For those of you that know me, this is a course very close to work. I can usually sneak out here during the weekday and get at least 9 holes in. Times have been busy and I had the dubious honor of playing this course on the weekend instead. Got out at Twilight as a single. I am sad to say the lack of light really doesn't help this course. The Greens are diseased. They are cut short, they roll fast enough but it's bumpy and there are bare patches everywhere. It's even sadder to see that NO one, and I mean NO ONE fixes their divots. Come on locals... if you guys don't help take care of your own home course, who the devil is going to? Because as I see it the greenskeeper needs loads of help and a truckful of Acts of God to make this place come back from the dead. The only really nice things is that the greens where quick and receptive the rest, bring a 4x4 ball because you will have to figure out a way to navigate through literally hundreds of pits and valleys between you, your ball and the hole. Fairways are OK. Sand in bunkers also OK, tee boxes were flat -- at least they are smart enough to rotate the tee markers b/c that is it's only redeeming quality. Rough is growing thick and almost impossible to find a ball. You only play this course to build confidence in your game but come on, this place has evolved into a dog tract fit for only well.... dogs. Sad to see it turn out this way b/c the bones of this course is really fantastic. With a boat load of care from both the paying public and the greens staff can you honestly expect a comeback but I wouldn't hold your breath. Shame on you management. You lease this course from the county only to turn it into a pig stye. Honestly if you guys don't get a clue and get some work done to fix this problem you really deserve to lose this to a management company like American Golf, at least they know how to invest in their people and their courses and come out with something decent to play on. I mean if Alondra Park can spend the coin on their golf course with the threat of losing their lease the very least you can do is get a clue, do some work on the course to make it presentable. Where is your pride in ownership or at least leasorship (sp?) You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. I would not walk but RUN as far away from this place. It's not worth the time, the money or the aggrevation. I mean where is the challenge if you pay your money and get literally given the finger by the workmanship of the greens staff there? Forget about it. It will literally be a cold day in HELL before I return. Hello Rio Hondo. At least your course is always in tip top condition. You take care of your patrons and honestly isn't that all we are really asking? We pay money we expect at least decent accomodations and course conditions. Rather we are greeted with sad, diseased greens, dying fairways, concrete sand ... it's ridiculous. I ain't NEVER coming back!

Overall this course isn't too bad for the money. With a twilight fee of $15 to walk after 2PM you can't really find a less expensive course that is not executie. Be warned, the greens are in terrible shape. You pretty much putt with your eyes closed and hope for the best as there is no smooth roll anywhere on the greens. Stay out of the sand if you can...it's all hard pan.

The course is in need of some real help . almost all the greens are suffering from fungus spots through the whole green . Lot of ball marks this time out . I repaired 5-6 on every green and dropped hints to the guys ahead of us then ever we were waiting for them to hit. Also witnessed a few plugged balls aroung the green ,from the guys behind us.Very wet at times. Over watering. The fairways have some club damage as well ,but not real bad, although there is quite a few bare spots on some.
The ruff has not been cut for awhile and is really too long. Severe
penalty for being just off the fairway. No medium cut here. Out along the tree line could mean "lost ball".Not sure what the problem is at LosAmigos ,Money, Maintenance crew, or management, but really needs some help right now.

As always I try to have fun out on the course , and will play L.A. again , maybe in a few weeks .

I have not played this course in three months and when I played on 8/17 the greens are in TERRIBLE shape! Either the golf course superintendent is on vacation or they have Carl Spackler taking care of the greens. Fairways, rough, and tee boxes were what you expect of a Muni, however.

Played Saturday morning BACK 9 and I have to say this course has never looked worse. The greens which are usually decent, were BAD, they have become diseased. Something is eating away the grass. The greens are all soft, I'm not one to hit and stop the ball on a dime, but today I did. Made deep ball marks (yes, I did repair them). The 17th green needs to be dug up and redone, it's hard to describe how bad it is. But when old hole locations wont regrow grass, you have a problem. Seems like St. Augustine has taken over the course, which I don't mind, just makes me play my game a little different. Can't say I am complaining, for $19.00 for the back nine, I had a good time, just a little disappointed.

