who: Me, myself & I (Again)
what: Another on the course practice round of 18
where: San Juan Hills in Camino Capistrano, CA
when: Monday 05/09/16 @ 632Am
why: .... why not
After many marketing emails received, I finally decided to play a round at San Juan Hills. Tee time was at 0632am, early morning traffic caused a bit of delay, therefore was late and was paired with another couple gentlemen starting at 0705am.
Most if not all tee boxes were in excellent conditions with green grass and leveled ground. Fairways were in very decent playing conditions with a few bare and dirt spots throughout; roughs were evenly cut to length and somewhat flat with a few exposed tree roots; greens were in great conditions and OMG weren't they tough. Overall, SJH is a great golf course for both playing experience and values. POP was about 4 1/2 hours only because the 5some in front were a bit slow, otherwise it should have been a well under 4hrs round.
SJH will indeed be in the come back list.
Til next time, have a great golfing day.

what: another daily round of 18
where: Whittier Narrows Golf Course in Rosemead, CA
when: Sunday 05/08/2016 @ 345pm
why: conveniently located on the way from client meeting in Rosemead, CA

As i was driving back from the client meeting, saw a golf course sign right before the freeway entrance; without any hesitation, i just went straight to the course, and walked in, booked, carted, and ready on first tee by 345pm. Was able to pair up with a couple to local players, then...golf on ...
Course condition was very nice, well kept for a public course in LA county. Tee boxes were green and level, fairways were decent with semi even rough, bunkers were being worked on; greens were awesome, soft, and slow to medium. Course has a very different layout, it has 3 9-holes courses, therefore i played 2 courses for the total of 18, which were the Pine and River Courses; perhaps I will play the Mountain Course on my next visit. Overall it was a fun round at a very nice and decent course for a very affordable green fee of $25 riding on a Sunday afternoon.
Will Definitely be on the come back list
Til next time .... have a great golfing week. .....

what: another round of 18
where: Cresta Verde Golf Club in Corona, CA
when: Saturday 05/07/2016 @ 634am
why: practice makes perfect ...
.
Was unable to persuade anyone to go to Corona at 0600AM on Saturday morning; therefore i had no choice but going Solo.
Early Saturday traffic was a breeze from OC to Corona, took no more than 25 mins to arrive at the course. Check-in was nice and easy, and ready to go by 0625AM. I was paired up with a local and regular golfer who was also going Solo as his playing partner was unavailable, very nice older gentlemen, was later advised that He and his partner has the 2nd tee time on every Saturday reserved.
Course condition was below average as it really need improvements on almost every fairways; tee boxes were at least decent and level, fairways were different colors and many
large bare areas; bunkers were actually being worked on; greens were near perfect with slow to medium speed with many hidden breaks and tilts. Course lay-outs were very nice and interesting as they blended into the residential areas and hillsides; the view of OC and Riverside County can be seen on the greens of a few holes. Beautiful course should clean ups and improvements are being made. I was told that the course is actually in much better shape now than it was 2 years ago, as the owners were going thru family matters. Works and improvements are being made on a daily basis now as the Wife is now handling the course and the sole decision maker. Lets just have our fingers crossed for the best because i can really picture how beautiful this course can be on its glory days; hopefully those day will be soon....
Will definitely be on the come back list!

WHAT: A friendly practice round of 18
WHERE: Green River Golf in Corona
WHEN: Wed 05/04/2016 @ 300pm
WHY: ...still thinking of a reason ...

It was one of those last minute decision deal. Rates are much higher and more crowded in and around OC; so we decided to go outside of OC, and the closest course was Green River indeed...
Called in booking while we were stuck on the 91 fwy traffic, and was told it was OK to just come in. Arrived at about 250p, booked as super twitelight special, got carts, on the 1st tee and ready to go by 300pm. Awesome!
Everything was great ... except for "wind"??? we were caught by surprises with all of the high winds on the the course, whereas it was nice and calm in OC, and while driving here. Well, who cares ? we thought, if we can play in this condition, we can play anywhere.
Course was in excellent condition, the best that I have seen, tee boxes were nice and flat, fairways were fresh and green, roughs were nicely trimmed and soft, greens were nice and smooth, bunkers are clean and may need a bit more sands in some. Overall, the course condition was a B+ in my opinion.
POP was better than awesome, no one were in front or behind us, POP was in less than 3 hours. Wind did died out when we reached the back nine, and remained calm to the rest of the way.
GR will definitely be on my come back list, and also one of my favorite course outside of OC, and may even be my most favorite thus far. Great place
Til next time...Have a great golfing day!

