Played a dawn patrol round here this morning. Had a GolfNow rate of $49 as a single, and was paired with a twosome and another single as the first group out. Pace was nice at about 3.5 hours.

The course is still coming in from overseeding, so typical post-overseed conditions for a desert course. Shaggy grass in the fairways, but kind of thin turf underneath for some nice fat shots. Rough pretty lush, but not cut deep, so not too punishing. Tee boxes a little shaggy, but level and easy to find a good spot to tee it up. The greens are VERY slow right now, so you really had to whack your putts hard to get it to go anywhere. At the same time, they are also kind of firm, which makes it hard to put any kind of touch on pitch and chip shots. Play it aggressive and the first couple of bounces would catapult you past the hole without much bite. Play it bump and run and they just would not "run" out at all. The bunkers were more like clay/mud in the early morning, but became a little more playable once they started to dry out.

I think the conditions will continue to improve here in the coming weeks as things get back to normal for winter. Though not the most exciting or challenging layout in the area, it's more interesting than I expected, and it has plenty of beautiful scenery like everywhere else out here. The back nine tightens up a bit with a few funky holes and tricky doglegs like on #10. As one of the more reasonably priced courses in the region, it's not a bad option if you are just looking to get out and play.
