As usual we were paired with a great twosome (larry & Charles) and had a great day of golf. The course was in great shape compared to a month ago when the greens were under repair. The greens were smooth and fast and Fun! Everyone I encountered was enjoying themselves, which usally happens on a great course on a great day. The normal wind that picks up on the back nine was not there on Sunday. It made the entire round of golf just fantastic...

This is a great course. First time out. I enjoyed the course aesthetics with the desert-like areas in between the holes. If you happened to land in the 'desert' areas, it was not fun hitting out of it. The ground was hard and the pebbles really do a number on your clubs!
The tee boxes were great, the fairways were great, the rough was tall, and the bunkers were very good. Only a few spots where the sprinklers must have been on too long and the ground was mushy.
There are not many high trees to get in your way, so off-line tee shots were not dead, even though the rough was tough at times. The range is grass, and not all chopped up. A pleasure to hit off of. The only thing about the range is that the targets were way below the hitting area, where on the course there were more elevated approaches.
Well worth the fees, a highly recommended course to play. Nice restaurant in the clubhouse. The practice green was nice also and was a true pace out on the course. Greens rolled pretty fast and true. Not a bad walking course, good workout. About 4 1/2 hours for us 4 walking and a few ball hunting holes.

This golf course is a fun golf course. The lay out is something similar to Las Vegas's Rhodes Ranch as they are with the same designer. The feel of it is the same good feeling that doesn't really beat you up that much, though it isn't that easy eaither. (check slope/rating/yards) But maybe this course is a little more forgiving. Rancho Vista shaved grass on the hills in between fairways to conserve water. I thought that was a good thing.

...but they've also added or enhanced the pot bunkers with tall rough, making it tough to make a good out. (Ugh!) I'll make a point not to get in it next time.

The course level of its quality condition is as high as being great at this time even though a few of the greens were lightly punched with tiny holes but healing (no big deal- doesn't affect much play) and for the most part, it rolled true on the faster side. The fairways are very good and the all around condition of this course has completely turned around for better.

You know what's coming... I hope it continues to be good.

Come play Rancho Vista... Very enjoyable course.

First time playing this course and I was very impressed. For $30 walking, the playing conditions were fantastic. Tee boxes were as good as I've seen anywhere. Greens were very smooth, though some of them had slight discoloration. Fairways were good... rough definitely penalized you, especially if you hit into one of the grass bunkers. The wind picked up mid-way through the round which made the course a little tougher. All around very enjoyable round including lunch afterward with fellow GKers noeldaof, kviser, and thingstodo.

I'll definitely be back.

Since begining to play this course just about 1 year ago, I can only say that I truly enjoy myself each and every time I play. It is as though you are no longer in the middle of a Quartz Hills/Palmdale housing track. The course is always well kept and even when they airate the greens the course is fun to play and challenging. The staff is always very friendly and helpful when it comes to getting a tee time. I reccomend this course to both casual and serious golfers. Fairways are forgiving and this makes this course alot of Fun....

This used to be one of my favorite courses. It used to be the best value around with the best conditions within an hours drive. Well all of that has changed. They still boast on their (photocopied) score cards that they were named "best value" in LA by Greenskeeper. They shouldn't get to use that anymore, they have let the course go and shouldn't reap the rewards of years past. Its really a shame, I won't be back.

This is a wonderful course and great value at the senior rate of $26 including cart. There are many sidehill lies, huge waste areas and water hazards to clear from the tee boxes, very challenging. Many greens had been recently punched and sanded and there were two temporary greens on #4 and 7. It was windy during our game, but we enjoyed it anyway.

Played on 4/13/08. The fairways are in pretty good condition. Nice and lush. Well kept in general.
Greens are a completely different story. Most of the front nine are in terrible condition. Temporary green on 4th is a joke. Just a hole on the middle of the fairway. Back nine are a little better. Still sub-average.
Overall an OK experience, I guess I would play it again only at a twilight rate until the greens are fixed. Which may time a long time.

A waste of a good dairy farm. This course is a disgrace...Poor teeing areas, fairways are spotty and the greens are terrible. The staff acts like they are doing you a favor. The food is mediocre and very expensive and the 9oz. beers for $5 are a joke. The pratice facilty is a joke...