8/2/08 10:40 tee time , started on time . Very warm and muggy day, and very slow play due to a 5 some ahead playing shot gun golf, spraying it all over the place. The course it self was not too bad on the frnt 9, some over watering on some of the fairways , and a few greens ,but the greens were consistent as far as speed , and held the approach shots . i did see one green with a little fungus.the lake on the front is dry (sad to see) due to the liner leaking , and water bill too costly to keep filling the lake. Plans are to repair and refill ,some time in the near future.
The back 9 were much better ,as far as maintaince , and more challanging . Fairways are a little tighter and there is water in play back there .Greens were better as far as firmness an speed .
Driving range was a mud hole on the grass side .Dont know why it was sooo wet . the mat side is like any other range with mats , ok , but i like to hit off grass .
Over all I enjoyed the time on the coures , and will play it again in a few weeks . Nice little city coures .

Walk-on Super Twilight Single $11.50. Not bad for a County Course. Greens a lot better than the last time I played here. They actually rolled fairly quickly. No one was on the course. I played through a two twosomes. And managed to almost finish 18 but was only able to get 15 in before it got dark. Compared to before I am really suprised at how well this course has turned for the better. Only problem some of the greens are overwatered as can be seen from the bumpy and almost muddy front. They need to get a handle on that quickly or risk getting it hacked up. Fairways were lush. Bunkers were a bit thin but playable. Tee boxes were in good shape. They show some decent rotation. Lake is gone along front 9 and last two holes. This course has some good bones. With a bit more care I would come back here more often compared to the long hiatus. I swore I would never come back here. But I am glad I gave them the benifit of the doubt. Not a bad deal. Course is a great confidence builder. Not a long course but long enough and tricky enough to be dangerous. Right now it's on my list to "return." Hat's off to the Greenskeeper.

I played here on 7/11. This has always been a fun course to play on. Lots of doglegs and a few water holes. The coures was in ok shape. Greens were slow but true if that makes sense. For the first time they are letting fivesomes on the course. This makes for slow play. The fairways were good, sand hard. All in all this course is well worth the money even though not in the best shape. Why the fivesomes? Great day except for the 90 year old 5 some that was 2 holes behind. If you are old, suck and are fivesome take a cart. We waited at 50% of the holes.

Nice little course. Worth the green fees. My only complaint is about the sandtraps. Some were like dirt. Other than that, i was satisfied with the course for the price.

Got out as a two-some on 3/13
Tee'd off on the first hole, hit my wedge as a third shot and all I see is splash. Get up to the green and its SAND? are they doing their greens?
Yes, without any notice they are punching ALL of their greens, except on the practice green. No discounted rates or any notice. This is a fun track to play and practice. But it is not in good shape in it's present state. Give it two weeks and it will be in very good shape.
The good thing about this course is the coffee shop. They are not expensive and serve good, hot food, quickly and at a good price.

course is getting better. all the tee boxes are closed off, looks like they are overseeding but it seems like the finally leveled them out. tees are moved all the way up as of 10-23-07. some greens still need some work but i have noticed a vast improvement over 3 weeks. as usual staff is not the nicest around.

The greens are in poor shape... the worst greens I've played 20 years. Beyond very "slow and bumpy"! I thought it's time to punch and sand the greens (it's that time of year) but then someone mentioned that they did this a few weeks ago and he thought the greens were good... for Los Amigos! I know this is an inexpensive course but the greens are so bad that I feel like I've been ripped off. My opinion... go somewhere else, even if it cost more.

OK. Now I get it. Greens in poor. Wait poor is too kind. Greens are in horrendous condition. You want 4x4 off roading go to the OVC between Barstow and Vegas not a bloody golf course. You want fungus eating up a green? I mean really poor playing conditions. I can normally deal with a halfway decent course if their greens were in decent condition. Not the case here. This is an embarassment. I thought the greenskeeper has done fabulous things with regard to moving cart paths and green updates, but this fungus takes the cake. Not only would I never play here again. I am going to permanently remove this course from my favorites list. The greenskeeper should be embarrased. Not worth the time, frustration, effort and patience it takes to play golf if you are going to pay $41 to ride. They should bloody pay me to play.

