The course was in really great shape today. If you're able to make a trip out here in the next few days, before the Champions Tour Q-School First Stage (Oct 30 - Nov 4), you will be impressed.

Played Legends midday today. Although I've seen this course too wet, as the most recent poster complains, it was just fine in that respect today. Also, it appears that they are putting in some of that good sand that they had put in on the Champions course a while back. Furthermore, there were several areas marked as Ground Under Repair, which is a much appreciated improvement over prior rounds in which no such demarcation had occurred, even though it was obviously warranted. So, good job on these improvements, guys!

Now for the bad news. Although the fairways are dry, several of the bunkers continue to have standing water in them. Also, I don't know what golfingdude is talking about as to the condition of the greens. I'm sure they'll be fine in a few days, but as of today the aerification holes were still visible and in effect. I saw multiple putts ride the troughs created by these holes against the slope of the green. I played Champions on Friday, and the greens had fully recovered there, but Legends has a couple of days left before they're back to form.

All things considered, this course is worth playing, and all the more so in a couple of days when the greens have FULLY recovered from the aerification. Especially once the new sand has been added to all the traps (they were working back from 18, I think, and were on 16 today).

Played this course early yesterday morning. We finished in less than 4 hours. The greens are great - although they are not particularly fast, they roll true and receive approach shots well. The sand is the best I've played in the area. The course is short and fairly forgiving, but many of the greens are multi-tiered, so you have to hit good shots to score well. If you don't need a back-breaker of a challenge to enjoy your round, this is a very good course for the money.

marcbrdtrts,

I'm not sure what's happened to you in the last 12 hours, but I'll let our previous exchanges speak for themselves with regards to your true opinion of this course.

What this *gentleman* has failed to mention is that, in the last 10 days, new, quality sand has been added to the bunkers on the last 6 holes of this course. At this rate it should just be a couple more weeks before the bunker problems have been fully resolved. So much for being a fair source of feedback on the conditions of the course, ye of few consonants.

He is probably too distracted by his own mediocre golf to bother with providing a robust reporting of the conditions of this course.

What we have here is a failure to communicate. People read this feedback in order to decide whether it is worth their time and money to play the course. Actions speak louder than words, so clearly Mr. Rancho Mirage thinks that this course is worth playing. I think what he is trying to say is that this course, although very nice, could be a truly top-shelf facility if some of these conditioning issues were dealt with. Unfortunately, his message is muddled by the way he dwells on the negatives. Consequently, when someone reads his feedback looking for an "is it worth it" type of comment, what they see is a very negative review, even though his opinion of this course is clearly high enough to justify his frequent play of it.

Played Oaks/Creek at about 7:30 this morning. I really enjoyed this course. The greens are very good - very fast but very soft. Tee shots hit in the fairway are rewarded with consistent, clean lies. My only reccomendation would be to cut the rough a little higher. As it was, the only penalty for hitting into the rough was that you couldn't get a lot of spin on the ball, but it did not effect the distance I hit the ball with my irons. Overall, a nice, playable course.

They've started to address the problems with the sand described by previous commenters. Considering how many bunkers there are (about 70, I'd guess), it could take a while to do the whole course, but it is heading in the right direction. Too bad about the home counstruction, but still a great, tough layout.
