The course is in very nice shape. It is very lush and the cool wind make the condition very pleasant. What most impress me was the greens. Although it was a bit lush and would do for a good mow, it was consistent but most of all very smooth. Once I got acustom to the speed, it was a good day on the green. The hard part was getting on the green. What surprise me was the thickness of the rough. It was so thick that the ball would sit up on top of the rough. You better pick it clean out of these rough. Unless your name is Tiger, hacking and chopping out these rough will not get you far. The few fairways I found were also in very good shape. The course has wide fairways and large greens. The only difficulty is avoiding the trees and negotiating the wind. Used an email special and played the early afternoon for $26 with a cart. For this price it was worth the greens fee. It is regularly $44 with a cart. I went out as a single and was able to finished in 3 hours( after a 5some and 4some let me play through).

The course is well cared for. Almost every aspects (tee box, fairway, greens, pace of play) was great. Of course the heat and humidity might have kept the crowds to a minimum. We started at 4pm and finished before 7:30. Although we were but a twosome, the two 4somes ahead of us played very quickly and we waited only on 2 (very long) par 3s. The greens were consistently immaculate. The only complaint I have is about the bunker. The sands were packed down but at least they were all like that. The staffs were great. Everybody from the pro shop down to the cart boys made us feel welcome. With this enviroment, it was well worth the $70 twilight fee for a relaxing afternoon of golf.

WARNING: You will not tee off at your assigned tee time. This the 2nd time I played this course & the same problems occured. The pro shop is runned by a bunch of easily pressured junior golfers so there is a lot of disorganization & confusion. I had a 1:40 tee time and got there at 1. I tried to check in but was told to wait. At 1:15, I went back to check in and again was told to wait. In the course of waiting, I notice that these guys were squeezing in 5 groups of 5somes who were late for their tee time and some group of "regulars" who had no tee time (the only reason I know this is the guy tried to say the "pro" promised them a 1:40 tee time but he was no where on their schedule). Upon hearing this, I started to complained and was finally checked in at 1:40. We did not tee off until 2:15. This is the 2nd time this happen to me on this course. So be prepared to fight for your tee time even if you have reservation. Once on the course, it was slow because of the five 5somes in front of us and the heat. Over 5 hours later, it was finally over. The only good thing about the course was the marshalls. Groups were being waved up on par 3s and cold water was on hand.

If you want to play a course with spectacular ocean vistas, then Trump would be it. The 1 and only negative thing I would say about this course is it's price ($195/round). Other than that, if you have friends from out of town wanting to play a course with an ocean view (every holes but the 1st have an ocean view), Trump beats all the other courses in the immediate LA/Orange County area. The course is immaculate. The rough is almost US Open quality. I would say the rough is as tough to get out of as Torrey Pines. For example, I was able to advance the ball 75yds with a CPR 24 hybrid from a uphill lie; after I hit my ball, two other balls (dislodged from the same area of the rough) came rolling down to my feet. The fact that they were both Pro-Vs meant that their owners probably spent a lot of efforts looking for these guys. In the course of the round, I ended up finding 6 Pro-Vs in the rough (not OB or enviromental areas; but in play) while in the process of looking my own ball in the rough. My suggestion is to bring wide sole irons and plenty of hybrids; and keep your eyes on the ball when it goes into the rough (it's in there ...somewhere). The greens have lots of undulation and hard breaks (and not necessarily toward the ocean). The speed on the green is not as fast as you think, other than the obvious downhiller. Play your approach shots like a link style course. There is no "1 hop and stop" on these greens, even on the par 3s. And finally, play 1 tee forward from what you use to, especially if it's your 1st time there. Having to carry over 200 yards over a ravine and into a 20-30mph head wind after 16 holes on a par 3 seems to take the fun out a beautiful course.

Started late Monday afternoon (about 4pm) and finished by 7:30. The course is in great condition; very lush and not beat up. The staffs were very nice and very cooperative. Only complaint would be the inconsistent bunker; a couple bunkers looked fluffy but thin. The greens were slow and bumpy at times but were consistent and lush. Absolutely worth the $35 green fees.

Great condition. Beautiful scenery. Well worth the $180 greens fee. Good pace (never have to wait on any tee box...even on par 3s). Played the round in under 4 hours. The course is lush. Greens are consistent. My only objection (not necessarily complaint) is the sand in the bunker. For such a nice and pricey course, I expected fluffy white sand in the bunker instead there is loose semi-packed tan colored sand. I wish they have some kind of GPS system. Those yardage sprinkler were small and hard to find. Bring your camera and just enjoy the golf.

The course is in good condition. As typical, we started about 20 minutes after our tee time. The pace was slow at the beginning but it did pick up after the 4th hole. Tee box was moved forward so a driver was not needed on most par 4s. Only complaint was the bunker. It was more like loose dirt than packed sand. Greens were undulating, smooth ,and medium speed but very consistent. Overall, it was a decent course for $25 walking. The flat terrain makes walking very easy.
