I reviewed this course not long after it reopened and was not thrilled. Six months later, it's coming along very nicely and gets better each time I visit. Greens are in fantastic shape. Very smooth and true, still a bit firm. The penal rough around the bunkers (a very cool look, but easy to lose ball) has been cut down in the front. The long natural grass off the fairways remains but if you are 40 yards off line, you SHOULD be penalized. Best of all, people continue to stay away from Peacock Gap. As a result play is very light. It is not usual to see people tee off on a beautiful weekday at 10am ALONE. So you won't have any complaints about slow play here. Not sure how long it continue like this, word will get out, so enjoy it while you can.

I finally got around to playing Stonetree, even though I live in the area. It was everything I had heard it was. Challenging and in terrific shape although a few of the greens had that mottled look and were a little bumpy. Those holes up in the hills are gorgeous. This course will test your game. I would not recommend it for occasional players - it will eat you up. They allow walking, but it's a strenuous hike up the elevations and between holes. Stonetree kicked my butt the first time and I can't wait to try it again. Courses like this make you a better golfer. Join the Player's Club and play for $59 Mon-Thur, an excellent value.

This was my first round at EV. Despite all the recent rain, the course was bone dry, the fairways cut tight and it played pretty fast. Greens were pretty good, the bunker sand a fine powder and there was plenty of it. This course will test your skills! Not an easy course to walk, if you choose to do so. Those of you that want to take it on from the tips (over 7000 yards), I'm warning you - unless you have some serious game, you are in for a long, long day. Good luck. I recommend this course and will be back soon.

Played the Ocean today. It's been dry here in the Bay Area for over a week after heavy rains, so the course was soggy in spots. Half Moon Bay weather can be very unpredictable and changes fast. Although much of the Bay Area enjoyed clear, sunny skies, we were socked in by fog, brisk winds and it was quite chilly. Blow on your hands chilly. Even though you are right next to the ocean, you can hardly see it, even during the final three holes which are perched right above it. Bottom line is weather here is always dicey, so keep that in mind before you book a time. My fee was an email special of $60. If I had shelled out $150, I would have been very disappointed.

This was my first time out on the newly reopened course. Before the makeover, Peacock was a pretty ho-hum course. Not any more! The severely undulating greens have turned the short game and putting into a real challenge. Some might gripe they are over the top, but, other than the "thumbprint" on number 10, I don't think so. Oakmont and Augusta are famous for their greens, so why not? It certainly makes things interesting. If you are on the wrong side, forget it. With temps in the low 50s the 6200 yards played much longer. The first three holes are a pretty demanding start. The greens were firm and still a little young. Putted pretty smooth though. Unlike the other recent poster, I found the course to be pretty scruffy. Lots of thin spots, uneven and sandy tees. Bunkers were good. They've bumped the fees up to $65 on weekdays and a bucket of 30 balls is seven bucks. They should include them at that rate. They are angling for the upscale image, but they have a way to go. No color coded flags or pin sheets either and they would have really helped. Even though I live only about 15 minutes away, I won't be going back for some time.

Interesting layout and could be quite challenging from the tips, especially in the afternoon wind. Greens were pretty shabby in spots - looked like some kind of fungus, ugly, bumpy brown spots. Fairways were a litte shaggy too. Worth it on a weekday, twilight or with some kind of discount but if I paid the full weekend rate, I'd be disappointed. I like Rooster Run better.

This course must have seen some recent improvement based on previous reviews. "Fair" is not a rating it deserves. This old classic was in great shape with firm, tightly mown fairways - I could not find a daisy. Some tees were sanded, greens not to fast, but smooth. Got lucky with the weather - it was a sunny day, in the high 70s. Very pretty under these conditions. Pace of play was also a pleasant surprise - just over 4 hours! With an online discount, this was a steal.

Gorgeous setting - that is if it is not fogged in as it often is. Bodega was originally a nine hole course, you'll notice distinct differences between the the front and back nines. The front nine is newer and the opening holes are pretty darn tough. In the fog, wind and cold, they can be brutal. Interesting finishing holes too. Worth playing but, in my opinion, Bodega feels like a hybrid of three courses and just doesn't seem to flow all that well.
