I have played this place more then any other track since moving to Washington. There is always plenty of maintenance staff working their tails off. Hand watering, edging, mowing EVERYTHING! Red shirts and blue helmets everywhere, so there is not much to complain about here.

Bring your wallet, and someone else's while you are at it. The most expensive of green fees around, the view demands it. While our Family is boycotting the food and beverage at Newcastle, the golf is a green light. The finest practice facility around and that includes the private clubs. Two huge pitching and chipping greens, two huge putting greens, and one on the first tee of Creek. A grass hitting area at the back of the range and a one of kind 70 yard approach practice area that is rentable by the hour. Killer staff in the pro shop and on course. Thanks to Wendy and the gang for always making it like I am a member at a private course.

Back it up to the blue tees if you are a 12 or better, 8's or better can stretch it out all the way back for a deeper experience. My best round here was a 74 and could have gone even lower if not for a double on 9. I feel very comfortable on this side as Coal can get a little mean at times and is much longer then Creek.

Buy an OKI card to soften the blow on the wallet, Tuesdays are always great, and come the off season you can have this place to yourself.

Mt. Si, The Chameleon of the NorthWest.

I have played Mt. Si in all four seasons and it never plays the same from tide to tide. I just posted some photos from last Winter (2013ish), check them out. There was snow on the ground and the place was frozen solid. High of 40 and sunny, the course to myself, and plenty of time to take some good pictures.

I was reminded of my icy adventures after playing there again this week. Except instead of frozen fairways, they are rock hard from a dry Summer and little water. I highly suggest that you make it up here before the rain comes, this place is SSSOOOOO much fun when it is hard and fast as it is now. Fairways run and run, green still hold ok, but they keep them much longer for a couple of reasons. One, the locals would go bananas if they cut them down and they ran at 13. Second, water is a big problem as it looks like the course is limited to how much they can use. Three, the small greens would not hold and are treacherous when the hole is cut in the toughest places. Back and forth, five putt nightmares make for six hour rounds, and grumpy Grandpas.

Peace out to the Grandpa we hit into twice and had the marshall come and bust us down for hitting it to them. Truth is, one was a 190 yard 8 iron layup that just keep going, the other a 240 yard four iron on a par 5 that rolled a 100 yards. He still thinks we were doing it on purpose, swear not the case.

Attentive cart girl, killer Mt. Si Burger (bacon, cheddar, great buns), bang for your buck bar, can't beat the view, never a problem getting on (thanks Ron and Mr. Proudfoot). Less we forget the driving range, cool little putting green, and a dedication to Jr. golf that is personified by Lil' Mt. Si, a pitch and putt for the kids. FYI, grass hitting range on the Lil' Si side.

Another OKI course that is well maintained and a ton of fun. Started on the back and had the place to myself. The first group I even saw in front of me was on 16. Meet a great marshall who gave me the low down on some of the tougher tee shots and lines of sight to take. Since it was slow, he swung by a few times to check in on me.

There are a couple 5 pars that should be par 4's, but the what the heck, everyone feels a little taller reaching a green under regulation.

Biscuits and gravy, a good bar, and friendly staff. Defiantly worth the green fee. Greens are true, very few poor lies, lots of birdies to be had.

Hi GK Fans,

I had heard a ton about West Seattle from many sources. Come to find out My Grandfather InLaw was a club champ there in the 80's.

First off, there is no practice facility, so get loose elsewhere. The practice putting green is very well kept and I could stay there for hours. The old skool club house is a welcome blast from the past. Lots of wood, low ceilings, and a cool lowered bar (That opens early, need the swing lube with no range).

One knock I hear over and over again is that this place gets packed and can take six hours to play. Lucky for us, we were off at 0715 and spun around in less then four. I enjoyed playing here, although I wish I had some better course knowledge as I hit it into some bad spots that I happened to be aiming for.

Most of what you get here is expected from muni track designed long ago. Some tee boxes provide wonderful, mostly unseen views looking east at Seattle. The marshal was helpful and very friendly. Help line us up on the eyeful that is the 5 par on the elevated, bombs away hole, found on the back. I did a poor job of keeping track of the holes, so excuse my lack of detail. There is a hole on the back, I want to say 15, that is BEAST from the tips. It is almost 80 yards longer then the next tee box up. It's a ton and a half to the corner of the right facing dogleg and a 2 club uphill to a slick and very tricky green.

If I could, I would flip the 9's as the par 5 9th is a dandy. What a sweet look at a tiny green with a valley short, back to front slope, and if you get on in 3, mind you putt if you want to get out at level. 18 is kind of a let down as far as a finishing hole. All and all, I will be back. Looking to match one of Gpa' s low rounds.

Enjoyed a round here on a very nice day. The golf course was nice and dry, plenty of roll, and some quick putting surfaces. As all Oki course, this one is well maintained and has a nice staff.

It has more of a public, muni type, feel to it as opposed to the resport type feeling of some of the other OKI courses.

This is a fantastic community resource with a Family staff and great care for their customers. It is a shorter layout with tons of OB riding along the river. A real eye full as far as views, but a bit of back a forth, with little difficulty.

In this day and age, I think they do the best they can with the resources available to them. Could do with some over seeding and a bit of trap work. You know what you are getting when you get there and I suggest everyone to go regardless of your skill level or expectations of conditions.

This is hidden gem on the Eastside. Mt. Si towers over the golf course on every hole and provides a fantastic backdrop for play. This is short layout that requires some local knowledge or you can find yourself scratching your head after hitting some good shots.

The staff was accommodating and there was a player assistant on the course all day. The refreshment cart was around right when it was needed. The Mt. Si burger is no joke. No frozen meat here, a giant, juicy, burger with the works. Delish.

The layout is a blast. The lack of length is made up with tons of OB and tiny greens. I was disappointed with the state of the greens, they could have used a haircut and some fresh water as it has been hot here. Great views of the river and a natural setting that is impossible to fake. Can't wait to go back and experience a better pace of play and some faster putting surfaces.

Played both course under winter conditions. They have done a good job of keeping the place playable. The course drains well and the greens are in nice shape. Coal Creek has large greens that are true to read. This place is losing money keeping the course so nicely treated in low volume times, Summer should be nice.

The last time that played this golf course the first Bush was in office and it was in such sad shape that I vowed to never play it again. This place is in top-notch shape. There are some “thin” spots is some low areas but for the most part the place is lush. The greens are hearty and smooth. Great root structure holds your line well and they are running at a fair pace. The rough is full and fair, especially around the greens. The bunkers are full of decent sand and are groomed nicely. The golf course is in the same shape as many of the local south county private courses. Here’s the best part, I had to stand around for 30 minutes to GET A GAME, no waiting list, very peaceful and quite. Great bar, great staff. All in all a very comfortable place to play and stay for lunch or a c%ck tail. The golf course is narrow and can be tougher then the 119 slope advertises.

The greens are in the best shape in 15 years of playing here. Soft, so they hold and lush enough so you can make some putts. Beware, drought has made this place hard as a rock and you can get some thin lies in the fairways and even thinner ones around the greens.
