Birthday Golf! These guys run a fantastic promotion with the free birthday round. These guys are accommodating, friendly and make you feel like a special customer, kudos to the Tustin Ranch staff as really understand customer service at every step. (Very Refreshing).
One caveat- I do hit balls here when the grass is open, and there is a fella that works in the range shop that is a complete and utter jerk-off (if you've talked to the guy you know who he is)

As for the course, layout was not remarkable, nor vividly memorable from many tees (except for the watery par 3). But it wasn't bad either. With that being said, a very quality establishment. *Sorry for the flip-flop answers, but for that kind of money people should really demand a great layout.

I was most impressed with the conditions of the greens & bunkers. Unfortunately I lived in the traps last Monday, but was quite possibly the best quality bunkers i've played, since the days of working at Seattle GC in high school. It should be noted that the greens were smooth and really quick.

I would love to consider this track as my home course but the reality is for the kind of money they ask for, its just not worth it.

Though, everyone should make it a point to play on your b-day!

Like its overpriced Orange County counter-parts (Tustin Ranch & Oak Creek). A nice course with a fair layout but no where near worth the money they charge. Fairways were dormant (which I won't judge), Greens were in very good shape. I will certainly play it again but will be searching for the deals when doing so.

Played Mid March 2012.
I must be a glutton for punishment as I forgot how brutal this course is. No room for wayward tee shots and zero bailout areas on most holes, greens are extremely challenging. Course was in very good shape and if you get a deal its worth the price of admission... otherwise in my opinion its really not. One big disappointment was the range, I'm pretty certain the grass on the range was longer than the rough on the course.

Played 2/19. I kindly challenge the GK family to submit recent reviews of this track to give it an updated reflection of what this place has become. The positives first- Really nice greens and very quick. The scenery and backdrop was second to none. Unfortunately the negatives won out. Far too many bare and brown spots on the fairways. The rough was more dead and crab grass/weeds than anything else. The areas around the greens were really poorly manicured. However the worse part was the pace of play and lack of a cart marshal. A course in my opinion can't command those types of fees and not have someone keeping it moving. At one point there were 3 groups waiting on a hole (it was like this all day). Finally we picked up on 13 and decided to skip ahead as there had to be a huge gap. Sure enough we saw back ups of 1-2 groups per hole waiting. Then a gap between one group on 15 green, the next group was finishing 17. Completely unacceptable for management to allow this to happen. Disappointing experience all around (even though I found a deal on golfnow)

Excellent golf course in extremely good shape. The greens were lightening quick and tough to read at times with the subtle breaks. A challenging track that was very enjoyable. Only 3 gripes, On some holes the areas around the greens (within 50 yards outside of the fairways were mushy, lumpy and certainly didn't resemble the condition of the rest of the course. My second issue (and is personal thing and certainly doesn't make it a negative for all) was the 2nd & 3rd holes (especially #2) with the huge elevation drop and the hidden fairway. & the 3rd was a course such as this needs a grass driving range. All in all a great course, and one i'd love to play again.

Played here in 1/7. Interesting & fun layout that probably cost a fortune to build. Lots of space between holes, giant cart tunnels, elevation change on a few holes (not my favorite things but doesn't make it a bad course either). Unfortunately it looks like the condition of the course has slipped to what it used to be. The fairways were in really poor shape and had far too many bare spots, crab grass. The tees resembled rough and hadn't been mowed in quite some time. The bunkers were lacking manicure and extremely thin. (2 dreaded clicks on my 2 bunker shots). I have a feeling it wasn't pilot error b/c my playing partner- also a single digit h'capper bladed 2 or 3. The good news is the greens were in good shape and were rolling quick. I'd like to play it again, but not under the same conditions. Hopefully they can turn it around.

Interesting layout @ Talega. When course is in good shape this would be a different review. Tee-Boxes were in good shape other than the need to be mowed. Rough was nice and lush. Fairways were in really bad shape. Tons of bare spots & lots of crab grass stuff. Greens were in decent shape, what's up with people not fixing their ball marks on the course? Bunkers had a serious lack of sand. Oh and there was Coot shat everywhere!

