The bunkers in this course were great, lots of fluffy sand! Unfortunately, everything else was horrible. The course was dry over all. The tee boxes were beat up and basically dirt patches. The fai... Continue »

The mighty have fallen. Played Rancho twice this month; it's my regular course. It is a great layout with lots of subtle challenges. The par 3 holes in particular are quite difficult, each for a diffe... Continue »

Just as an FYI, Rancho is going back to Blue, White and Red tees as of yesterday 4/20/10. They had been using 4 sets of tees this past year or so (Black, purple, etc). A groundskeeper was following our group yesterday spray painting the rocks new colors.

I would like to update my May 15, 2009 report. Greens are running smooth and medium fast at this time. I did not notice any "character changes" though they may be so subtle, and I don't usually play here very often. Course is in great shape now, even with a temporary tee on 5.

When the right green/left tee combination is used, you have one of the more difficult shots to execute on this course. If you have a high fade, now's the time. A hard cut may find you in the wood pilings. A straight shot has a chance to get past the big Euc tree, but even a little off line and you're in trouble.

Wood chips in the trees on the right are sudden death. You are in deep trouble if you go right off of the tee. Approach to green is tricky because anything short is gobbled up by the front, but anything long is in high grass on the back hill. Green slopes extremely hard left to right so be careful.
