Played Harbor last night (7/23). Price is fantastic, especially at twilight ($8.50 for 9 holes). Course is wide open, short, and not really that challenging. Tee boxes are in disrepair, with many being uneven or sloped, and almost all are pockmarked with unrepaired divots. Greens are abysmally slow and bumpy. It's impossible to get a true roll or gauge the speed of any of the greens in relation to any of the others. Sand was ok, but had a lot of small rocks throughout - I'm just glad I don't play forged wedges. Fairways and rough are pretty good though, and the staff was generally pretty good and courteous. Pace of play was slow, but with 3 five-somes in front of us and us being a five-some as well, it was to be expected.

Played 7/18. Course was in good condition. We were following a tournament, so pace of play was pretty slow, but I was told by others in our group who had played there before that that was not generally the case. Course was well kept, and in pretty good condition. It's not a difficult course by any means, but there are a few interesting holes with plenty of tight fairways and some nice dog legs. The sand is fantastic - soft and fluffy. Most tee shots aren't penalized if they stray too much, but there are plenty of largish fairway bunkers with deceptively high lips. Greens are almost all tiered, and have plenty of undulation. I'd say greens were challenging, receptive and moderately fast, and in pretty good condition. Original plan was to walk, which is reasonable to do at this course, but decided to cart. Cart has GPS built in, which makes the fee worth it. Would love to play this course during the week when there is less traffic and when cheaper.

Rio Hondo was a pretty fun round of golf. The course was in pretty good condition, particularly for the amount of play it sees on a weekly basis. Fairways are pretty tight, with pretty penal elements left and right. Water comes into play on a number of holes, particularly No. 16 (green mostly surrounded by water). Greens were faster than I was used to, but mostly flat. On the front 9, there are back to back par 5s and back to back par 3s, which mess with the pace of the round. In fact, our round was pretty slow because of some slow play in front of us. All in all, not a bad value.

Victoria is a good value muni. Since it's close to my office, it's a good place to get on after work and play nine with co-workers. Generally not too difficult (no water, limited sand), especially if you keep it out of the wood chips. All in all, good for a pretty fun round of golf.