Played on Saturday 4-5-2008 and was very disappointed by the current conditon of course. The greens had been plugged recently and were very rough. After practice putting we asked the people in the clubhouse if the course greens were as bad and they said they were worse. I've played many courses after plugging and the greens are playable these were not. Large clumps of grass and very little sand to smooth them out. Short putts were an adventure. The fairways had not been mowed in several days so fairway shots were like hitting out of short rough. The current project of removing grass between fairways to give the course a desert look is a great idea to help conserve water. Course layout is fun without being too tough but with the current condtions if you have to drive very far to play here I'd wait a while.

The greens are not what it used to be. Bumpy!! There are major work on shaving hills between fairways... looks like almost done in fron nine... no work on back nine yet. Still an OK little course, but they should pay attention to greens maintenance as it can ruin the fun... if... you like to putt.

They have a lot of construction happening on the course. It will look great when finished. Similar look to Arizona golf when done. Still the wind kicks up violentley and the course marshal needs to realize that a 3 some in carts will obviously be faster then a 4 some walking. What was he thinking telling us we were falling behind a 3some in carts, duh. Greens need a lot of work. Never seen it this bad before, like if the grounds crew put they wrong seed on them. Very patchy with 2 different seeds, hard to find ball marker.

Course is usually in very good shape, the staff will often allow groups off the back nine, just as you are making the turn. This is very frustrating. Marshals seldom enforce violaters of slow play. But the course has character with lots of elevated greens and good greenskeeper staff.

Greens are bumpy. Some of the Greens have large patches from severe damage. Speed is medium to slow. Greens look better than they play.

Fairways are OK, but there are a few areas that are muddy, swampy-- over watered.

Roughs are cut short, one inch. You cannot lose a ball in it.

Sand traps are hard not much sand.

Teeing grounds are fair to good and lush.

I only get to play this course a few times a year so the changes stands out if any. Rates were $42 to ride, now $52. There are new trees planted by the teeing ground and when they grow fully, they will be in the way.

The course is not hard at all. We always do good and have fun on this course as we did last Saturday.

We hope this course don't deteriorate.

We thought that we'd give RV another shot. My last review reflected some conditions I had not previously seen here-- bare spots on greens, mainly. It looked like there was a fungus attack coupled with drying winds. That was several weeks ago and there has been only marginal recovery to date. The large repair area on #2 green has not heeled in. A few of the greens had dry / barren areas. Not the end of the world, but could be better. Putts were not affected as much as you would think. A simple yet low tech solution: send out the syringe crew. A few guys with hoses to hit the hot spots on the greens as needed, during the day. Control the water, control the fungus.

When they aerified greens this year they lost too much bent. Usually, the greens are running 8/9 and dense. Palmdale is proud of Rancho Vista and Greg Anderson for bringing it to us.

Looks like there's trouble in paradise here at Rancho Vista. Before I hammer the course, I will say it wasn't as bad as I am going to make ti out to be. There was lots of discolored grass in the fairways and rough. The #2 green had a rather large repair area, approximately 10' X 10' right in the middle of the green. Many greens had barren areas; could be they had a fungal attack followed by drying winds. Also, there was lots of poa annua on nearly every green that made for a pretty shoddy appearance. If the poa were more evenly distributed and incorporated into the bentgrass, it would at least look better. Putting was not affected as much as you would think. Wind was more of a factor than the poa. Many areas of turf, including some tee boxes, were saturated. Some areas needed water, including parts of some greens. I hate to say it, but I have never seen conditions here this bad. I trust the course will get things back on track soon.

Good iron players can stop the ball on the greens. The rough is fairly short and fairways are in very good shape. High handicappers will have trouble with the hard greens and wind.

Played 04/07/07, 11 am. Course in good shape, few, if any, bare spots. Weather warming up, still windy ( 20-30 mph ). Greens have spots of poa annua, probably due to ball marks, making some putts a little bumpy. Fairways and rough growing nicely. Most people using the divot mix provided in the carts. Sand traps could use more sand, but overall not bad what is there. Used "click4teetimes.com" ,as did the group behind us, to save about $10 ($42 incl. cart).

