Played here on 3/7/26, crazy winds made it tough but still enjoyed the round for the most part. Plenty of target golf, greens were pretty insane in every way: very fast, many had multiple tiers with crazy breaks, and unfortunately plenty of pitch mark damage and unprepared pitch marks. In its best condition this is a fun and challenging course with some scenic holes, but I feel like the price is pretty hefty to play here on a regular basis but I’ll probably try to make my way back when the weather conditions are more docile to get a better experience

Played Sunday, 12/14 8:30 tee time. Out on time. My twosome paired with a walking single. Course is in very good shape. Major renovations complete, still some work being done here and there with some areas being re-sodded. A little damp when we started, dried out as round went on. Greens were pretty quick for TR, was told 10 -10.5. Of course I was above the hole on several greens so putting was tough. Fewer ball marks than normal due to greens being pretty firm. Still fixed my share. Fairways in nice shape, excellent coverage. Round a bit patchy and some areas had some standing water. In a few bunkers and actually had a good bunker day so will say they were in good shape.
Pace was right at 4 hours - great for a Sunday morning.
If Tustin is your type of course, highly recommend right now - conditions are very good.

Played Sunday 11/16 with a noon tee time. POP was fine at 3:50 but only because when we caught up with three terribly slow groups stacked up on 5/6 and no one behind us we dropped back and replayed holes 3 and 4. The course was CPO as to be expected given the intense rains over the weekend. We were lucky to not see any rain, though for those that know the course, it did not drain well. That being said tee boxes were 7/10, fairway 6/10, rough 6/10, bunkers 7/10 and greens 9/10. Despite the rain, these mightve been the best greens I have played this year. Smooth, exceptionally true but with some divots. Given their firmness the divots were shallow and easily fixed. My friend is a ranch member so we paid $150 which felt fair. Rack rate is close to pushing what I consider reasonable but when a dumpster fire like Skylinks is $100+ one needs to reevaluate how one judges the market. All and all - recommended at this time.

Played 10/15/25 @720. All 18 holes are now open, they said all the major improvements have been completed. There are still some items being worked on peripherally but all the fairways are open with some occasional GUR areas. Great playing conditions all around. It was cart path only today because of all the rain yesterday but everything was in great shape. Tee boxes were very level with minimal issues. Fairways were soggy but dried out towards the afternoon. Sand traps were very consistent- nice and fluffy (both fairway and greenside). Greens were rolling awesome! They were very quick but held nicely with approach shots. They also became quicker once the sun came out. Many multi-tiered greens made putting fun or frustrating depending on your perspective. I'm glad they finally got everything straightened out because this is one of my favorites in the higher end course category.

Had a work event starting this past Saturday down in Anaheim so went with a colleague over to Tustin Ranch for a fun round after having gotten our work done in the morning. We had some time before our 2:10pm tee time so we ate at the Player's Lounge and then warmed up on the range ahead of our start. We were told that one of the holes (the par 3 3rd) would be closed for maintenance and that we would be starting our round on the 11th hole, then we could replay it to get in 18 holes. Fair enough. But when we did get around to the front nine, both holes 2 AND 3 were closed. Hole 2 is a beautiful par 5 that I would have loved to play and I felt absolutely cheated after having been given completely false information. Both my colleague and the other two players we were paired with were quite livid. And worse, when we finally finished the round, no one was around to direct our complaints to. Very frustrating indeed. One hole was fine, but two? At $190 for 18 holes? Very disappointing. As for the rest of the course, it's actually grown on me a lot since my last two visits, but I still think it's overpriced for what you get - especially when two holes are cut out! But the rest of the course was in pretty good late summer shape with nice, well-maintained and mostly green fairways (dry areas in spots to be fair), very playable rough, nice bunkers for the most part and excellent tee boxes (we played the whites) and greens. The greens were in really nice shape, rolling fast and true and holding shots quite well. They have some tricky green complexes for sure and I think I rolled my best putt ever on the 9th hole green where I was on the proper tier but a sloping section forced me to aim well right and up the ridge before finding the fall line and sinking the 50-footer for birdie. Carts are very nice with GPS and very finely appointed - no complaints there. We also had cart service come out a few times and that was great. POP was not really an issue until we caught the groups in front of us after the two-lost-hole debacle, then it slowed down quite a bit, but we cruised through the first ten holes quite nicely. So all-in-all it was a disappointing experience in one regard but not something that I anticipate will be a regular occurrence at Tustin Ranch. I would recommend waiting until they've sorted out this irrigation issue though on holes 2 and 3 before spending that kind of money to not get what it's all worth.

