Aside from patchy tee boxes that haven't been mowed/maintained well, course is in great shape for the hottest months of the summer. Fairway is largely still green, rough is largely not patchy, bunkers good condition, Greens great with minimal divot marks and no bad spots, pace of play is fantastic on the early morning tee times (under 4hrs with no one near us in front or behind), reasonable greens fees with cart included...really one of the better Ventura county experiences.

Still a fun course that can reward or drive you crazy with how you play all the hills. if you keep it in play, lots of generous rolls with drier fairways are available to you, but if you miss right or left on a lot of holes you will be saying goodbye to your ball or have an uneven lie. Greens are sneaky with how they look vs how they do or do not break.

I played here on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We had the 8:40 time. Overall, course conditions are very nice. Everything was well moisturized from the previous days’ light but steady rain. Great customer service upon checking in. My buddy received a refund on the four senior players because there was no option for senior rate when booking online.

We got there early enough to have breakfast. Food is decent and reasonably priced. A better option for me would’ve been to go down to the range, but as it turned out, I never made it. I did have time to hit some putts; the practice green was good and not a lot of people using it.

On course, the overall conditions were pretty good. Great turf coverage from tee to green in all areas of the course. Greens were medium speed and did quicken up as the day progressed. Not too many ball marks to fix and they rolled true. We played the white tees on the front nine but moved back to the blue tees on the back nine. All the tees were level and not too torn up. Bunkers had good sand and appeared very well maintained. The beverage cart made several passes and kept the group hydrated.

For the senior rate of $60 riding I believe I will have to put this course on rotation.

Rode tbe blacks this morning 10/7/24 just after 8am joined by a nice twosome under beautiful morning conditions which turned to hotter conditions the last 4-5 holes. No wind and our POP was 4 hrs not waiting and not holding anyone up. Did not have time to practice before the round but they have a nice practice facility here with mats/grass depending on the day as well as a seperate chipping green right by the putting green. Pro shop very friendly and the cart girl was around several times as the day warmed up.

Had not been here in a couple years. Conditions are above average to good.

Greens are soft on full shots holding pretty nicely and putting around a 10.5 on the stimp. Several huge greens with swales here. Most putts into the grain or uphill were slower than our group played for. Rated 7.5,/10

Fairways were in good shape with tight to thinner padded surfaces all green to the naked eye. Rated 7/10

All tees are being sanded and sodded so all the markers were at back of every tee box almost in the rough. Can't rate the tees today but they looked basically level and should be in great shape when they grow in.

The rough just barely off the fairways is very lush and very thick. Up to 5 inches in some spots. Rated 8/10

Was in one greenside bunker on 7 that looked very wet and thin but had a nice layer of sand underneath to splash out of. Rated 7/10

Not a big fan of tee shot on 3 and tee shot on 8 if you go for the green with your driver but enjoy the rest of the layout here. Some beautiful views, pretty solid conditions and some great shot value here.

Recommended.

Played friday 04/12 so I'll just apologize that this is a little tardy here. Course itself was in great shape. Just in time for them to close down and punch today with no discounted rates.

Fairways were in fantastic shape - maybe some of the best i've seen here in a very long time. All covered with nice green grass, mowed nicely, just finally coming together. Boxes were generally placed on flat ground and well covered. Greens were rolling smooth and true. Rough wasn't too punishing and a few areas were a little thin (10 left of the green specifically), but all in all was a well manicured course.

With that said - the one thing I wish they would pay a little more attention to - the fog. The fog was ridiculous. Could not see where you were hitting on 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 or 9. It wasn't until around 930/10 that it lifted enough to finally have a good view of where to play the ball to. Could definitely be dangerous, so they need to up their GPS game to show where the carts are (I think they tried, but it was showing us ghost carts in areas that there were no carts at all - think middle of the ditch on #6).

Played the back 9 this AM...$38 bucks for 9 holes and breakfast, with a cart.

Course is in pretty dang good shape right now. Might not look like it from the street but outside of the dormant areas of rough, it's in about as good of shape I've seen it in a while.

Played the blacks but looks like they added silvers as well. Not all of the holes had both boxes (blacks and silver) so it could be one their interesting combo sets.

Boxes were all flat, covered and free from a plethora of divots. Wish they'd trim the tree on 18 that hangs over but it ends up forcing a buttercut to stay in the fairway. Probably not a priority since I doubt many people play from the backs here.

Greens were fantastic. Receptive and rolling smooth. Best I've seen them in a long while. Side rant- people need to learn to fix their divots. Just obnoxious to not spend the 12 seconds and make it better for everyone else behind them.

Fairways were spongy and lush. Was very cold and still wet when I got out so there wasn't much run out but still very nice to hit from.

Rough was dormant along the fairways and nice and lush around the greens.

