Played yesterday in approx 4.5 hours teeing off at 7:30am. The course seems to be rounding out nicely. Always a pleasure to play this course and you can tell they are working on improving the playing conditions. The greens had quite a few unrepaired ball marks which made some putts bounce and the greenskeeper must have had a bad night because the pin placements were quite challenging. The worst one was on the 1st par 5 on the back 9. We sat in the fairway watching the group in front of us yo yo the ball back and forth 3 times each before making it into the cup. The ball literally would roll right back to them down the hill if they didn't make it. The fairways looked to be getting some freshening as the scent of cow manure was scattered throughout most fairways and they had also recently been plugged as there was chunks of dirt from the recent aeration on most fairways... it wasn't so bad that the lies were unplayable though. The rough is rather lush in most places. The greens did not hold shots well even though they are on the slower side and dampened by the recent rains. I love the layout and some great views on several holes. I'll BE BACK!!!

Played about a week ago during intermittent rain and wind. Course is in very playable condition from tee to greens. There are a couple difficult holes that will wreak havoc on your score but very scorable otherwise. Played in approx 4.5 hours. Recommended course in a pinch.

Played on 12/26 - Course is in excellent condition and has definitely made a turn for the better. I have always enjoyed the course layout as it provides a great variety and now with the maintenance they have put into the course it is worth a look. There are some great views from many of the tee boxes as well. The course is not exceptionally long but you do need to keep it in the fairway as your ball will be a goner otherwise. The greens are very fast but firm so they will not hold approach shots so well... make sure you club down 1 and then let the ball roll up to the pin. I found a couple of fairway sand traps to be thin layers of dirt instead of sand and some had rather large pebbles/rocks in them as well. I highly suggest using the terrain to your advantage by hitting towards the hill side of the fairways and then letting the ball roll down towards the center of the fairway (especially on the front 9). The round took close to 5 hours but it did open up after the first couple of holes. Do yourself a favor and give the course a try as it truly has improved.

Played 2 weeks ago and the first thing to note was the condition of the tee boxes as they were being overseeded and pretty much just dirt (cow manure). Aside from that, the course was in decent condition and I love the sand traps on this course (sand-wise). Teed off as a 2some again playing at 10:30 on a Sunday. We completed the round in under 4 hours. A nice way to spend your Sunday w/o wasting your whole day on the golf course. Hopefully the tee boxes have grown back by now.

Overall conditions are pretty decent although 5.5 hour round and (incl) teed off 30 mins. late. Greens are still recovering from aeration a couple weeks ago and are slow and bumpy although they do hold approach shots well. Some tee boxes need to be cut as they were pretty bushy in spots. Fairways were decent and sand traps looked like hardpack and wet in spots but I didn't hit in there so not too sure??? Starters were learning a new computer system and appeared rather perplexed with the computer... we had some good laughs with them though. There are some long/tough par 4's on this course that will hurt your score.

Things have gotten somewhat worse due to the heat over the past couple of weeks as the fairways are thinner than they have been in the past. There are more unrepaired ball marks on the greens than usual as well. Finished in 3hrs 45 mins and course is rather empty teeing off at 11:30 on a Sunday as a 3some??? There was a 2some & 3some in front of us and a 3some following us.

Considering the temperature it was actually not as hot as expected. Played on 7/15 and course was in similar conditions as last time. There appeared to be a few more wet spots in front of a couple greens due to them overwatering to keep things green in the heat. The green that had some problems on the back 9 (I think it's #11) has recoverd quite well. Always a treat to play this course and it is scorable if you can hit em straight. The greens do not break as much as you would think... take what you think and cut it in 1/2 and they tend to break AWAY from the mountains behind. If you can keep this in mind it will help your putting. The greens do hold shots exceptionally well but they tend to be on the slow side. Finished the round in 4 hours teeing off at 11:30 on a Saturday as a 3some????? We also had a 3some behind us. It's crazy to think that as good of a course as this is that in prime weekend time 3somes are teeing off. Maybe it's due to the length of the course as it does play short from the tips.

