Before I post this complaint I want to be fair to River Ridge because up until today I have had nothing but wonderful experiences playing there. So here goes…today I got the afternoon off which is a rarity for me. I wanted to play River Ridge this weekend but they had the Oxnard City Championship so I couldn’t. I know from having played in the Oxnard City in past years that River Ridge always has the course in tip-top shape for it which is why I decided to head up this afternoon. Anyway, I know Greenskeeper.org does a good job at posting maintenance but I called in advance just to be safe. I ask the person who answers phone “Are you guys doing ANY maintenance today?” the guy says “NOT that I’m aware of.” Great, I hang up and drive up there. When I get there the first thing the guy tells me is I will be teeing off number 10 because they are leaching the back nine greens this afternoon. I’m thinking, what the….I just called them and they said they weren’t doing any maintenance. Being that I like the back nine better I had no problem playing it first. The problem was at the turn. After we finish putting on 18, I look up and see 4 groups waiting on the 1st tee. 4 groups at 5:30 on a Tuesday! I go to the starter shack and tell him we are making the turn and he tells me that it will be at least 20 minutes before we can tee off! I’m thinking shouldn’t we have priority and why would they be packing them in knowing darn right that there are groups making the turn? Also why didn’t they tell me and the rest of our group that this is what we could expect after playing the first nine? Had I been told, I would of headed over to Olivas Park or somewhere else nearby where I would have been able to play 18. Well, I left after 9 and something tells me the course got greedy today at the expense of pissing some twilight golfers off. If anyone from River Ridge is reading this, I love your course but how about some honesty on the phone and in person?

Ojai Valley Inn has seen better days. Still a great golf course. Played at the discounted rate also and it’s definitely worth it.

River Ridge is a very fun layout I never get bored of . As always the greens are in wonderful condition. As the temperature cools their mostly Bermuda fairways start to go dormant and thin out. I noticed some of that today. I normally don’t play Wednesday morning because that’s when the seniors mens clubs plays but with the rain I figured it would scare most of them away. I was going to play Camarillo Springs but unlike River Ridge that is a course not well suited for the rain. Anyway, I called the course, I headed up there, they got me right out, and I had a really good time. Can’t wait for the new 18 to be built. I heard that when it’s completed next year, the “Island” hole is going to become the 18th hole!

Played over the weekend. Golf course was in OUTSTANDING condition. Like the front nine better then the back. Noticed they pushed the 17th green over to the left more. A needed improvement. Greens are running great. Fairways and Rough green as ever. Highly recommend.

What course were you playing don? Our group went off around 11:30 and we definitely noticed the holes on every green. I will say they are recovering rather nicely but to say they are not noticeable is not the case. I enjoy this course every time out and am excited about the new management. From the black tees the back nine is extremely challenging. Hole number 10 is PGA tour caliber. Definitely recommend playing here once the greens heal.

Standbye Nightmare...Got there at dawn on a weekday...watched 5-some after 5-some show up...took over 2 hours to get out and over 5 hours to finish. Course was nothing to jump up and down about...Won't be back without a tee time.

I played the course this weekend only because I was invited. I don’t normally play Camarillo Springs on the weekend because I like to walk and they make you ride on the weekends. Anyway, we teed off around 12:30 and didn’t even come close to finishing!!! (Maybe this was because we were jammed behind a fivesome!) Needless to say I was very disappointed. The course was in good shape so I’m sure I’ll end up going back. It just won’t be on a weekend!

First time I've played the course on a weekend. Place was packed. Ended up only playing nine. Greens were bumpy.

I've been waiting some time for this course to open. Played it Wednesday and was blown away. Who cares if they don't have a clubhouse or driving range. This place is a steal at $55 bucks! The course is in fantastic shape and the staff treats you with a lot of respect.