Very dissapointed in the condition of the course. I just played here a couple of months ago, and was suprised how quickly the place went downhill. For a County course, you don't expect perfection, but the condition of the greens, sand traps and some of the tee boxes were just horrible. ALL the greens had fungus problems, some of them severe. On some of our putts, the balls "4X4"'d over the fungus for a bumpy ride to the hole. The traps had more mud than sand. The only saving grace is the fairways and the ease of getting on. You can always walk on here pretty quickly on a weekend. Also, management for some reason drained the lake. I don't think I'll be back soon since there are much better courses in the area for the same $$$.

Course played SLOW at first but after first 9 we started to move at a pretty good pace. Finished in 4 3/4 hours. Not bad for this busy course. Sand traps were terrible. Only about an inch or two of sand covering hard mud. Fairways were pretty good considering grass is dormant at this time of year. Tee boxes were not always flat but you can deal with it. Greens however rolled pretty true. An enjoyable game.

Played with two good friends on 7/3, a fair and challenging muni course, although once the greens dried out from the dew and watering, they were of good qualityand suprisingly tough. seems like they are trying to improve this course, alot of work going on, and they are emptying at least a couple of the lakes. Shot placement is key to lower scores on this course with so many doglegs. Pin placement was tough, never seemed to be on any level part of the green, even the friends I played with, who play here alot were supprised at how tough they were.

OK OK, for those of you that know me, I play here on a pretty regular basis. I know sometimes they run late with groups that set tee times. But for the single, twosome or threesome looking to get out fast well this is the place I always end up b/c they are very accommodating. Sure its smaller group friendly but that is how I play. Now for the course info. I know Johnny will wonder why I have such glowing reviews for a course that is typically a cow pasture but the greenskeeper here has done some pretty amazing things. Greens are in tip top shape. Not hard considering the time of the year but if you see what he is doing around the greens you will agree that these conditions will continue to only get better. Greens roll true. Some bounciness on back 9 but front 9 greens were amazingly quick for this muni where I typically have to use a full swing to get the ball to move a few feet. In other words, I would rate the greens very smooth, quicker than it looks and very receptive. Just fix your divots b/c everyone else here seems to do their part in maintaining the greens. Fairways a little burned out but I have noticed that even the trouble spots have been marked for maintenance. Tee boxes need a little more work but are relatively flat with a good rotation of the tees. Ponds are drying out for some reason, must be lack of rain or they may be just fixing up the place. Course played amazing fast but for some reason it felt a lot longer than it was. Thumbs up to the staff there. Course may be short but it offers a lot of character and shot selection. Rough is thicker and more prominent. Errant shots are not rewarded since rough is very sticky. Great little mature course with loads of character.

Back to build up my confidence after shattering it at the SCGA with a bad back. Recovered now and wanted to just ease back into the game. Greens are as good as it has ever been. Slow; not as bumpy, BUT a MAJOR improvement from the desolate table tops they used to be. Greens are receptive. Fairways Lush. Bunkers need work -- Cement or hard packed dirt and not sand is what you get for going into a hazard. What needs improvement are the Teeboxes. They are littered. Bumpy, and need some major TLC. They need to rotate those tee positions more daily and flatten them out. Had to really pull back behind the Tee Markers just to find a decent spot. Played fast but a walking 4 some kept up the pressure on a senior 3-some. Go figure.

This may be difficult to believe, but had an 11:30AM tee time on Thursday 5/31/07, got there 1/2 hour early and nobody there? Anyone who plays here expects a couple group wait on #2. We had a foursome and finally caught a twosome on #15. Except for having to wait the last 4 holes, we would have played in about 3 hours, which for this play is terrific. The course was about what I expected, however the greens, while too slow for my taste were actually reasonably smooth. Fairways OK. Never in great condition, but as a last minute course to play, turned out to be a great choice. (Plus it's an ego builder to have a chance to shoot around par) Nice change from the "tough tracks" Fun!

