I was able to play Moorpark twice in the last week, thanks to some friends, and as always wasn't disappointed. The course was in great shape, the greens not quite as fast as usual, but true and holding approach shots. As expected, the greens were also very smooth and rolling as true as ever. Fairways were lush although a bit soft in front of a few greens.
Everyone working there is upbeat, friendly and genuinely concerned that your day is as good it can be.
Moorpark seldom falls short of expectations and will always be in my short list of favorites!!

After a 3 month hiatus I was able to get out yesterday and played Simi Hills. The city championship was just there 2 weeks ago and it was apparent that they had cleaned up and marked the course for that and a lot of it had carried over.
The tees were in great shape! They have spent a great deal of time and money this year making improvements and this was the area that was most obvious. I honestly didn't see any issues with the changes being made and am beginning to feel that for a muni, this is as good as it gets in our area. Fairways were in nice shape. There was no cart girl, and on a day when temps were reaching into the high 90's that was a bit disappointing, but overall, customer service was good and cordial. Will definitely be going back from time to time.

Played this course yesterday hoping to prepare for a Golf Channel Amateur Tour event I'm playing this weekend. The people there are always wonderful and they didn't disppoint again. Always friendly, cheerful and helpful.
Unfortunately, the course is in as rough a shape as I've seen it in quite a few years. Many of the tee boxes are bare, there are a bunch of bare spots in the fairways, and with the dormant grasses it was tough to ewver find a shot where you weren't hitting from dirt or a very thin lie. The greens were in pretty nice shape.
There is some construction going on right now, with a total redesign of the 6th and 15th holes which will be nice when complete, but this was a disppointing day to be sure.

Played Rustic last Friday in preparation for a tourney I was playing Sunday. As usual, the course was in great shape, the fairways are lush, the greens quick and true, and the people there are helpful and courteous. The tee boxes were in nice shape, with no unlevel areas. Very few, if any, bare spots in the fairways, although the rough was REALLY up!! I just can't find anything wrong with this course expcept that on occasion the pins can be quite penal. I will continue going back and look forward to our first outing there later this month.

We had a 9:22 tee time and got out almost right on time. The people in the pro shop were very nice and this being our first time, they pointed us in the right direction for both the driving range and the 1st tee. We finshed in 4 1/2 hours.

The course was in nice shape. Greens very receptive and the fairways lush. I didn't notice any bare spots. If there were any concerns, it seemed the tee boxes were a bit fluffy. I don't think they had been mowed in a few days. Other than that and some very high rough I thought the course was nicely manintained.

We did have an interesting situation. On the way up a rather steep hill going to the 10th green, our cart began sputtering. 30 yards from the green, on the cart path, it dies. We pushed the cart up to a flat spot, I called the pro shop, and we putted out. Almost on queue, here comes an attendant with a new cart. We transfer everything, he asks if everything is ok and off he goes. We get in the cart and nothing!!! He forgot to leave us a key!! I called the pro shop again and up the hill came another employee who was very apologetic. We just laughed and went on.

Will defintely be going back and look forward to it now that I have a clue as to what I'm shooting for. Some of the blind shots are very deceiving.

Played on Sunday 8/23/09 with a 10:20 tee time. We got out right on time and played in just 4:40. Not bad for a Sunday muni course.
As alway this course was all that you could expect from a muni. The greens are wonderful, true and fast, but hold well played shots. There are a few bare spots in the fairways, but for the most part, very nice and rolling like it's summertime :)
If I have any complaint, it's with the GPS. All greens are presented with the pin 15 feeet deep and dead center. All other distances seem fine and once again considering it's a muni, GPS is a plus, but it could at least be correct.

Played the Wolf on 5/15 with a 7:45 tee time. To begin with the customer service was great! Everyone was friendly and willing to do whatever was needed to make you comfortable and make sure you had a great time.
The morning started out windy so our group expected a rough day, but it actually got more still as the day wore on. As a result we were able to play the course and enjoy the many wonderful views and the fantastic grooming over the entire course.
The tees and fairways were in great shape, with no bare spots and wonderfully lush lies in the fairways. The greens were somewhat fast, but rolled true and were a challenge from far away, and fair.
We played from the Yellow tees, which are comparable to most whites, with a 71.9/129 rating (I think) and shot my best round of the year, an 83! Tried not to let that influence my review too much, but, well......????? I will definitely be going back and hope to play the other 2 courses there before years end.

I played this as part of a tournament on May 3. The wind blew constantly at about a 30 mph clip so club selction was difficult and it was hot, but I still had a good time.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, bag drop guys were great! Range leaves a lot to be desired, the balls were a mess and twice we had to wait for them to retrieve balls to continue.

The greens were in nice shape and the fairways lush. Unfortunately, I haven't seen worse sand traps anywhere. They were filled with stones and pebbles, were rock hard and had very little sand in some.

All in all it's a nice course but very unimaginative. Being a desert course it's pretty flat and a little on the boring side without the wind, but what we experienced yesterday was insane!!

Not sure I'd go back, there are many other options in the area that are better.

Played this for the first time May2 in a tournament. Found the staff to be friendly, but I wasn't able to buy even a bag of tees in the golf shop.

I enjoyed the course. I thought it was a nice challenge, using all of the clubs in the bag. Nice layout and intersting elevation changes. For the most part, the fairways were in nice shape, the greens smooth and receptive, with my only complaint being the traps had very little sand in them and were hard.

I look forward to going back sometime and playing a leaisurely round with freinds.

Wonderful course, very challenging and if you're not straight, it can eat up golfballs in a hurry. Some orced carries, lots of ravines, and genereally a challenge in every shot. Wind is always in play here as it often swirls thorugh the hills. There are some wonderful views!
Customer service is top notch! Practice faciliites are everything you'd expect with seperate chipping and putting areas and grass range.
Greens must alwsy demand your full attention but are true and usually quite fast.

Generally this is a nice layout. A nice mix of holes from a distance standpoint and will use most every shot in your bag.
Desk people always seem to be rushed and too busy to actually interact with those they don't know, but do a pretty nice job of taking care of people.
Pace of play is terrible and unless you know someone there is never an early tee time available, regardless of whether you're looking during the week or weekends.