PLAYED THERE MARCH 31, THE FAIRWAYS WERE NICE THEY KEEP THEM IN GOOD CONDITION, MY PROBLEM WAS WITH THE GREENS, CAN YOU PUT SOME WATE ON THE GREEN THEY, THEY WERE SO HARD AND DRY IT WAS LIKE PUTTING ON A MINATURE GOLF COURSE. THE OTHER PROBLE WE HAD WAS A FIVESOME IN FRONT OF US , THEY HAD TO WAIT FOR EVERY GREEN TO CLEAR BEFORE THEY WOULD HIT A TEE SHOT , THEN NO ONE IN THEIR GROUP WOULD NEITHER HIT THE BALL STRAIGHT NOR OVER 150 YARDS, THEN THEY HAD TO GO SPEND TIME TRYING TO FIND THERE SHOTS. ALSO THEY HAD A CHILD WITH THEM WHO THEY LEY PLAY ALMOST EVERY SHOT. THEY WOULDNT LET US PASS AT THE TURN AND THE MARSHALL WAS MORE INTERESTED IN THE DRINK CART GIRL. A ROUND THAT SHOULD HAVE TAKEN 3 AND A HALF HOURS TOOK A LITTLE OVER 5, IT IS A SHAME THAT PEOPLE THAT DONT KNOW GOLF ETTIQUTTE CAN BE SO IGNORANT AND RUIN THE GAME

Played last Sunday, February 25. Shotgun start possibly due to cold weather. Very windy conditions, about 25 miles per hour, possibly contributing to firm greens, and most likely contributing to long downwind shots. Par 3 holes 4 and 11 tee boxes under some sort of re-seeding effort. Nice grass everywhere: rough and fairways were a mixture of green and straw that held up your ball nicely.

Golfed today at Rancho Vista in Palmdale. The first thing I noticed was a sign on the proshop door-aerification is scheduled for 08/28 through 08/31, greens, fairways and tee boxes. That aside, the course was in pretty good shape. Looks like the bunkers have new sand, greens were fairly fast, rolled true and had only a few ball marks. Fairways and rough were lush and cut appropriately with a somewhat punishing 3" rough.

It took us 45 mins. to reach here and it's worth it. What a beautiful and
very challenging course; very few flat areas and the wind was STRONG
in the afternoon (after 3:00 p.m.). It was either of both; you hit further
or you hit shorter. Finished 18 in a little over 3 hours (2 persons). This course is a MUST for every golfers.

Played on 7/28. Got in 51 holes. We almost had the place to ourselves. The course was in great shape - especially the greens. When I commented to the starter about it, he told me that the marshalls actually fix ball marks on their travels throughout the day. What a great idea! It would be great if ALL courses did this.

I'll be back soon!

The course is very green. It is obvious that they are putting a lot of water on the course. There are a few places that are a little too wet and some bunkers have damp areas but this area of L.A. Co. is very hot and dry so the course does need a lot of water to stay green. Played at 2pm, walked and only paid $21

Played Rancho Vista today. It was very windy, between 20 and 30 mph.. They had pluged and sanded the greens less than a week ago. The greens were slow due to the sanding. They also plugged the fairways and were playing winter rules due to the plugs on the fairways. Over all the course is in pretty good shape. Just a fun place to play and the rates are reasonable. I would recommend the course to anyone.

It was on the cool and windy side when we played Rancho Vista, the day after Christmas. It was packed when we got there and the range were full of guys trying their new drivers. We had 2 foursomes for 8:06 & 8:14. Nevertheless, the greens rolled true, fast and smooth. Fairways were cut smooth (you could almost putt on it-but of course we didn't), and rolled good, rough was down, but don't get used to it. The group in front and back moved well on time, finished 18 within 4 hours. It's Ted Robinson design, about a 126 slope rating, not bad for a Sunday golf. $41 a player on a weekend. Ssssuuuwwweeeeeeeettt!

It's amazing how much fun a golfer could have here. Greens are true and fast. ...well, just like every daily fee course, you fix more divots than you made. But once you're done, it's all good. If the winds are not around (like when? ha-ha) the course rating will be off. It's worth a visit.

The lake at hole # 8 is undergoing some major renovation. The hole now plays from temporary tee something like 148 yds par 3. Because cart traffic is moved to the right side of approach, the #2 tees are moved all the way forward to the juniors. A good tee shot should get you a chance at this par 5 in two. It will be interesting to see the results of all this work.

The rough has been allowed to grow making it more penal. It gives the fairways the appearance of being more narrow. The greens are still very fast and seem to be a little softer than in the past. The course is kept in very good condition.

Course is WIDE OPEN on most holes, OB is usually not in play no matter how bad the shot. Ball tends to sit down in rough, which can be pretty thick. Overall plays easier than the rating and scorecard would indicate unless the wind is really howling.

