Played last week early morning walking for $27(sr rate), finishing in a little under 3 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were in good condition, mostly level with good coverage. Fairways were in nice shape, mostly lush with a few bare spots, decent roll out and nice lies. Rough was playing 1-3 inches longer than fairways with some thin and bare spots here and there. Was in one greenside bunker that had a good layer of nice white sand. Greens were in pretty good shape, playing on the soft side, rolling at medium pace with some being a little bumpy on the back side were they haven't completely healed from being punched. As stated two holes are playing with temporary greens making two short par fours even shorter. The 10th hole tee box has been moved up about two hundred yards because of some work being done on the road that runs along the course, turning it into a short par four. Overall decent conditions and still fun to play with even with some of the minor temporary changes.

7:00AM Tee off, hit the first shot 8 minutes early. Almost no one was there. We never waited and finished just under 4hrs. A stunning day, warm and windy, as clear as I can ever remember. Very surprised by how plush this place has become. Is it what it was before the storm? Not yet, however only holes 2 and 8 have new locations of greens, they call them temporary but it does not appear that there is much work being done on where the old greens where for those holes were located. Warning the GPS systems have not been updated quite yet and that did cause one distance mistake on my part. The greens were in very good shape for being punched a few weeks ago, the sand was awesome today. Tee boxes in great shape, fairways overall were good, maybe a couple patches getting some work done.

I could not believe how wide open this course was for a Saturday morning. I will be back, and you should too.

Played on Sunday 6/15 with a mid-morning tee time. POP to play 14 holes was around 4 hours. We had to wait on every hole.

Played on Sunday 6/15 with a mid-morning tee time. POP to play 14 holes was around 4 hours. We had to wait on every hole.

We haven't played here since it was closed in 1/23. They did a great job getting to open 14 holes. Course is in good shape. The old golf shop, clubhouse and restrooms are still closed. They are operating out of a trailer behind the 18th green. Next to it are trailer restrooms similar to what Olivas has. They have riding carts available.

Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Landed in a few bunkers. Was nice to hit out of bunkers with real sand unlike some other courses where it's mostly hard packed sand. Greens were in good shape. Kept on thinking putts would break but it rarely did. The water level in some of the lakes were really low but you can still lose balls here. There are patches here and there on the fairways and around the greens that are bare ground.

The restroom near hole #12 was still closed. There's 2 porta potties next to it.

Nice to have this course back again even it's only 14 holes. Waiting for the rest of the holes to open. Course is flat enough that you can walk. No driving range here. Just a couple areas to hit into a net. Love the cooler weather here and the afternoon breezes.

Stopped off to check out Buena and see how it looks. Pro shop, snack bar and restrooms are all closed. They have a trailer in the upper parking lot for check in, with bathrooms next to it. 14 holes open. $25 to walk, and they do have carts. Putting green is open and they still have some nets to hit into for warming up. Front side you play, 1,4,6,7,and 9. Back nine is the normal route with all holes open. Restroom on course are closed, but the do have a couple of porta-potty next to it. Tees were very lush and level. Fairways for the most were in real good condition with a few spots that need a little more time to fill in. Rough is okay in some areas and pretty bare in others. Bunkers looked to have some nice white sand and in good shape. Greens were in good shape rolling nicely and playing mostly soft. Fairways on 2,3,and 8 looked to be very playable, with greens on 3 and 5 almost ready to be opened up. Greens on 2 and 8 haven't even been started to be repaired. Don't know if they are planning to open 3,and 5 anytime soon, but 2,and 8 are a long ways off. Overall they have done a pretty good job getting this course back into playing conditions.

This will be short and a little late. Got out at BV as a single with another single on Friday 12/10 for the first time in a couple of years and while it wasn't Augusta perfect, it was muni perfect. No issues with teeing grounds, fairways were on the tight side with some rollout but soft, which seems like a contradiction but it was a nice base. Don't recall any brown, bare or burnt spots. Rough was green, pretty consistent and occasionally punitive. Bunkers were OK and mostly without impacting footprints. Short game areas presented the ball well and the greens were very nice — on the quick side, true and pretty clean with a minimum of marks. With the contours frequently presented, they were a very enjoyable challenge.

Pace was good on the front and started to slow and get a little backed up by the middle of the back nine. There was never a threat of losing light late in the round so no stress there. It was comfortably cool although warmer than I expected, and never more than maybe a one club breeze which is pretty mild given how breezy it can be there. The guy I played with was easy going and while I didn't shoot a particularly good score, I had my moments. It was just a really nice day out on a course in above average all around conditions. Definitely recommended.

Played a mid morning weekend round in under 4 1/2 hours. A real pleasure and a nice day on the coast. Course is in very good shape. A little thin in the rough but the fairways and maddening greens were in great condition. Very friendly staff. My only complaint is that this course and its sister course up the street are not closer so I could play them more frequently.

Walked the Blacks yesterday 7/19/21 with buddies Pedro, Mack and his buddy Ricki teeing off at 2:50pm on a beautiful day around mid to high 70s temp with a one club breeze. Pop 4 hrs 25 minutes with a lot of play today. Very friendly staff here. Putting and chipping green with just nets to hit into to warm up. Had not played here in a year and a half and the Conditions are terrific. Greens were healthy with a pure roll. Soft on approaches. Some newer ball marks that we fixed. Rated 7.5 Fairways cut tight with ample lush padding. Looked and played well. Rated 8/10 Tees level and in good shape. They were watering a couple tee boxes as we were hitting to keep them moist. Rated 8/10 Was in greenside bunkers on 8, 10 and 11 that had nice soft sand. Rakes provided. Rated 8/10. Rough was lush, semi thick and in nice shape. Can be grabby. Rated 8/10 Front nine ton of birdie opportunities. Back nine they added 2 new black tee boxes on 12 and 13 and with the length of hole 16 the back provides some challenges. Recommended.

I played here on Saturday 4/10/21 with a 9:50 tee time as part of a Men's Club event. POP was decent, getting around in 4:10. Customer service is somewhat sketchy as they are still completely using Covid restrictions. The grill is only open through a small door and only outdoor seating is available. There was only 1 person working the grill on a fairly busy Saturday afternoon.

Although the course is short, we played from the Blues, at under 5900 yards, it is still somewhat challenging and a nice respite from stepping up and thinking you have to bomb it to score. Sadly the greens were punched almost 3 weeks ago and are very bumpy. For the most part, the fairways were in pretty good shape although there were a few really thin spots. The traps were in good shape and the rakes are back. Tees are flat but were a bit shaggy for my taste.

This was my first time here and I definitely want to go back after the greens have completely healed. I think it would be a fun round with friends. Of course, the ocean breezes come in the afternoon, but it just helps keep the high temps from being unbearable. Easy access from the 101 in Ventura, but were is almost no practice area with the exception of 2 small netted slots beihind the pro shop.

Played 4-6-21 afternoon on a TeeOff deal for $13 walking, joining a twosome and finishing in about 3 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were in decent shape, mostly level with good coverage with a few sanded areas, mostly on par threes. Fairways were mostly in nice shape with tight lies and good roll out and good cushioning for approach shots. They are starting to green up a bit and there are a few thin and bare spots that have been sanded. Rough was in okay condition, not much longer than fairways with some bare spots the farther you got out. Was in a couple of greenside bunkers that had a good layer of nice white sand. They did have rakes in the bunkers but people seem to be afraid to use them. Greens have not healed from being punched a couple of weeks ago, they are still pretty bumpy and on the slow side. I would give them another couple of weeks to fill in and smooth out. Overall decent conditions on a fun short course.
