Played Malibu Golf Club Monday with GK’ers longball23, rgm2525 and Enrique_Benitiz91. I felt the conditions were lush, especially considering how dry it’s been in the Santa Monica Mountains. The kikuya grass has not woke up yet and the lushness is mostly bermuda but come July, expect the kikuya grass to up and full. I was very pleased with the conditions at Malibu GC. The greens although a little bumpy at times had med/fast consistent pace to them and held shots. The fairways were lush providing great lies. The rough was a mixed bag of lush and thin lies, the tee boxes were lush but as longball23 mentioned they still need to address leveling the boxes of 7 and 15. Regarding the bunkers, I was not in any but from what I observed they were all well raked. Personally, the biggest reason I play Malibu Golf Club is not because of conditions but because of the layout. It’s one of kind. Secluded in the canyon with beautiful native surroundings. Take a minute on the second tee box to just look around your next time out there. The layout is also extremely challenging, tight and demands creative shot making. Love this course and will be back many times.
