Well, I decided to try something different and venture out to Yucaipa and give this place a try. I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course and pace of play. Click4teeTimes got us on at 7:45 this past Sunday. We played in under 4 hours and never had to wait for any shot (was there something on TV I forgot to watch?)

Anyway, the fairways were in good shape and only a few times was I left with a tight lie in the middle of the fairway. The greens rolled pretty true and quick. They were listed as a 10 on the dry erase board and for the most part they were, but once you make the turn and deal with teh greens that have dried out from the morning moisture...I think I experienced one that was nearing 13 on the meter.

Give this a track your time and effort. If you are a golfer, you are a friend of mine, and this friend would not steer you wrong.

Prior to playing this course, go to www.escenagolf.com and check out any specials. Jack too a minimalist approach to this design. A lot of the holes look similar to on another which can be bothersome, but the condition of the course well makes up for that. Again, check out the website to see if there are any specials. If there are, try the course. If no specials are present...wait.

Overall though, I will go back. I want to see what the clubhouse is going to look like. Right now, they are in a temp location.

I played this course back in May. I have to agree with most of the other reviews when they say it is flat with little personality. I like this course because it is close to our timeshare and it offers good rates on www.click4teetimes.com. The course is in good shape and the staff is EXCELLENT! Give the Boulder course a try, and yes...watch out for small stones in the bunkers.

Ok, this course happens to be my home course so I am kind of partial to it BUT...take note of a few things.
1. If there is any doubt about wind, CALL. Do not play this course in the wind. Fontana isn't breezy, it's PERFECT STORM wind. Just call to make sure.
2. This is a very nice course, but in my humble opinion it is not worth the hefty weekend pricetag. Play during the week or take advantage of the donovan daily specials.
3. Consider playing from the whites the first tiem out. There is a fair amound of trouble off the tees that can be avoided if you tee up from the whites. Play blues or blacks the next time out.
4. Have fun, fix your ball marks and don't hit my house.
