I had the opportunity to play Barona for free today thanks to a close friend. This is one of my favorite courses in San Diego, but I am sad to say it has seen better days. The tee boxes were fine, m... Continue »

Tried to get on yesterday so I called and the Pro Shop told me there was a tournament that went off in the morning and that this has slowed down the course. They told me it was taking 2:45-3 hrs to play nine, yikes. I'm glad they let me know that before I went out there otherwise I would have been...

Hole 4 is the #1 handicap because of it being long, into the wind & a lot of bunkers. Hole info- Dog-leg rightFairway bunkers on the left & right with two ways to hit your drive. Native grass surrounds the hole and green. Bunkers guard front right of green. Green slopes both left to right and right to left. There are two options for tee shot: Option 1: (Long hitters only) Take out your driver and smash it towards the greenside bunkers with a slight draw. This will play perfect. Option 2: This is the safe way. Just hit any club (driver or wood is best) down the fairway on the right

Hole 3 is the irst par 3 and it's the hardest in my mind. It's very long with lots of trouble. Native surrounds the hole as well as bunkers on the front and back left & front right of green. The good news is that you are going down wind & slightly down hill so take 1 less club. Green slopes mostly left to right (aim more let on tee shot, you will get a nice kick) with a large crater in the back right.