This course improved from the last time I played it four months ago. The last time it was a completely dump. Now its a playable golf course. The fairways are good, and there was some improvement on the greens, although the front nine still looks like it hasn't recovered from aeration. The tee boxes had severe ball damage in some areas, and I had a hard time finding a level area to tee off. Traps were horrible. There was plenty of sand in the traps, the problem was it was completely hard packed. You could wallk in a trap and not leave footprints. Balls that landed in the traps simply bounced and kept going. Amazing. For the green fees, you get what you pay for. I still had a great time, and enjoyed the layout of the back 9.

Hat's off to the current greenskeeper here. He is doing a heck of a job. Considering that around 6 months ago this place was a dog of a course -- All I can say is it's Night and Day here! Heard the old GK was canned and the new one has done wonders here and it shows. Greens just getting back from arefication. If the practice greens are any indicator of the type of greens that would be returning you will be pleasantly suprised to know they will be quick and tricky. Fairways on front 9 are spotless. I mean debris and such aside from the felled trees heck even the leaves are cleared; he is making good use of the community service kids from Juvi (yes you heard me Juvi). Back 9 different story but I suppose the GK will get to that later this month. Sand is OK but hard packed. Tee boxes are still unlevel in most spots are OK but could use improvement. Snack shop was closed. Had to make the 100 ft longer trek to get food at the restaurant. Starters here are always good. They know how to move folks out without getting too crowded. Time to play on a sunday approximately 4 hours. Not bad considering the weather was overcast with strong gusts of wind. Great little course. My personal favorite because of its charm and really nice back 9. Typical course built in the 60's.

Played Thursday 3/29 - was not impressed at all with the course. The first gentelman working in the pro shop was delightful, but when I went back to check in there was another gentlman working. He was horrible. Made me feel as if he was doing me a favor. The front nine played real slow, too many highschools at the time. Back nine sped up quite drastically. I thought the front nine was OK condition, but back nine was much much worse. No where near what I would have expected for the price. No Maint at all. Do not think I will be coming back here again.

Played Saturday 11/26. Had an 8:50 tee time, did not tee off until 9:40. They do not maintain this course very well. Many bare spots, and many areas just soaked like a swamp. It has some interesting holes though, lots of dog legs. 40.00 on a weekend with a cart is a very good deal, but you get what you pay for.

You pretty much get what you pay for here, but you can practically walk on everytime and get done within 4 hrs on the weekdays. Muni style and condition with some fungus that is eating up some of the greens on the front nine. This leaves a few bare spots on the greens that you have to putt through. If you want to just get it out of your system and not think about the conditions too much, than this is a pretty good course. If you're looking for a country club with immaculate conditions, this isn't the place for you...

Played on Sat. the 23rd, got out in about an hour after arriving a 6:30 a.m. the very nice woman in the pro shop was great. The greens were not very good on the front nine, with two temporary greens in play #7 & #8. Seems to me they were over watered and the got fungus and beetle infestation and they just were unputtable in most cases. A bit better on the back nine where I think the greens get more sun. I did like the layout and will go back after they aerate in October.

After visiting 5 courses and getting the run around made my way to my tried and true course -- Los Amigos. Needless to say got out in under 10 minutes. Course in relatively good shape for play. Appearently the new greenskeeper cut the grass on the greens short so no longer does one need to be a gorilla to putt the ball 3 feet. Ball rolls very true and watering has paid off only to work soft in the AM to literally running off in the afternoon as the water dries. Tees in good shape. Looks like they are moving the tees better to maintain grass and look there. Fairways are lush. Play was fast considering we had the slowest foursome in front of us. I suppose it was the occassional "FORE" to get them moving. I swear we waited but they kept going back for balls for some strange reason. Plus we had two relatively new golfers with us so our play was extremely slow for my taste. They got the hint when we started to walk off the green after putting out and hitting off the next tee box. Overall very pleased. Now only time will tell if they will manage to maintain the level of playability here. Truth be told this course is a diamond in the rough. Plays short but like all courses from this year it makes you plan your shots. No more bombing run and more cerebral play is needed here.