Wasn't in any bunkers so no review here other than they looked full, just needed the standard morning dragging by the grounds crew.

Overall would recommend right now. This has always been one of my favorite tracks and I love the goofiness of the layout cause if you can keep the few bad holes off the card, you can score well here.

Played this AM. Sent out first as my other two did not show. POP 2.5 H. Course has come through the rains in one piece, but still has issues. CPO this morning on 4, 5,6,9,15 and you can see why. Any course that has the fairways below the cart paths will see significant water build up. But they are working on it to get it back into shape. Rough is thick and nasty. Other than the fairways, the tee boxes were fine. Traps were playable. And the greens were fast even with the tiny holes that had been punched. No matter uphill, downhill, side, etc. they were fast. Don't get me wrong, the course is playable and I would put it at 80% but you will have some fairways issues until they totally dry out (# 12 is still wet from 100 yards in to the green). Sr rate has gone up from $48 to 50 but still a good value IMO. Customer service in shop was great. It would be unfair to rate the course at this time.

Rode the blacks this morning 12/20/22 at 11:15am under absolutely perfect weather conditions 65 degrees, sunny skies and no wind. Joined by a elderly threesome 2 brothers and their buddy. We really enjoyed ourselves today. 4 hr 45 minute pace. Friendly staff, all grass driving range, chipping area with a bunker and a very nice putting green here. Played here about 6 weeks ago and conditions are similar with the tee boxes more lush today and a micro small hole tine punch on the greens that did not effect putts to much. Greens were soft, medium speed, evidence of a small tine hole punch. They held shots like darts. Rated 7/10 and once the minor maintenance heals will be in the 8/10 range. Fairways were 50/50 lush vs. thinner. They are reseeding some areas that are roped off in the middle of the fairways. Some fairways were CPO today. Rated 7/10. Tees looked nice and were lush. Some tees were not level but for the most part after some hunting you could find a level spot. Rated 7/10. Was only in one bunker greenside on number 7 that had amazing perfect beach sand that was easy to splash out of. Rated 8.5/10. Rough was lush in most parts surrounding the fairways and in good to decent shape. Rated 7/10. Around the greens more dry spots and some hardpan areas. Was able to put up a good score despite my struggles with hole 3. Probably the toughest tee shot for me in the county! Can never figure out the angle off the tee. Enjoy the tee shots here so much on 8, 9 and 12 where you are elevated and can watch the hang time. Recommended.

Rode the blacks this morning 10/31/22 playing 27 holes in around 5 hrs total. First time touching the sticks in a couple weeks after getting hammered by the flu. Played as a single for the first 16 holes and joined by two nice dudes for the final 11 holes. Thx to Tierra rejada staff for having me out on a jammed Monday morning. Cart barn, starter and grill staff all were friendly and awesome. Had a breakfast burrito this morning that was delicious.

The greens were in good shape considering they punched not to long ago. For a perfect pure roll they probably need a week or so. Holding irons very nicely and for just recently being punched rolled fast. 7/10.

The fairways were in good shape mainly lush, some thin and wet spots here and there and in very playable shape. 7/10

Tees were being resodded so not fair to rate them.

Bunkers looked firm on top but the two I were in had plenty of thick beach sand underneath. 7.5/10

Rough was lush in most spots and mainly grabby and wet and in decent shape.

Overall would give the course a 7/10 rating and well worth playing. Love coming here to challenge myself with some narrow landing areas and some tricky tough holes. Also some birdie holes to take advantage of. Quirky golf on some holes yes but I appreciate and enjoy playing here each and every time.

Recommended.

Rode the combo's today 2/26/2022 with my student Jordan for an 18 hole playing lesson and we were joined by a nice twosome. Pace of play was 5 hrs 15 minutes with a 30 minute frost delay pushing back tee times. Weather was a 10-20 mph wind and around 65 degrees. The wind these last several weeks to a month have made the greens very quick on downhill putts and chips. They are putting very nicely with minimal bumps and are in good shape. Saw the lines great today. We fixed an extra 2-3 ballmarks on every green. Rated 7.5/10. I was not in any bunkers nor was my student but the twosome we were playing with were and they looked to be in very nice shape. The redo on the bunkers looked great. Nice fluffy white beach sand. Tees were mostly level and semi lush. Decent to good shape. Rated 6.5/10. Fairways were 50/50 lush to thin. Low drives would roll forever. Never a terrible lie on the fairways but for sure in spots some thinner turf. Some of the chipping areas in the fairways were thinner. Rated 6/10 Rough was generally a little lusher than the fairways and you could argue on many holes you would rather be hitting out of the rough. Rated 6.5/10 Enjoy the challenge here. Canyon holes and enough penalty areas to keep the best of players honest. It can get windy here so choose your days wisely. Our group had a blast today.