But that isn't the worse part. When we finished 9 the GPS said we were 30 min behind pace (we were also waiting on every hole), mind you we were playing with a couple of guys that wouldn't know what a golf course is if they were using both hands and had scope. I don't care if people aren't good, but keep up that's all, and know when to pick up your ball and move on. Long story short the marshall was waiting for us after 9 (the only time we saw a marshall) and he said you guys are 30 min behind. We told the gentlemen, ok- kindly talk to the other 2 in our group. And while your at it, what gives telling us we are behind when we are waiting on every tee & second shot.... Lazy and overzealous course rangers, my favorite!

Other than the first few holes at Auburn Muni (which are severly bland) This Course is a quality muni at a reasonable price. The back nine boasts a few holes that are reminiscent of country club quality. The last time i played was in August of 2011 and was in excellent shape. Greens were on the slowish side, but had no major flaws. This course along with many others in Western Washington do not have a problem with lushness.

The best of the 3 city of Seattle muni's (Jefferson Park & Jackson Park being the other two) Fair layout for a city course with fantastic views of downtown Seattle from a few holes on the home nine. Course can really back up and play slow, so either play in the morning or bring a good book- b/c a five hour round on weekends is realistic. Some of the greens have a major slope to them including 14-18 on the back nine all sloping right to left.

Played here in Mid October 2011 (which is nearing the end of the golf season in Western Washington) The two best parts of the round was a) the views from the parking lot (you can see the entire course a couple hundred feet below) b) the enormous driving range/practice facilities.

With the mindset going into the round that, these guys are going to be hosting the US OPEN in 2015- the only thought running through my head was, who from the city of Tacoma & Pierce County (owns and operates the facility) has dirt on the USGA (and what do they know).

This place was so underwhelming it wasn't funny. The tees were in decent shape shape (lots of bare spots), The fairways had just been sanded a few days prior so I won't comment on that (but again bare spots) one way or another. The greens on the other hand were a 100% disaster (they were punched 2.5-3 weeks prior) and should have atleast been playable. The detest for the greens had nothing to do with punch marks or aerification, rather it was bare spots everywhere... infact more dirt than grass on the greens. (perhaps a case of not planting the correct grass for the environment?) Its not the first time i've heard this, seems to be a real issue.

Another thing was with the Customer Service- Everyone from the front desk to the range personal has the holier than thou mentality, don't you know we are hosting the open mindset. I say Go Pound Sand and brain wash the sycophants if you please.

The layout is average to decent at times, and other times its uninspiring and a few others its 100% unfair. I can say that the USGA believes the same as they demanded wholesale changes to atleast 8 holes (rebuilding some greens, flattening some others, removing some bunkers, adding length etc.

Finally- I respect the fact that some courses want to be known for all walking or whatever, but you can't mandate a no cart policy when the course requires long and steep walks from tee to green, and up many of the fairways. I personally don't mind, but i played with a couple of troopers in their 70's and was flat out shocked by what they put themselves through.

I do want to see the US open come to the PNW, but not with this type of course. This isn't Bandon Dunes, nor is it a fair test of golf nor is it PNW golf at all. Western Washington tournament golf should be hosted by a classic tree lined beauty like Sahalee CC not this out of place, overpriced excuse for a course And oh yeah, nice double-wide trailer for a clubhouse.

PS- taking side bets of when the USGA will pull their 2015 Open commitment from this place.

In my opinion the best test public test of golf in Western Washington. Traditionally great layout forces you to hit it long and work the ball in all directions to score well. Extremely challenging at times, you must be precise off the tee & with your approach shots to walk away in one piece. They have held USGA events as well as college tourneys so you know its a quality track. If you do play around those times, expect to see the gnarly rough and bikini waxed greens. A real gem of a course always in amazing shape during the golfing season. A must play that is extremely affordable.

The Gold Mountain Golf Complex, owned and operated by the city of Bremerton, WA is the best value for the quality in Western Washington. The Cascade Course (the older and easier of the two courses) is an excellent track for all golfers. The Tees, Fairways, Rough & Greens (during the golfing season) are always in great shape. The layout is fairly good with tough yet fair holes and only 1 hole I'd consider to be "dumb" Highly Recommended course with beautiful facilities on the Kitsap Peninsula.