Walk on; early AM. At lest this cow pasture is maturing well. Greens in relatively good shape aside from the bumps due to overwatering. I beleive b/c of the summer months they don't want the grass to burn off so excessive watering in early AM. Sprinklers were on at some of the holes. Fairways lush and tee boxes were somewhat level. There were the occasional uneven lies. Bunkers OK just rember to hit though. Overall play was fast considering we were a threesome playing between two foursomes.

I have to say, when this course is good, it's great! Lately, it's been great. The pace is medium during the weekends (5-5.5 hrs), the back nine is pretty challenging (water and extreme dog legs), the greens have been rolling well (somewhat slow, but, faster than usual), and the green fee is pretty inexpensive. The people can be uniendly at timees, but I'm not out there to make friends. If you haven't tried this course, now is the time to do so.

I really like playing here because of the proximity to my office but geez bring your 4x4 ball. Greens are SLOW. Otherwise course in really good shape for this time of year. One can dream though... "I wish the greens were in better shape." Appears they are overwatering to compensate for heat spell. Greens are like putting on shag carpet with all the bumps and dips that come with it.

Boy what a cow pasture. Greens were horrible. Terribly bumpy and slow. I know they just finished their punching the greens and should expect less but hey they should have cut those greens this weekend. Oh well. Rest of the course was in good shape and when they finally get around to cutting the greens they should roll pretty true. I give is perhaps another couple of weeks.

Played today, course in overall good condition. Teeboxes okay, and fairways in decent shape. Maybe because everyone was afraid of forecast of a little rain, almost no one out there. Had a teetime for 2 fivesomes @ 1150 and 1155. Arrived with my buddies @1045 and starter let us out @1105. Did not have to wait at any tee, finished right at 4pm. Only problem was greens bumpy from aerating 2 weeks ago and a bit thick and slow, but hey it was a fast round for a Saturday and as inexpensive as it comes. Great day!

For a municipal course it is descent. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are fair to good. The ruff is bare in spots. The bunkers are more turned up dirt than sand. Although the course is short the greens are challenging. None of the greens are flat and short siding your approach shorts leads to difficult chips. Interesting holes make the course worth a play.

I THOUGHT THE BEST PART OF THE GOLF COURSE WHERE THE GREENS AND TEE BOXES, WHICH I FEEL ARE ABOUT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF ANY GOLF COURSE.
TEE BOXES WHERE LUSH AND LEVEL FOR THE MOST PART. THE GREENS WHERE ALITTLE SLOW, BUT NOT TOO BAD AT ALL. THE ARE KEPT UP NICELY AND PLAYABLE/PUTTABLE. NOT MUCH SLOPE TO THE COURSE SO IT PLAYS VERY VERY EASY. FAIRWAYS ARE OPEN AND FLAT. YOU CAN GET ALOT OF RUN ON YOUR DRIVES, BECUASE THE FAIRWAYS ARE FIRM TO HARD. SAND TRAP SHOULD GET SOME NEW OR BETTER SAND QUALITY, IT SEEMED VERY GRIDDY AND SHALOW.
I PROBABLY WOULD GO BACK FOR ANY RECREATIONAL PLAY, BUT MY GOLF CLUB HAD A TOURNEY HERE TODAY, SO I WAS OBLIGATED TO PLAY. WELL IT WAS THE FIRST TIME AND I WANTED TO SEE THE COURSE?
I WON'T BE BACK UNLESS OUR TOURNAMENT CLUB PLAYS HERE.

Course was in o.k. shape. Lots of bare spots. The sand was very wet and compact even though it has not rained. Had to chip out because it was so hard. The price is reasonable for the course, so will go back and play again. Played in under 5 hours.

