This is the TRI-VALLEY gem. On paper, it appears like an executive course, but in reality it is a excellent test of all irons, woods, and the putter for greens always run fast, true, undulated and lush.
Par 3's, 11, range from 130yds - 240yds, uphill, downhill, bunkered, and wind influenced. Par 4's, 5, range from 350yds - 440yds with fairway bunkers, heavy/long fescue rough, uphill or downhill. Par 5's, 2, both over 500yds with doglegs, split fairway, uphill/downhill. You had better bring game and pay attention or you will be cussing the course and yourself. All most golfers need.

I have played this course numerous times, usually on the way to Carson City, NV. The course was the roughest I have ever seen. Some wet areas, greens were not consistent, trash around course, etc. Seems the home owners, who own the course, had the greenskeeper fired for some BS reason. I learned this from 2 men's club members I was playing with. They won't play in any club tournaments anymore because of this termination. Before there was never an unrepaired divot in the fairways or tee boxes, no broken tees laying around tee boxes, low areas were always filled and reseeded, basically the course was a gem in the Sierra. SO SAD....

Played on 5/29 and as always the course is in great shape. Greens were rolling true, if I could just putt I would be dangerous!
Fairways were lush and dry, no mud holes from overwatering. Great weekday Senior rate: $38 w/cart and you need only be 55. Would recommend you get out before it gets hot.

A word to the wise concerning this course.

They do not keep marshalls or personnel in the pro shop for people still on the course. The reason I bring this up is that on 2/17, my wife and I were walking the course. Late in the afternoon and on the ninth hole tee box, she fell and shattered her left wrist. This tee box is visible from the pro shop and bar/restaurant. No one from the course ever appeared during the incident. No marshalls, no employee, nobody. What if someone suffered a heart attack? That person would die right on the course and probably the greenskeepers would find them when they mow the next morning. I wanted some ice from the restaurant, so I could transport my wife to the hospital. In the restaurant were the employees, with cocktails in front of them, partying, 4:30 in the afternoon.
I suggest that everyone stay away from this course until the course gets their customer service and concern together.
My wife has stablized with two plates, 12 screws, and bone transplant.
I will be contacting my attorney for reimburstment and for pain and suffering. SOFT SPIKES IS SUCH A GREAT POLICY!!!

This course is set in one of the most beautiful canyons in the East Bay Hills. Too bad that Rene, the owner, does not invest money back into his little gold mine. He has owned it since it opened in the '60's and has never improved irrigation and drainage since then. Hopefully, (HARD) Hayward Area Recreation Department, will buy it out so that the course will be upgraded. The fairways in some areas were 3" deep and other areas almost void of grass. Wait to play until Rene is gone!!!

I had played this course close to 10 years ago and it was in very good shape and nearly empty until after the morning fog lifted. Then the locals arrived. I was never rushed or slowed down. Not quite as good of condition as the North course, gets more play I believe. Lots of great and challenging holes. If ever in Roehert Park play this course also.

This first time I had played this course and I was pleasantly satisfied. I played on the 4th of July weekend and the course was nearly empty. Great risk and reward course and set up well for my game. If ever in Roehnert Park, do yourself a favor and tee it up!

It has been a while since I played this course. Great improvements have been made. The course is 3/4 done on putting cart paths on the course. This will make winter play more enjoyable. The greens were running true except I have had problems this year with reading green speed and have been putting terrible. Not the greens it's the "Indian".
The fairways were in great shape with adequate roll. Get a chance go out and play!!!

The course is recovering great after an above wet early spring.
They kept carts off the course during this period and it really saved the fairways. Play this course whenever you can, however, it is toasty during the summer, get an early time and you will truly enjoy!!!

Course has not totally recouped from a very wet early spring. I played on Memorial day, and I think the regular greenskeeper had the day off.
The holes were not cut consistently and about 5 greens missed mowing that morning. OOPs! Still some wet areas in low lying segments basically between greens and next teeboxes. PLayed with some great people, but the course is not up to condition which it usually is by this time of year.