WHO: Myself & Birthday Boy
WHAT: BDay Special round of 18
WHERE: Tustin Ranch Golf Club
WHEN: 05/03/16 @ 736am
WHY: Why not ?
BDay Special! could not really give up the opportunity to play at one of the most expensive public golf course in Orange County at half the cost...Im in
736am Tee time; Checking in was as expected with great customer services; especially when tee time cost about $150 per 18 .... it was nice indeed.
House rules.... we had to start on the Back9 first, then Front9..Odd, I thought, but it really doesnt matter to me. To my surprise, TR is not really all that, tee boxes were nice and clean, fairways and roughs could really need some works, i was disappointed to find such conditions here at TR, greens however were great, did not like the fact that on some holes I walk along the sidewalk of Tustin Ranch Rd while other holes I was greeted by people looking out their bedroom windows; so much for being "Private". It is no different than David L Baker for the most part.
Overall, it was a decent course. I will not pay the regular rate, for sure. will definitely comeback on Bdays....

WHO-Me, myself, and I
WHAT-A Practice Round of 18
WHERE-David L Baker in Fountain Valley, CA
WHEN-Monday 05/02/2016 @ 1145am
WHY:
Decided to go for a round focusing on short game, no other place can better than David L Baker; not to mention about email special rate. It was really cheaper than going to the driving range, really.
Course was in excellent condition. It looked as though they really put lots of monies and efforts in making the course to be at it best. Starting from the pro shop, every employee was very nice, polite, and knowledgeable. New cart fleet; cart look and feel great. Tee boxes were in nice and green, fairways were soft and fresh, rough were evenly cuts, greens were awesome. Just need some minors touch up with sand traps, and the water in the lake.
POP was not slow at all, finished within 4 hours. After all, for $20 riding a round of 18; I will do it again any day.....

WHAT: A Round of 16
WHERE: Costa Mesa-Los Largos Course
WHEN: Sunday 05/01/2016 @ 415PM
WHY: Why not
It was a last minute decision on going for a round. It was a friend's idea to go for a Super Twitelite round after work; personally, as long as there was daylight, I am there. Did not get on the 1st tee til 435pm after all of the pre-booked; never knew that there were many golfers going out in the late afternoon....at least when I was told to be put on the waiting list...at 400pm???
It was finally " green light" for us at the 1st tee. It was actually moving quite fast in my opinion, i guessed everyone really want to get thru as much hole as they can before sundown; we were able to get through 16 before we had to call it quit. Great pace, 16 holes in just a little over 2 hours...$22 green fee w/ cart....Super TwiteLite it is....
Los Largos was just aerated about 2 weeks ago, greens are still recovering; there were in great shapes in my opinions.
Tee boxes, fairways, roughs, bunkers were all in great shapes; very well-maintenance and cared-great conditions. Greens were a bit slow but very playable, a couple of more weeks will indeed be awesome. I had a great time, had a great almost complete round, had a few great shots here and there, had a great price for tee time ..... had a great day.
Costa Mesa-Los Largos will definite be on my "come back" list.
Til next time .... Have a great golfing day !

WHO: Myself
WHAT: A Practice Round of 18
WHERE: Willowick Golf Club in Santa Ana
WHEN: Saturday 04/30/16 @ 1145Am
WHY: Golf was 1st on the to do list
No one was available for a round of 18, so I decided to go by myself, with myself, and for myself. Checking in was prompt and pleasant; as expected, i was paired up with another 2-some for the round.
Course was better than average for playing condition, could be much better (that was probably why the rate was so attractive, especially in OC). There were more bald spots at tee boxes than there were grass, had to tee 10 yards back on some holes just to get a better striking spot. Fairways were average and harder than most courses, dried, and bald in some areas. Roughs were actually in better conditions than most fairways. Greens were above average for the most parts; there were a few that can really need cleaning as well as repairing. Overall, it was decent for the price; will still be on the list for the last resource. It was a great day for me personally, as long as there is golf in the day-the day will be complete.
Til next time ... take great care and have a great golfing day!