Very nice greens, smooth & true. Many more elevation changes than I expected from being in Palmdale. Well maintained, friendly staff, good layout. Well worth the green fee. An hours drive from the valley. Good change of pace. The only downside is the place is surrounded by houses. Other than that it's worth the drive.

It is wide open and can accept errant tee shots, but to score well, you need to keep it in the short stuff because the rough is NASTY. The greens are almost of Robinson Ranch quality and the fairways and rough are lush. $40 gets you 18 and a cart on a Friday and $13 more gets you a replay. Great way to spend $53.

This is an easygoing course thats forgiving of errant shots; no trees. Lots of new home construction surrounding the entire layout. The fairways are are lush as well as the rough. The greens are very well kept and the ball rolls as if on a table top. The $40 weekday rate that includes a cart is well worth it. I just wish it were closer to home (150 miles round trip).

For $25 green fee on Saturday afternoon, it's worth every dollar. Greens are fast & fairway are lush. Even with the afternoon wind, it's still playable for somebody who is not used playing the upper desert wind. My only complaint is the rough. You will lose your ball if you don't keep an eye on where it exactly stopped. Lost a ball that landed in the fairway but probably ended up in the rough.

Course is still in great condition for it being July in the Antelope Valley. I wish it had been mowed though. I'm all for dificult courses but anything off the fairway results in a very CHUNKY lie. The course is greener than a shamrock and the staff is always tops.

Greens were very fast. Fairways weren't. Tons of wind so be sure to club up, or hit lots of stingers.

Bunkers were in good condition and fellow golfers were very polite. I'll be back again next week.

Played in the afternoon for $32. Best value around! Greens rolled well yet were able to hold my long irons well. Two club wind all round. Take advantage of holes with the wind. Huge birdie and eagle opportunities! Good course to score well at!

Went off at 7:30 on Sun 5/16. The winds were calm and it was a perfect day for golf. Course is in great shape. IMHO, this course is one of the best deals around, $47 riding on the weekend. You get lush fairways, smooth, firm and fairly fast greens, and a punishing rough. The only potential negative is that the winds can blow pretty hard here, but not yesterday. The course looks deceptively easy and appears to be wide open. However, the rough is thick and tall and good luck getting a good shot out of that stuff. It is hard to loose a ball, but when you do go just off the short grass, you will spend some time walking very slowly and looking straight down where you thought your ball landed. Although the young trees do not present much of a problem, the rough more than makes up for it. A good course for golfers of all abilities. We will be back

The course was in good shape. It did not seem very challenging except 17. It was just kind of there. Nothing really stood out.

what a golf course!! A one hour drive from Northridge seemed like 15 min. I played 36 holes today for 41 dollars, walking and took only 5 hours. That is how open the course was. As for the course conditions, it is in great shape. Fairways were lush, the rough was cushy, the tee boxes were level, greens rolled fast and rather true and the bunkers were decent. The course layout was ok. Some holes looked alike and there were not many holes with doglegs. The houses and construction along the holes can be a little distracting. This course reminds me of Sierra Lakes and Empire Lakes because of their playability and ambience. With nine water hazards in play on certain holes, and the rough being long, bring some extra balls because you might lose some. All in all a great course to play and at 28 dollars, it is worth every dollar.

I was very impressed with the course quality for the low $46 green fee w/cart. No different from Empire lakes, same drive less $$. IT was worth the drive. Lush with quick greens.

Great course. Greens were fast and in great condition. Fairways and tee boxes were lush and in great shape also. But, this place gets windy and you must learn to keep the ball low when the winds pick up !

WOW! This is a tough course when those winds get howling, and the greens firm up. Course itself is in very good condition. Lush fairways, lush thick rough, and greens that wouldn't hold any greenside chips. Fastest greens I've ever played.

Overall a great deal! $60 gets you 2 rounds on the weekends. The scenery is a little lacking. In fact, its downright ugly, but if you are looking for a decent course check it out. Its less than an hour from the Sepulveda pass, burbank etc.

Play is wide open in the afternoon. Best time to play is in the morning because of desert winds in the afternoon. Greens hard because the wind will dry them out.

Played 36 holes with 1 hour lunch break, and still finished by 5:30 PM.

Course was in excellent shape when I played on 3/6. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all excellent. A new course with elevation changes, hidden water hazards,
elevated tees & greens. Country club feeling
and a wonderful layout. I'll be back !

A nice, new course. Few trees in the fairways. Fairly open, with many elevation changes and some water in play. Nice, fast, consistent greens. Tee boxes in excellent shape.
