Played this course yesterday 11/3/2012. Was a nice afternoon and figured we'd get a little practice in on developing our short game on this local Par 3 course. Upon calling the GC directly to inquire about available tee times/twilight pricing etc., the Staff member was friendly and accommodating. Indicated it was 'wide open' and 'not busy' and course was in great shape. We paid $25 ea/rate incl cart and our start time was around 1:40pm.
Practice greens had been punched/sanded; so we went directly to Hole1. There was one couple clearing the green; and another couple waiting to tee up. Seems no one cares to double up, so we waited to play out alone. Front 9 went along fine. Note: This is a Par 3 course and mostly used by locals for learning. You'll see ages very young to seniors, men and women. But don't let the Par 3 guise lead you to believe the greens are easy peasy. Apparently they are modeled after some of the most difficult Par 3s of popular courses. (I personally believe the back 9 to be a little more challenging). Greens were 50/50. They apparently punch 1/2 the green; then the other 1/2, as 1/2 of the greens were still showing signs of recent punch/sanding and the other were grown in and running a little slower, with the other side bumpy. With recent overseeding (as with most courses this time of year), tee boxes were in okay shape/some needing a little mow. All was fine, pace was good, THEN we got to the turn and there were 3 groups (twosomes) waiting (including us). There was a 4-some (two guys/two gals), and I couldn't believe it! The girls got up, one hit 3 balls into the bushes 5' in front of them; and the other 2 balls. Okay, learning, I get it - but when they were wearing tank tops and were playing barefooted; I was like What's Up With That?! There is a dress code for the course (as a matter of fact we've played before and friend that joined us had to buy a collared shirt from their pro shop to be allowed to play because they were wearing a T-shirt!) We sat watching in agony this 18 Hole Par 3 round of golf turning into a round in excess of 5hrs! Turned around and went back to the Pro Shop to get permission to replay the front 9 again, and even though it was slow, it was better. And amazingly we finished and was turning in our cart and the barefooted golf group was just approaching the 18th Hole. Wow!! So with that said, be prepared...this course tends to play slow. It is a fun course and interesting Par 3s. Bunkers were hit or miss with the sand levels, but playable. Nice course to hone your game, but will try your patience with waiting typical on the back 9. We only play when we find the deeper discounts...feel the other local Exec or Par 3 courses to be a better choice.
