Played in my first Greenskeeper outing...had a great time! The clubhouse and staff were great. Course in great condition overall. Some greens damage due to ball marks. The course was challenging but fair. Course knowlede needed on several holes. I would love to play there again with that in mind.

Course knowlege is key here. Played in the BigDog tournament. Thanks to BD and his buddge for getting us here and playing! Wonderful facilities. Great service. Tee boxes to fairways to the sand were spectacular. Only problems I had were the slow greens. Not what I was expecting. According to the starter it ran an 8 on the Stimp. didn't believe him until we putted our first green. He wasn't exagerating. The other item I found frustrating on the site is course knowlege is KEY here. You have to know where to place the ball b/c of some blind shots. Fun course just kept asking myself where the windmill or the giggling clown was b/c some of the course features felt kinda gimicky. Greens were easy to read. Just felt I could have shaved easily 5-6 strokes just with course knowledge. For a newbie to the course it could go a long way to managing the course and your strokes.

Aside from that... course was in great shape. Amazing for Valencia in the middle of a heat with a nice easy wind blowing. Course plays tight and placement is key as is course knowledge but I will see how I shall fair next time I get there.

Played TPC Valencia yesterday in the Greenskeeper.org "casual event" put on by The Big Dog. The tourney was run so very well, I can't tell you how worthwhile these events are. Great people (Thanks Kevin, Jim and Bernie for a great afternoon of golf!!), a chance to play a great course that is usually private for an outrageous price! You can't ask for anything better!

As for the course, this was my first time at TPC-V. Course-knowedge is a big factor here if you want to score well. I would do things a bit differently next time out, as I did not play particularly well...but that's not the course's fault.

It's not my favorite type of layout. A little "target-y" for my tastes. Although the fairways are by-and-large fairly wide and generous, the flat-lie/optimum hitting areas are few-and-far-between.

When I was on the fairway, I found than to be lush and quite nice. The rough is not too thick, but still not where you'd want to be.

The greens look nice, a few areas are turning brown, but that's a matter of aesthetics and really did not effect play. For as nice as they were (held most shots well) - - they were much slower than I would have imagined they's be. Yes, the tip given to us by the starter is true, for the most part, "all putts break toward the freeway"....but on the front-side, I must have left 8-9 putts short. Uphill, against the grain was like putting through glue. A little disappointing, as this was not what I was expecting from country-club greens.

Impressive note: The G.M. himself was out watering the greens!! Outstanding!!

The cool-towel delivery was a nice bonus....

Saw the cart-girl four times (2x on the front-side, 2x on the back).

The staff and everybody at TPC-V were very nice and the whole atmosphere was just amazing.

Would I like a steady-diet of nothing but courses like TPC-V? Probably not. But it was a wonderful day! Thanks to CalFootDoc and TheBigDog for putting this one together! A++

The course is challenging but very enjoyable for beginers or seasoned golfers. I've played the course for the past 2 years and it is in the best condition since I started playing there.

Greens still not holding. They are soft with sandy base under grass but could not get a ProV1 or Callaway 56 tour to spin and hold. Especially the 9 th hole.

I drove my daughter and some other kids around this course during a golf camp and was happy that they were the ones playing. The front nine was playable however the back nine was maybe the poorest example of "challenging layout" I've seen in some time. I would not play this course if they let me on for free! To think that people actually moved to this place from Valencia CC just boggles the mind. Obviously, you don't always get what you pay for.

This is the first time I've played this course and after reading the reviews, really was not expecting anything fabulous. Well I was underwhelmed by the course! It was in very nice condition, the staff was excellent, but the course is nothing special! In fact I thought the rating of 73.6 slope 133 from the player tees was absurd. If you wanted to lower your index, this would be the course to do it on! Holes 9, 10, & 14 are tough, but otherside this course is just not that hard. It's 120 mile drive for me, so the next time I want to use up all my gas, I'll go back to Robinson Ranch for a fraction of the cost!

Very Nice Course. Be prepared to work your way around the course. The fairways are the best oppurtunity for all of your blind shots. There are holes that you can take advantage of cutting corners and playing agressive but, be careful because they will punish you if you donot make the shot.
The greens are nice, some greens will hold your shot, and some will run. My experince is the greens around the water areas are a little faster and run alot.
Love this course. I will playing it again next week.