WHAT: Round of 18 under the beautiful sunshine Southern Cali
WHERE: Coyote Hills Golf Club in Fullerton, California
WHEN: Friday 04-22-16 @ 135pm Teetime
WHY: To play on ALL available courses whenever given an opportunity.
--- "The Picture worth a thousand words" indeed. Beautiful golf course from any angles, aspects, designing concept, lay-outs; most of all ... the grass conditions - near perfect from tee boxes, into roughs, back onto fairways, and finally landing on greens. Every hole carries its own unique signature, and is completely distanced from the previous and the next. Furthermore, each hole lies at different elevations along with obstacles to really provide a true golf experiences. It is where Beginners (Rookies) will learn to appreciate the games of Golf and those who have gone before them; experiences definitely pay off to those that vested many hours, days, weeks, years to the game, at C.H.. There are 4 different tee choices depending on golfers' ability and experiences; each choice carries its own level of difficulty and placement of the tee shot, and is clearly noticeable.
-It was a great day of golf with perfect weather with a non-delay playing pace. Personally, I had a great day without any issues with anyone/anything (except for my golf game ;>), despite the fact that green fee costs $65/member rate at twilight and nearly 2 dozens of golf balls that i have left on the hillside of every hole of the course ... it was a GREAT day! Then again, "you really get what you paid for" is all that I have to say about this course...VIP services from the start, during, and the end of the round...it is well worth it, CH will definitely be on my come-back list....hopefully the next time around perhaps just one sleeve of ball instead of nearly 2 boxes ....
Til next time, have a great Golfing day ....

As a rookie to the game of golf, I am trying to practice and play at as many courses as I can, here is my most recent playing experience @ Fullerton GC in Fullerton, CA...
WHO: Myself and 3 other avid golfing friends
WHAT: Round of 18 w/ Cart at $29/Player thru Golfzing.com (Not Bad)
WHERE: Fullerton GC
WHEN: Sunday 04/17/2016 @ 1220pm
WHY:
- Can not resist the $29/player on Sunday afternoon, so off we went. Staffs were friendly and well trained, which really helps to keep most of everyone and everything in order as intended. The course lay-out is quite interesting with many twists and turns here and there which keeps us golfer quite entertained; loved the narrow fairways protected either by a stream or hilly tops which in my opinion are great balls trappers. This is the course where I finished the round with more balls than when i started; I was able to find at least 2 balls everytime when went looking for my ball after a not so perfect shoi; hence leave one pocket on your golf bag empty for newly found golf balls on your next visit.
- Tee boxes were in decent shapes, better if it can be placed not so far from the original marks. Fairways were mostly narrows, in above average conditions, not as green as most other course (prob because they are adhere to the local water alert program) signs were posted on carts and thrpughout. Greens were good, 7 out of 10 in my opinion, semi smooth, great feels; loved the different in sizes and angle of elevation.
- Overall, I would rate Fullerton to be Good and will definitely on my come back list.

Have a great golfing day !

Goose Creek was the last minute pick on our Monday Golf Tour on 04/11/2016, primarily thru recommendations on Greenskeeper.org. Apparently it was right from the start as we were waiting for our lunch order to be ready at around 01:00pm we were able to phone in our bookings for 238pm with ease.
It was even better as we arrived and were able to tee off at 215pm, could not really ask for anything better than that. The course was in almost perfect condition from a clean parking lot, wide and open on-grass practice range, well stock pro shop, friendly staff, and of course near perfect tee boxes and fairways and almost perfect greens.
The course layout was nearly perfect in my personal opinion, with easy looking wide fairways but yet tricky elevations along with doglegs, rugged terrains, bunkers, and deceiving distanced par 3's. It covered most if not all of courses obstacles thru all of its 18 holes. Pace of play was very well within the expected 4 hours +/- 15mins, $39/per golfer riding is more than reasonable. Overall, the trip was well taken; not only did we have a great round of golf, but also able to experience the feeling when playing on a well kept grass. Personally I will definitely come back whenever possible, and so would i recommend this course to anyone, Great course.