Played on 7/3 teeing off around 11am and it was brutal. Great course conditions but there were some shmucks out there taking their sweet time hacking away. We arrived to the 4th hole and there were 3 groups waiting on the tee plus our newly arrived group. We called the marshall to complain and things sped up a tad afterward but we waited at least one group for the remaining holes we played. Never could get a good rhythm going as a result. I ended up hitting into 8 different traps and was able to get out on the first attempt on each one due to the quality sand.

I told the wife when I got home to remind me not to play back to back days as you would think you would get better the 2nd day but my score suffered somewhat due to the heat and getting tired towards the latter holes. We ended up only playing 14 holes while taking a solid 5 hours during that time span. Take the others suggestions and make sure you tee off early in the morning if you want to play a "non" annoying round.

The course is a gem and you can't beat the layout for the price either.

Played Sunday 7/3 & teed off at 12:15. A tough outing considering there seemed to be quite a few women on this course. Not like there is anything wrong with that but this course is rather lengthy (especially w/the wind blowing) and that extra distance makes for a long round of watching the slow group in front of you peck away 100 yards at a time. The round took about 5.25 hours to complete and I was expecting it to be much hotter but the wind kept things from getting too hot.

The greens seem to be the toughest part of this course as they are deceptively fast AND break more than you would expect. Even short 3 or 4 footers can be challenging. The fairways & teeboxes were in good condition but the majority of the rough (including that surrounding the greens) is crab grass which is tough to hit out of cleanly as the grass grabs your club as you swing through it. I hit most of the fairways throughout my round but the odd time I was in the rough it definitely added to the challenge. Stay in the fairways if possible to avoid losing strokes in the rough.

I recommend this course and it is worth the green fee although the pace of play detracts from the overall positive experience.

Played on Sat 5/27 & was surprised at the lack of body count at the course. The starter said it was due to the "fairweather" golfers that usually play the course. Finished in under 4 hours teeing off at 10:45 (1/2 hour early) as a 2some!!!??? Course is in rather stellar condition from tee to green although it was wet/mushy in some areas as there had been some rain earlier in the morning. Greens hold approach shots exceptionally well just remember that the ball will break away from the mountains. One green has some weeds of some sort growing through and the wind kicked up on the back 9 which made things a tad more challenging. The course is not long and can yield low scores due to the receptive conditions of the course. Hot dog/coke combo isn't bad either at the turn. Group in front of us had 2 dads & their boys who finally let us play thru after the 12th hole. Thanks guys!

WOW!!!!! Course has made a dramatic change since the last time I played here (over 1 yr ago due to poor conditions). Major improvements in the condition of the grass in the fairways and rough and the grass surrounding the greens was clearly defined and nicely groomed. Fairways tend to be on the hard side so you get a good roll but the grass is easy to hit off of. The greens are fast and hard and do not hold shots too well but they are working on softening them up according to the starter as they put iron down the night b4. Completed in 4 hours but teed off at 6am. Worst part of course was condition of the sand as it was wet but still playable. They were watering the course down on alot of holes as we played through as well. If you used to dislike this course I suggest giving it another shot as you WILL not be disappointed. Tough to walk and you gotta hit em' straight or you may lose a few balls.

This course did NOT disappoint. Too bad they are aerating over the next couple weeks. From tee to green the course is in very well kept condition. The fairways and rough have great quality grass and they allow for your ball to sit up nicely. The greens held approach shots well. Fairways were not too narrow and the length of the course favors short hitters as it is not very long from the tips. There was quite a bit of water on the course but only comes into play if you hit a really bad shot. It's usually tucked off on the side of the fairway. There was one green that was being attacked by some weed that the local resident we played with said it would cost $40G's to repair the green but other than that I loved the course. It's not too scenic and has the Palm Springs feeling to it with condos surrounding the holes and more old people than young playing. Do not let the "hills" name fool you either as this course is quite flat. Definitely a scorable course and I will be back!
