Started playing golf in 1976 with guys at work and weekends with family. Participated in the company golf league each summer from 1976-1980. During that time, playing in the league, playing on weekends and the range once or twice a week, was able to get my handicap down to 11. Since then I've played maybe once or twice a year, for birthday rounds, family outings, etc. Was self taught along with Golf Digest tips and advice from friends. It wasn't until recently in 2017 that I finally took lessons. And now, after 40 years, have found that I was doing it all wrong. So even though now I have a better fundamentally sound swing, my scores don't reflect that (95-120's). I tend to play pretty consistent bogey golf but have a couple blow up holes per round. It could be because I gamble too much... take the driver to try to carry the corner instead of taking a 5 iron to place it at the corner. Now I just enjoy the golf outings to socialize with my sons, grandsons, and work friends and don't take the competitive side of the game so serious.
