Walked as a foursome at 6:20 am about 3:45 hrs. I haven’t played this course for 5 years are so and it’s way more expensive than I remembered but man it’s a great course. The layout is interesting. The greens fair but nicely contoured. The holes have nice variety of long and shot holes and strategic decision making. Really enjoyed it and worthy the money.

I came up to this area to run the Ojai marathon. Decided to come out to river ridge due to all the great GK reviews. As usual my GK compatriots did not steer me wrong. God what a great course!! Walked on as single and got grouped up with 3 great guys. We were the first group out at 6:30 so we played in about 3:50. Used the GK coupon also, great a bargain.
If this course was in OC it would be 5 times busier.
Really fun layout with great variety of holes. Some long and open, some short and tight. Uphill, downhill, it had it all.
Really great conditions from tee to green. The greens especially were immaculate. I almost didn't want to walk on them they were so pretty. One of the few times I took time to walk back into the pro shop and tell them what a great course they had. I would drive up here to play again in a heart beat. Awesome job River Ridge.

haven't played this course for a while. now i'm putting it back in my rotation. very good condition for the price. always great pace. just a very enjoyable round. not very far from OC either. not a lot of "amenities", but that's not what this is about. it's pure great golf at a great price

i've put this course in my regular rotation. excellent pace of play. i usually play in 3 1/2 hrs in the afternoon. great rolling greens, trimmed layout is surprisingly enjoyable. don't knock it, very fun to play

oh man what happened to this place?? SO much better than it was. i stopped playing for about a year due to terrible conditions. whoever took over is doing a great job. great greens and fairways. bunkers and rough and still use some work but hey, for the price you can beat it. i really enjoy the chino creek layout. fun round always. my buddies and i drive out from OC and play a round in 3 1/2 hrs

Omg this course is back people!! For those who knew and loved the old Scga course and the great condition we had back then, it's back. This course went through some rough patch when it was being sold. I lived just down the street so I've must have played this course twice a week. It was sad to see it go downhill. But I've just played it last week. Beautiful cross cut fairway. Smooth fast greens. Not as fast as the Scga days but still plenty good. New black tees also very challenging. Very reasonably priced. You're gonna see me come back real soon. Great job new owners

just played today after few days of rain. frost delay about 35 min. also fairway very mushy, cart path only. would wait for a few days before playing. call first to see if cart path only before playing. greens in good shape, but wet overall

haven't played here for about 6 mos or so because i've heard the conditions were so bad. just played yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. the greens have come back nicely, the fairways are in great shape and tee boxes were great. has become a regular course on my rotation again. tip: greens here are very shallow front to back, so i would just hit to the midlle of the green yardage. also #7 and #16 the greeens slope front to back, so expect the ball to kick to the back of the green

just played last weekend. course just finished overseeding so cart path only. which was the only neg about the round. this course is AWESOME. given a flat piece of land, they graded this course into a very interesting course, with rolling holes. everything is big, big fairways, big greens, big bunkers. this is a man-sized course. everything was first rate. i can't wait to come back there when greeens are faster (apparently normally an 11 per staff, when i played prob 7 or 8). played eagles fall earlier during day, which i thought was great, but this course is a masterpiece. i heard there's a replay rate of $25, which i would definitely take advantage of. also their restaurant Rattlesnake was great, had the seared scallops, definitely a step above most golf club restaurants

played for first time on a day where fog came in and out of the course. felt like i was in lord of the rings. the ocean holes on the back nine are awesome. course conditioning on the fairways could be better. but overall, i think this course is better than torrey pines as a seaside course

given that i live about 5 minutes away i've probably played this course more than 100 times. i always enjoyed myself, and feel blessed to have a championship layout so close. this is a great neighborhood course with lots of kids, families, work leagues that come out to play here. hopefully if it's sold, the new owners will keep the soul of this place intact. if they change this course it will be a great loss to the local golfing community,

since im the first review i will spend some time detailing my views. i've only played this course at twilight, which is 3 pm. both times barely finished. although no one else on course, this course kick your butt, and holes very far apart, so i don't see how you can play this course in less than 4 hrs with a foursome. both times in the afternoon, the wind was howling, so the front nine just whips your butt. this is a mountain course. make sure you bring plenty of balls and i recommend playing everything as a lateral hazard, otherwise you may stay on a tee box forever reloading. i'm a 4 hcp, and playing from the tips, i've shot 45s both times on the front. the front is very mountainous, starts out with several good flat holes. once you get into the mountains things get a little weird. on a 460 yd hole, after your drive (usually 270), you only got 40 yds left to the green. on a 210 yd hole, you only hit 7 iron (usually 165 for me). on the next hole #8, 350 yd, a nice three wood overrun the fairway into a ditch. on 9 a good drive in the fairway leaves you stymied behind a large tree. what i'm saying is these holes gets a little hokey, after a while you just wish you got a regular flat hole instead of these scenery downhill holes over and over.
the back nine actually is a lot better, with some beautiful holes with really interesting layouts. less scenic, but after the front, i've had my fill of scenery.
on a side note, the practice area and driving range are first rate. i would come at least 1 hour early just to hit balls on this gorgeous range. the carts are awesome, best i've ever seen, and staff is great.

i would not pay usual fee $200 for this course. i think you get a better value with SCGA or Links Elsinore, however, getting out twilight for $100 is not a bad deal just to experience probably the most sceninc course you have ever played.