The old saying, "you get what you pay for" certainly applies here. This is a fun little track, a little rough around the edges, but when you don't expect perfection, you tend not to be disappointed. I would have preferred the greens to be faster, but otherwise, the course was about what I have come to expect.

The "other" course in Downey (other being Rio Hondo). As far as playing golf it is the bargain. The fairways are okay..for a muni. The greens are extremely slow..but that's the norm for Los Amigos. It's a very easy, open course so it will build confidence when you play. The back 9 has fairways that offer more problem areas and I would consider a tad more difficult. Not a bad muni. course.

Well here I am again playing my tried and true course. The only place that can get a single on quickly and without the pain of waiting -- too long.

The greens are perhaps the best I have seen in quite a while. Ball rolls very true. Well played shots to the green with backspin are rewarded with a very responsive green. Fairway well it's winter in sunny California so it is perhaps better than most. What can you expect with the sun burning everything and the cold nights to boot? Tee Boxes are in rather good shape as well as their proposed longer tee boxes. I suspect they should be opening it up for the summer 2006. Overall fast play.

Played 11/6, started at 1pm and finished 16 holes. Pace of play wasn't too bad for a weekend. The fairways were somewhat dry and gave a lot of roll. They just aerated the greens and they're in the best condition I've seen here. This place is pretty good for a muni.

Played 10/31/2005. Same old green condition (slow slow), with aeration, the greens are lot worse. Just go out and think you are on the range and you would be fine. The pace of play, no body in front and back. I give the course a 5. I only play there because it is cheap supertwilight $13.50 and it is very close to my residence. If they upgrade the greens as Rio Hondo did then maybe it can be upgraded to a 7.

We started out the day @ 5:45 am having a beer for breakfest in the parking lot. 2 and half hours later we teed off. Not a bad wait for no tee time. The course was in good shape. The greens were tooooooo slow..
They have a good deal on beer. What ever your score is, that how much your 1st beer is. Hey 78 cent for a beer isnt bad.
pace was good. bunkers were ok. nice couse if you just wanna have drinking contest with the boys.

Well my tried and true course was packed Saturday. No reason but to say the fact that it was loaded with other golfers. Not good for walk-ons. Play was relatively quick though; finished in 4 hours. Greens were happily growing back from the troucing it had a few weeks back. Very lush, just way to bumpy for my taste but growing back well from all the migrating crow damage. Fairways were nice and green; great grass to hit off. Overall good value for the money for a shorter course. Value factor way exceeds what you would normally expect for a shorter course because of its character. You're given a lot of choices for shots and the grown in trees can be a challenge for any errant shot. Bring your punch shot if you can't direct your first shot into the fairway.

This course is short but has some fun holes. The greens were on the slow side as indicated by prior reviews. There were one or two that had been recently punched. Good course for the price.

I don't know what happened the past few weeks but there is some major damage to these greens. They used to be fantastic. Very firm and medium to fast. Now they just plain suck. I am thinking the crows migrating have something to do with the damage because there are places that are so barren it will take months before the green will grow back. Not bad for the money but certainly could be better if they manage the fix their current crisis.

July 31, 05. Played twighlight today for $27 w/ cart after 3pm. Beautiful day ! JUST finished 18 holes before dark ! Course was a little crowded, in particular the 5-some with one walker and a beginner kid playing ahead of our 4-some. Why they allow this on twighlight, I'll never know ! Everyone should ride on weekends/twighlight, and they should NEVER allow 5-somes ANYWHERE, ANYTIME !!!! OK, on to the course: Some greens were pretty trashy, others real nice. Alot of bumping going on ! Missed some putts due to poor green conditions, and of course, I missed some putts due to poor putting !! I would love to see them put more water hazards on this course ( #9, 240 yd Par 3 could be a great par 4 if they added a water hazard along the left side, forcing a very risky carry to the green, or a lay-up to the right side ! ). Course is short at 5768 from the whites, but is still alot of fun to play. Staff was great. Play it.

