This review is a week late but figured this course hasn’t been reviewed in a while and it’s worth an update. I played on 5/11 Thursday, my first time since the course was under water from all the rains. Happy to report that the course is playing like it used to. Fairways were mostly nice to play from, no more standing water, and generally very green. The greens were also in good shape, had been lightly sanded a few days before but otherwise very puttable and nice rolls. The bunkers were pretty poor, some with standing water in them and all pretty thin and/or muddy. But the course is definitely playable and I might play again in a few days.

Played Saturday 18 with an early tee time. I have to say, this is the worst condition I've seen for El Dorado. With the rain and all of the drainage challenges at El Dorado, there was a lot of standing water even though it didn't rain for the last two days. The most aggravating part is the lack of communication at the front desk or when reserving. There was no sign of fairways not being cut AT all and portions of the greens being sanded. Literally you can drive to the center of the fairway and not find your ball because they hadn't cut the fairways. I realize that it is extremely wet and the mowers would destroy the fairways but having a sign at the front desks would help people make an informed decision. Unfortuntely there are still people willing to play so there's no reason for them to improve.

Played here on Sunday 2/19. Teed off at 12:50 as part of a foursome. Second time on this course and the main thing i noticed was how much better it plays once it's had some time to dry out. Decent roll out in the fairways, though one of my playing partners had the unfortunate luck to find his tee shots coming to rest in an unfilled divot multiple times. I had mostly decent lies, however, and didn't notice many truly bad areas. Rough was not penal at all, sand traps were mostly in decent shape, raked for the most part, though some fairway traps were certainly firm. Greens were a highlight, most of them ran fairly fast especially on downhill putts, rolling true.

POP on the front was around 3 hours and we didn't think we'd finish but somehow we started moving briskly after about the 10th hole and finished a few minutes after sunset. Really enjoyed the course, there were certainly some holes where the wind either helped or hurt and made you think about club selection. Especially on a few of the holes where water comes into play. Still a fun time and would recommend even though i still think the green fees are a tad high.

Out to Eldo, one of my go to muni courses, after a nine week layoff. Played on Wednesday teeing off about 6:50 finishing in 4:15. Colder than expected at 37 degrees. So glad I bought a pair of rechargeable hand warmers a few weeks ago to put into my cart mitts.

The course does not drain the best so I wasn't sure what conditions awaited after all the rain in recent weeks. The fairways had good coverage with some wet spots marked with little flags to keep carts and walkers out of the soft spots. Only had to take standing water relief once. Carts were on a 90 degree rule. The rough had good coverage along fairways and greens. The rough was long enough to affect shots but not too penal. Some areas thin/bear mostly in the tree lines. The greens were in good shape. They rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. The tee boxes had decent coverage and were mildly unlevel in spots. The bunkers were a mixed bag. They were all well groomed but the sand was inconsistent. Two bunkers had good fluffy sand while the other two I was in the sand was compact and firm but playable. Always enjoy a round at Eldo and the staff was friendly.

Teed off Thursday morning about 7:40 finishing in 4:05. The greens have fully recovered from aeration. Putts rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairway are a mixed bag. The majority of the fairways have good coverage and good lies. Unfortunately, at this time there are a lot of thin browned out areas. The rough has mostly good coverage with some thin/bare areas. The length is long enough to affect shots put not too penal. The bunkers were nicely groomed with ample sand. The tee boxes were fair to good. Some of the tee boxes had fertilizer spread but they were open for play. The staff was friendly.

Played here for the first time Saturday 10/8 at 1:20 as part of a foursome. They've got a Trackman setup on the range but you need a member key to utilize. There's also a restaurant/bar that's got some good lunch options if you want to get a pre/post round meal. Pace of play was pretty good, seemed we were consistently right behind the group ahead, no big slowdowns but still wound up a 4:45 round. Course was in fair to average condition, but honestly a little disappointed in the condition based on the really good reviews I'd read and when you factor the value proposition ($80 w/ cart) it seems a tad overpriced. A good number of overly watered areas (some sand traps had standing water) and thin spots on fairways. I found myself hitting off more than my share of hardpan lies, but there were also good lies, just not consistent. Greens had been punched a couple of weeks ago and are still recovering. Very bumpy, with lots of pitch marks. I will say that I liked the layout, and there's enough length to make it a challenge. There are some nice holes, I appreciated the water features and I would definitely play again but maybe at a discounted rate. Oh, and for those that like to walk the course there are a good number of holes where the green to tee is a serious trek.

Played in a tournament on Saturday with an 11:30am tee off time. Glad the heat wave broke, a humid day with some little drizzle at the end of the round. The course was a little damp from the rain the day before, and the greens seemed to be most affected. Balls tracking towards the hole just seemed to put on the brakes, as everyone was leaving their putts short. Fairways and rough were in pretty good condition, and while the bunkers were a little more inconsistent they were in fairy good shape as well.

Ended up playing a 5 hr 15 minute round, although things didn't slow down until the 14th hole or so. The group in front of us seemed to be having some bad luck with shots and finding balls, as the group in front of them was a hole ahead. Beverage cart came by four times, and service was very friendly.

Teed off Thursday just short of 7am and finished in 4:05. The greens rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways have mostly good coverage but the summer heat has caused a few more thin spots since I last played here 5 weeks ago. The rough has mostly good coverage and is long enough to affect shots but not too penal. There are some thin/bare spots but its the rough. The bunkers were groomed and had good sand (I was in two greenside bunkers). The tee boxes are fair to good. Always enjoy a round at Eldo. The staff was friendly.

The course is in overall good shape especially considering the heat of late. The greens rolled with medium/fast speed, smooth, and held shots. The fairways mostly had very good coverage with some thin spots scattered about. The rough was mostly good with some thin/bare spots. Length was long enough to affect shots but not too penal. The bunkers were groomed with good sand. I wish people would stop being lazy and rake their footprints. The tee boxes have decent coverage although mildly unlevel in spots. Always enjoy playing Eldo. Not the longest course but a good challenge with some tight driving holes, tall trees lining the fairways, and water coming into play on several holes. Nice practice facilities although the driving range doesn't open on Tuesday mornings until 11am. The staff was friendly.
