Played on 2/1/13 during twilight and the pace of play was really slow. Like Ringworld said, we literally had to wait on every hole, on every shot. Our tee time was 1:08pm but were probably 10 minutes late starting off. We knew from the start it was going to be slow, but didn't expect it to be THAT slow. Finished 9 holes in about 3 hours. Not going to cut if.

Thank goodness the rates makes this course worth it, but expect not to get the full 18 holes in if you don't give yourself at least 5 hours of daylight.