Twilight golf: $11 for as much golf you can play before the sun comes down. The course however is a major let down. Always a personal favorite the greens on the course only a month ago were fantastic, suitable muni greens. Fast forward to today all I can say is this course needs some TLC. Back side of hole 2 has some sort of damage from an oil leak that occurred a month ago from one of the lawn mowers. They had to dig it out and replant. Green hasn't accepted the graft. To add to the problem on hole 2 the back side is caving in from some other mishap. Greens were overall EXTREMELY bumpy. Major break 1 foot to 6 inches into hole. Balls were literally skipping, not rolling true and certainly not running fast as would be expected from a hot day as today was. Fairway on hole 8, the short part 5 was flooded for the first 150 yards after the tee box. Play was extremely slow but that was due to the golfers and not the golf. Personal note to self: Wait around a month and then see if what they have done will improve but if I were asked if the course was playable now I would shrug and shake my head in disgust. Not worth the misery of watching a suitably hit put make a sudden turn 3 inches into the hole at any price.

Good little course. Not too many tricks but a personal favorite. Course a little on the forgiving side for errant shots but several Par 5 are reachable in two. How do I know? No 14. Missed my put for eagle by only 3 inches! :( Fun course. Easy to get on with friendly staff. Great value for the dollar!

Nice day for golf. Warm and overcast. Greens in OK shape; bumpy at times from thatch. Decent and readable puts were possible however with firm stroke. Fairways as lush as I have seen it at its best. Rough was however very sticky as I think greenskeeper allowing rough to grow out. Water line has receded somewhat and some construction on hole 13 takes out farthest portion of dogleg. Hole 11 has some unplayable area from what looked like a pipe burst. Overall had good time. It's a personal favorite with a lot of character so why would I bad mouth one of my personal favorites? Good course overall and a sleeper in the value department.

Greens have healed from aeration, but very slow and bumpy. Need a good role and cut! This course needs some love!!!! It was kinda ratty out there today. Middle of the fairway should not be like the ruff, cut grass correctly. Played with a family, mom, dad and little daughter, she had the best swing of all of us! I did treat her to an eagle on a par 5, first one she has seen I bet! Give the greens some more time, i"m sure they will be fine for summer.

best value in mid cities. short course with lots of character. Greens very bumpy from airation few weeks back. Expect in about month greens to be in tip top shape if greenskeeper doesn't get too overzealous. Fairways are clean with some bare spots. Water levels have receeded and rough reaches water's edge now. Greens not too tricky but bumpiness does come into factor for longer puts. Traffic jams at hole 2 and hole 4. Speed of play for short course was not as expected, but what can you expect from a public course?

A friend (beginner) made reservations. Wanted to check out the course for a future junior tournament. Ever play a course with 18 temporary greens? Greenskeeper just cut a hole in the fairway and drew a circle around the flag. Either close down the course or offer significant discounts. Waste of time and money

Comment: Let the grass grow so you can determine the difference between fairways and rough. Also some re-seeding needs to happen throughout the course. Lake drainage needs to be addressed (nile virus) with recycling fountains. The live animals give a beautiful sense of freedom.
The greens are in great condition.

Fun course. Not too long, but you'll need to bring your fade, draw and your straight shot if you want to score low. Water hazards can punish a major Banana-Baller, or Chili-Dipper. Fairways are mostly wide enough for some error, but try not to hook or slice it. Greens are a little slow, but a decent size. I've played here alot, and will continue to do so. Good Hot Dogs ! P.S., Leave the big birds alone near the 17th tee ! The males will chase you down if they feel threatened ! They don't like hackers messin' around near their women !!

Walked on as a foursome right to the teebox. Fairways the usual winter condition. Greens were in very good shape although they played a little slow. It appears as if they are creating new tee boxes on a few holes adding a few more yards to the layout

The course was in very nice condition. The greens were fine, except that they were so ..... slow!!. Plenlty of grass on the fairways, and rough is decent shape. Actually the course was in the best shape I can remember seeing it in. If only the greens had some speed, it would have been much more enjoyable.

