this is just a great course. i'd love to tee off where the pro's do on #1 sometime...looks like fun!

This course is looking good. They are considering switching the 9's, which was how we played. I actually like that better...
Overall, conditions were good. The main gripe is that the grass, a lot of times, just isn't "golf course" grass...it's lawn grass. the root system is above ground, and it's a nightmare to play out of. stay in the fairway, and it's not bad at all...

The last time i played Green River, i was not impressed. Luckily, Eddie and his guys have made me look stupid.
This course is looking marvelous(which sounds better if you say it like Billy Crystal). Everything was as it should be; very nice greens, good solid fairways, and bunkers that are consistant and "pulled".
For the money, this course is a gem. The best part is, they took all of my favorite holes from both old courses to make the new one...brilliant!
It's nice to play a course, only to find that the last time you played and things were not-so-great, it was an ad-hoc issue.
Although a little more hole-to-hole signage would be nice, this course is looking sharp. Play it...or, better yet, see if they still have the "play all day" thing on wednesdays and knock yourself out trying to make a ball stick on the 18th green!

Played here on Sunday May 16th. This course is looking really, really good. I've been critical of this course in the past, as it was usually poorly cared for. This course is really coming around and becoming a course to be proud of.
The fairways were nice and green, not many bare spots at all.
The greens were a little bumpy, but they were getting ready for aeration...so what do you expect, right?
The bunkers were a little inconsistent, some were packed down hard while others were fluffy and nice...i'm thinking it's a big project that is taking time.
The biggest, and most notable improvement, are the lakes...they are clean now! Before they smelled like rancid toilet water, but now they are pleasant, and a great home for the wildlife(i.e. hungry ducks who like my trail mix too much. i like a gallery, but c'mon!). It's nice to see a little family of ducks making their home at a course.
After the round, we couldn't stop talking about how much this course has improved. A great little course, especially for couples and beginning golfers...and a joy to walk, now.

this is really a gorgeous course. a really nice track with an appropriately challenging set-up. top to bottom, this course could not have been nicer. firm greens that actually hold a ball pretty well, and bunkers that make you think twice about going in. if i wasn't just exhausted when i played, i would have scored a LOT better...but, i like getting worked over by a course like this. it's humbling and fun!
a word of advice, though...beware the buzzing bees! you hear them, but never really see them...

if you like-err-love links golf, you should be here. this is one of the two best links courses in southern california.
this is the epitome of links golf in southern california...punishing bunkers, tight lies in the fairway, and a fringe that is better than most greens i putt on.
the course was in great shape, and they had the pins in IMPOSSIBLE places for a tournament right behind us. it was windy, it was long, it was difficult as all hell...and i love it.
probably a course you'd have to play half a dozen times to score well on and appreciate for all it's nuances. i literally got worked over by this course, and i'd go back in a heartbeat...2 hour drive be d%mn ed!
one tip: get very, very familiar with bump and run and putting on marble...and try stopping a ball on the hood of a buick before you go.

i got out at 7am for $34...first out, course was open ahead of me. this was the nice part of my day.
i would think that since this facility has been reduced to one course instead of two, they would have a stellar track. this couldn't be further from the truth. the first four greens had standing water on them (socal in march!)...and most of the greens play differently from each other, i.e. no consistency. the fairways were in decent shape, but have a lot of crabgrass and ugly spots. the bunkers were fine, just a little damp.
you'd think with less facility to keep track of, they would have it knocked. obviously they didn't take a critical look at what their course could be, or has turned into. directional signage for hole-to-hole travel was nearly absent...another oversite i think you'd avoid when making such a drastic change in layout.
with a little tlc, this could be one fabulous course...one to be proud of. instead, i'll just avoid it and play the other courses in the area that seem to be concerned with their facility.
all-in-all, $34 was appropriate for what i got today. i wouldn't pay a dime more, though.

got on for a decent price, played at 3pm. the rains have made this course pop! the "water hazard" running through the course actually has water in it! the greens were lovely, the fairways lush, and the rough was appropriately punishing.
the one gripe i have is the bunkers. those were inconsistant and poorly maintained. some were hard-pan, some were fluffy. i hit out of four bunkers, and hit something hard(like a rock or tree root) three times.
i would say "play it" for sure. it's looking fabulous...and if you've played this course in the past, you know how bad it can get.

played a few weeks ago, right after our big bout of rain. this course doesn't drain well at all. i think, over time, the rain will be good for the course, because this track is usually in pretty bad condition...so i think the rain may give it the "lush" condition it so desperately needs.
it's an odd layout, but fun. a good course to practise moving the ball, and you're hitting to a lot of elevated greens, so you can have some practise judging elevation changes in regards to distance.
don't expect much, you won't be getting much. they'll just push you out there, with no regard to pace of play. a funny story was when i played, a kid working the grounds crew approached me to tell me it was cart path only that day. i apologized, and asked why the pro shop guy didn't tell me...and he replied "because he's a fat, lazy f***". ouch...no love at fullerton!

this course is looking pretty nice!
the greens are in awesome condition. the bunkers are very nice, and the fairways were in good condition. they actually had ground under repair marked! i know, a course that marks their course. what?!
the back nine plays differently from the front nine, it's a little tighter and has more side hills, which can be great, and can be disaster. this course is worth a play, though. also, they have an all grass driving range...very cool.

very cool older course. a pretty simple layout, with a fairly cramped structure to it. holes three and eight actually have a shared tee box!
greens were in good condition, and it was fairly lush and well taken care of. the traps were nice, as well. the tee boxes were pretty bad...they just need to be rolled, i think. stamp the tee boxes down, and you've got a great little course to be really proud of. a great course for walking.

the greens were nice, and the bunkers were in good shape. it seems like the closer you get to summer, the worse the conditions get. they seem to be fine in the fal, early winter, and then they just plummit. for what it cost to play, i think a better course can be had. the fairways were just in sad shape...very thin and unkept. i was actually trying to work my ball into the rough!
