Played Saturday, 12/15, with a late morning tee time. It had rain for the last 2 days, and the wind had 25 mph gusts. Paid $29 with a DealCaddy prepaid coupon. Customer service was hit or miss. Met in the parking lot for our bags, and the cart was ready to go after checking in with the friendly pro shop. Checked in with the starter, who didn't tell us he had the free range balls. Found a few on the range to warm up. Checked in with the starter again about 10 minutes before our tee time, only for him to tell us we never checked in with him earlier. We both showed our receipts that he marked the 1st time and he did apologize. Cart girl was around 2 or 3 times per 9. Outside grill was closed, but inside bar/grill was available at the turn. They have a large range, but due to maintenance, there were only 8 spots open. There is a chipping and bunker practice area. The practice green was great. Large and matched the speed of the course.

Silverstone is a 27 hole facility that cuts through a residential neighborhood, but the houses are well out of play. We played Valley/Mountain (Desert is the 3rd). Valley starts with a long par 5, but is the shortest of the 9s. Fairways were good on some of the holes, but patchwork mosaic on a few, especially #8. Mountain is longer, and has Nevada's longest Par 5, 653 yds from the tips (and into the prevailing wind) and a long par 4 (with the wind). All the Par 3s have different looks and various lengths (I used 4 different clubs off the 4 tees).

Tee boxes on both were level, lush and mostly free of divots. Outside of a couple of Valley fairways, they were in good shape, with few thin spots and little damage. Rough was 1 to 3 inches, but not very penal. The 1 sand bunker I was in was fine, with fluffy sand and no rocks. Greens were in excellent shape and the best feature of the course. A little soft due to the amount of rain, but they ran fast. Some ball marks, but they most were fixed.

I hadn't played here in over 2 years, and the course is doing better than before. They fixed the bunkers, which were horrible. I will definitely play here again. Rates are typical Vegas for this time of year. $100 tourist rate is steep for me, but $35 resident rate after 11am are a steal.