The greens were BADLY beaten up with many bare spots and badly damaged w/ball marks etc... Our balls rolled and bounced quite a bit on most of the greens so we simply played them as 2 putt greens. The condition of the greens is so bad that I'd stay away from this course til they figure out how to get them back in shape. Even the marshall told us on the first hole to "fix an extra ball mark on each green" but even that wouldn't make a difference. Hopefully they figure out the greens because I like the layout of the course. The fairways are very forgiving due to their width so you won't lose any balls and they are rather plush and the ball sits up well. We finished in just over 4 hrs too - teeing off at 8am on Sunday 9/19.

Played on Sunday afternoon and have only one complaint, "Where are the marshalls?" We tee'd off as a two-some and the group ahead of us had two guys teaching their wives how to golf and they would not let us play through because "we paid for this tee time and you paid for yours". We did not see a marshall and when we went into the office at the turn, they said they would send one out to us, we never saw him. Other than a 5.5 hour round, it wasa great day and the course was in good shape.

Played 7/31with my sons, started at 3:00 finished a few minutes after 7:00, would have been even quicker, but caught up to a group in front of us at 10, but no real complaint. Fairways and greens in very good shape, very lush, greens pretty smooth, a little slow, but held very well. Only complaint was the tee boxes, very thin, and many had uneven lies. I always forget about this course, and should remember to play more often. Many interesting holes, with a killer 240 yd par 3 at number nine. Great day.

The 3 of us walked on right to the first tee box. With the exception of the tee boxes, above average conditions all around. Front 9 is fairly wide open with fair amount of baleout if your don't shape your tee shots to the doglegs. The back 9 will challenge your tee shot and club selection with doglegs right and left. Narrrow fairways and water will come into play. Great course for a group of juniors. Not very long and very walkable. My son play this Saturday for $9

Course was a lot of fun to play.If you can hit it relatively straight, you are set.Fairways were a bit on the thin side, but your ball would roll a long way.Greens were great, super soft and very puttable. The sand traps I saw my playing partners in looked like sand(soft) not hard dirt. Not too much trouble unless you hook your tee shots on a few holes. Fun course worth the green fees .

This is the golf course that could. I don't know what it is about this little course, but I keep coming back to it? This is one of the only courses in LA that has no sand on their greens. The greens were worked on a few weeks ago, and they need a little more time for sure. I wish courses like rancho park, montebello, alandra would take some pointers from the staff at los amigos!!!!! The pro shop staff deserves some acclaim, great service! The course needs some work, but its playable and fun. Thanks for the 4 hours of enjoyment, better than dodgers opening day!!!

a lot of people complain about this courses conditions, I still don't see the big problem here. It's a muni owned by the city for Gods sake, what do you expect. The greens are in good condition and the fairways are not what they could be, but not bad. The most inportant thing about this course is that it is fun and the people that I always get hooked up with are very friendly and overall good people. Now nobody can complain about that. The second hole ususally backs up, but after that it opens up. If you can not let the wait on the second hole get to you than you willhave an enjoyable day.

It was a hot day out in Downey, mid 90's at Los Amigos. This is a short course for me, very few drivers will be hit out here. I work on hitting fairways and greens, keeping it in play. I pulled in around 10 am with out a time and got right out with a very cool threesome! I had a great day with these fellows, $21 to play never hurts either! The front side I see to have figured out shooting 1 over with many birdie puts missed? The back has some holes were a 5 iron needs to be hit about 200 yards not to reach the trouble ie trees, traps or some H2O. OOOh well some day i will figure the whole 18 out. I hope to see those guys out again, they made a great day for me . Go out and enjoy Los Amigos like i have and will for some time. thanks todd

A good course for the price. Not too short, but not long. Greens are a mix of sloping and flat, and the bunkering keeps you honest on approach shots. The mixture of grasses in the rough makes it interesting. The short bermuda plays more difficult than the longer rough. The trees can be penal as well. Watch out for the hot dogs.

Fairways in good shape; greens still recuperating from recent aeration. Tees were also in less than good condition due to being aerated. I will give this course at least 3 to 4 weeks before visiting again.
