Absolutely Terrible!!!!!!!

Customer Service: This used to be a very nice course even until the last time I played here, which was in December 2009. We had a 10:56 tee time and could not get on the first tee until after 12:00. There were 7 groups ahead of us, some of them probably without a tee time. The starter didn't do anything to ensure people get out on time. And, there were no marshals. We finally finished at 5pm.

Course: Worse than the customer service. The greens were terrible and slow. The fairways were dead and punched throughout. No "ground under repair" signs anywhere, which makes sense because the whole course was "under repair". The bunkers all had footprints in them, weren't raked (probably in days) and the sand was super compacted to give a very hard surface. The tee boxes were ok.

This was a very terrible experience on a golf course I have always enjoyed before today. Sad indeed!!

I think the low ratings are due to a lot of duffers who can't play this type of course. I would recommend this course for anyone below say a 12 handicap. Others should stay away as they will only cause themselves a lot of anguish by getting in trouble and others a lot of anguish by being super slow. This is not a course for someone who doesn't have at least a decent game.

Oh, and absolutely loved the burns......

I have play here 5-6 times and absolutely love it.

I love this course. I learnt how to golf on it and still remember the days when I struggled to break a 100 here four years ago ( shot a 76 today). And because this course is special to me, I keep coming back, despite the 5 hour round, despite the many hacks who don't belong on a difficult course like this one and take 15-17 strokes (not exaggerating) on several holes.

Upside - tough, challenging layout, great coastal weather, very good greens, very friendly and accomodating staff.

Downside - bad tee boxes, hard fairways in several places (the course isn't maintained very well) and too many duffers taking too long.

Fantastic Links style course. I love the way it plays, how the fairways are hard and how it isn't "manicured". To me, it is closest to golf as it was invented. I've played here twice and will definitely go again.

It isn't a course for hackers - you need to be a good golfer to really enjoy it. Maybe that's why all the gripes that people have posted. Stay away if you are looking for an easy round - I would recommend other nice places along the 15 freeway like Goose Creek, which are a lot more lush and easier to play.

Fantastic. The best public golf course I have played in Southern California by far. Very reasonable for $75/- . I will play here again and again.

Nice layout, great staff, good service, friendly environment. I play here very often and enjoy myself every time. The have put in a lot of work into the course the last couple of months and hopefully they can keep improving it.

This is how a public course should be. I absolutely love this course, the layout, the playing conditions and the entire experience. I feel this course is in a better condition than a lot of other courses nearby like Glen Ivy and Dos Lagos.

The experience:
Both carts in our foursome broke down. The staff had horrible attitude and they have no concept of customer service. The food was terrible and the guy behind the counter, the marshal, everyone had a bad attitude. The play was horribly show - took 5.5 hours to complete. Some greens were partly bald on the front nine and a lot of people don't repair ball marks.

The course : beautiful layout, great scenery, very challenging and quite remarkable really.

Verdict: I will come back for this course despite the horrible service, especially for the $32 that I paid today.