Nice Course! Some tough holes with blind shots, carries, and undulating fairways. Greens are quite firm and do not hold approach shots - land everything short and let the ball run to the hole.
One of the better practice facilities around the area. Staff is kind and courteous as well.

- Played yesterday for the first time in just over a year. The course is far from the "Immaculate" rating it currently has. Much of the grass on the 10th tee is dead, and the fairways are also not great. There are many brown areas in the fairways as well as some areas where grass is growing back so it is clumped and hard, often resulting in a poor lie in the fairway. They should rule them ground under repair IMHO. The greens roll very nicely, although some inconsiderate golfers refuse to fix ball marks so there are many of them on the green. The changes to #15 made it a much better hole than the last time we played last summer. The biggest issue for us yesterday was that a company outing went off as a shotgun on the back, and since a PGA player was also there, they started us off the back. I assume this was to accomodate the Pro. Needless to say, we caught the tournament on what was our 3rd hole and we waited on every shot for the remainder of the round. For $110 on a weekday, I expect to not wait behind a tournament. On a positive note, the practice facilities are the best in SoCal and the people could not have been nicer. One word of advice for those of you who plan golf outings for your company: If you have a llot people who have never golfed before, or are extremely poor golfers, please book a municipal course, not a difficult, high dollar course.

Tried TPC for the second time as have out of town guests who thought playing a SoCal TPC Course would be a worthwhile and amazingly memorable experience. At $143 or $572 for the four of us, the concensus of the group was it was okay but way, way overpriced. The facility was very nice, the staff was very nice, the conditions were very nice and the layout was very nice, well within the $90 to$100 range, but unless they are planning on making the course ocean front or have a PGA touring pro as your caddie the pricing is way out of line, we won't be back.

Played in a tourney on 6/20. The course is in great shape with a practice facility second to none. Very challenging layout, pick your tees wisely.

The front winds it way thru a "valley" with homes perched on top of the hillside. Every bit of available land has a home/town house with aview over the course. You get the feeling the course is there only to provide pricey golf course views. The back gives you too many blind shots for my tastes, but has some interesting holes. Clearly a course you would have to play many times to score well. Both nines have the 5 FWY and the Old road to contend with.......

I will never pay the full rack rates to play this course. IMHO, an average layout, in great condition, but just not worth the $$$$.

Great condition, not worth the money. There are far more interesting golf courses around that charge half as much or less. I can think of no holes that were truly memorable...at their rates there should be at least 15 of them. The staff and service were good but if I want great service, I go to a great restaurant. If I pay top dollar for a great golf course, no amount of being fawned over will make up for the fact that the course leaves a lot to be desired. Don't waste your money.

What a great course. Every bit worth the price to play. The conditions were outstanding in every way. Was not very crowded and we got around without having to way at all.
Give it a go!!!!!!! You will not be disapointed. p.s. Not a course for the 20 and over handicaps. You just might lose a lot of balls...

Played last Saturday. Course was in absolutely perfect condition even with all the rain we had. The greens were in great condition. The facility, Clubhouse, Pro Shop are both first rate. My only complaint is that we had 2 drinks each and the tab was $90. A little excessive, could have bought at leat 3.5 liters for that.

Great Conditions! Played last week and the conditions were some of the finest I've played on. Whatever they did this year on the overseed worked because it looks good, and plays good, with very consistent surfaces through out. By far the best overall conditions of all the publics in the SVC and SIMI valleys.

I wanted to check out TPC Valencia, so I went and played as a single at 5pm on a late Sunday afternoon. With daylight savings I finished with no problem. The problem was the green fee was $100 at 5pm on Sunday night! I don't care what track you play, if you're charging $100 for super twilight on an early Sunday evening, it's too much. I know, I know, they're trying to keep the 'riff-raff' out. Well trust me, I'm no slouch and $100 at that time is borderline absurd. Trust me TPC Valencia is not going that good. Anyway, the track isn't that bad, but it's not that good either. I would never pay the buck sixty they want for primetime...no way! And I would never, and I mean never, buy a membership. Not with Robinson, Angeles National, or some other better, more reasonably priced tracks around. They do have a sweet clubhouse and awesome practice facility. But they have priced this "riff raff' out. Good job TPC!!

Played today. I read some negative comments here, but wanted to see for myself. This course is excellent. It was in awesome shape, the holes are interesting and the greens are top notch.