Played TR Saturday morning @8:50. Cold when we started but warmed up as the round went along. Tee boxes had good coverage. They've done some work fixing/re-doing some of the tee boxes and the work has paid off. Fairways had good coverage - winter setting in as they are starting to get a little brown and tight. Noticed several of the areas that were new sod last time I played are almost healed. Several wet/muddy areas as they continue to complete maintenance. Greens were a little quicker than last time. Not as many ball marks - maybe people have finally learned what a divot tool is. Or most are like me and never hit a green so no divot tool needed LOL. Pace was about 4:15 and could have been better but our group wasn't being pushed so we weren't moving all that quick. Drink cart around a few times on each side.
Course continues to make improvements. New practice putting greens are getting close to opening. Staff is always helpful and pleasant.

Played TR yesterday morning - 7:30 tee time. Friend and I paired with two nice guys. Out on time. Tee boxes are good on most holes, looks like they are letting the grass die on a few boxes and will be replaced with new sod after summer heat. I didn't think it impacted play. Fairways are mostly green, good lies. Rough is a little inconsistent, think and lush in spots and not so much in others. Some GUR spots. Some areas of dead grab grass - again looking like they are letting it die so can be re-sodded after summer. Greens are in nice shape - not nearly as many ball marks as last few times I played. Held shots, medium speed. Still ridiculously hard if you're not on the proper level as most greens have multiple tiers. They are redoing the sand in the bunkers - much needed and the few greenside traps I was in had new, fluffy sand. I'm not a great bunker player, but the new sand made it much easier to play from. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Drink cart around twice on each side.
TR continues to make improvements to the course. They are trying to get back to pre-American Golf conditions. Overall, it's in good condition, a few rough spots they continue to work on, but conditions are nice for mid-summer. Go play.

Was CPO, and as expected, course was still very wet, standing water in some low spots, etc. Tee boxes are good, fairways have good coverage. Some thin spots, mostly on the fairway edges. Greens were medium speed and in good shape.
Course is continuing to work on areas trying to improve conditions. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

Always great to knock another course off the dreaded 100+ list and today I got to accomplish that at Tustin Ranch. Almost nine years to the day from the first and only time I ever played this course, shot 116 and never been back since, so today was fun Christmas Day payback. I didn't remember much about the layout but found it to be very compelling, quite challenging and very rewarding. There's a lot of water in play, bunkers aren't overwhelming in number but strategic in nature, and lengths can vary significantly regardless whether a par 3 or 4. It keeps throwing some new wrinkles at you with each hole, but never gets carried away. Conditions were mostly quite good, but certainly some post-rain muddy areas that could have used some GUR stakes. There were mostly good to very good lies all day but common landing areas on holes showed a lot more wear and tear and unfilled divots. But again, a minor complaint. Greens were showing a few too many ball marks (again, post-rain) for a 'premium' course, but they ran nicely and some are devilishly tiered and banked. What was great? The rough, most of the tee boxes and the sand was super fine and hit great bunker shots all day after landing in a lot of them. We played from the blue tees and outside of one or two they were absolutely fine. We had cart service numerous times throughout the day and that was great, however the (understandable but still frustrating) Cart Path Only rule for the day took some of the fun out of it because you invariably use the 'wrong' club at least a few times per round because you don't want to walk the half hour back to your cart after you realize you do in fact need a bit more loft or distance. That's just always an eye-roller. But overall this place leaves a far better taste in my mouth than my first experience nine years ago, although I do think this course is pretty overpriced when I see normal weekend prices (we paid much less today for some reason - is Christmas Day not usually crowded?) online or anywhere else. But for today's rate, and a really gorgeous sunny day, it was all well worth it. If it weren't such a haul I'd go again next weekend.