It is a very difficult course to play for the first time. Even with the yardage book, we probably gave away 3 or 4 strokes each just for not knowing where to hit. As far as the $113 green fee, I think it's worth every penny, when you factor in the practice facilities, which are second to none, the lack of crowds, the pace of play and the overall experience. It is definitely worth the $18 difference over playing Lost Canyons...

I would hate to have to walk this course.

The only negatives were that there were maintenance crews on almost every hole, although they were very courteous and let you play. It was also hot, but we never saw the drink cart on the front nine, and only saw her at the turn and on 17, so it was a thirsty round.

Overall, it was a great day and we'll gladly be back.

Played the morning of Jul 3. This was the second time for me, and I'll have to stick with my original assessment: a solid and good, but not great, golf experience. I don't have any complaints at all about the staff and customer service - top notch. Also, the range and practice facilities are terrific as well. But for the money, numerous courses have equally solid facilities and frankly, the courses at PGA Oak Valley and La Purisima, just to name two, are superior in their condition, layout and feel. I'd also choose Rustic Cyn just on the architecture alone, and based on what I've seen of Angeles National, I'd go there first as well. This course simply isn't memorable enough to rate a six figure greens fee.

The course is really nice and in great condition. I got a deal on the green fees and payed $71, that is still too much. There a lot of blind shots, which makes club selection difficult playing there for the first time. I strongly suggest buying a yardage book, or playing with someone who knows the course, otherwise you will be looking for you thought were good shots in the brush. The course could help out by putting hole maps on each tee box so you know where it is safe to hit. The course requires straight tee shots and penalizes the ones that go astray. My foursome played at 11:20 and only saw a few other golfers on the course. Overall a frustrating experience, but I will go back to try it again next time armed with a yardage book.

Nice course, but way too expensive. One can find much better deals at Robinson Ranch. I have played the course 3 times now and luckily only had to pay once (thanks dad)! The course is forgiving from the tees and makes it a place that both good and mediocre golfers can play together and enjoy. This place will never attract a tournament though due to the big rigs flying by less than 70 yards from some of the tee boxes. If they slashed the price in half I would play here often, but at the current weekend rate I would rather play two or three rounds at another course.

The course was in great shape....but way overpriced. I think you are paying for the name (TPC) and the customer service. At times, the staff was overwhelming...the starter acted like it was the first time we had ever been on a golf course..he even said "watch out for rattlesnakes" and then proceeded to show us a picture so we knew what to look for?!? Anyway, lots of blind shots, tight fairways, and difficult landing areas. I'd play it again if it were 1/2 the price (or less).

First time playing this course in my hometown. Luckily my wife gave me a gift certificate as a gift, otherwise the cost would keep me away. Teed off right around 9. Finished a little before 1 as a twosome following a foursome.

I'm not quite sure why people gripe about this course. I found the layout to be fantastic. The conditions were pretty much immaculate. No complaints at all about the conditions.

The course has a good variety of holes. While not an overly difficult course, the greens and pin placements are its main defense. Lots of subtle breaks. I think the biggest break I had all day was maybe 2-1/2 feet, however I didn't have any straight putt within 7 feet all day.

Fairways are fairly wide in most instances, the greens for the most part are fairly large, and very few sand traps to worry about. The rough could be grown out to be a little more penalizing, as its current state is a little over 1 inch, and only once did I have a ball in the rouch that sat somewhat down.

Overall it was a treat. I will be back, however not soon as the cost is a setback.

Let’s start with the course….the back and front 9’s are completely different. I really enjoyed the back nine that rolled thru the oak covered hills with some great views of the SC valley. The front seemed to be laid out to accommodate home & townhouse views ($$$) and seemed like a different course. We bought a yardage book ($8) and it was worth it, several blind tee shots and approach shots along the way make it a must for first time players. Even with the book, we took a drive up several fairways to see where we were hitting. The course is fairly playable, fairways tended to be generous, water comes into play on only 2 holes, and the greens were not overly guarded with traps. The greens are the challenge on this course. They are large, multi-tiered, and fast with some tough reads (a playing partner putted one into the water hazard on #9, TWICE). Overall conditions were very good, what you would expect for a TPC course. Only complaint is that some of the fairways were a little thin in spots. Facilities were exceptional and rival private clubs (which is what this course will be in a short time). I played TPC complimentary of someone’s great gesture. So it was a truly a great experience, one that I would like to enjoy again. However, at $113 for a weekday round, I will NOT be back (>$140 on weekends). If the $$ is not an issue for you, than go play the course now. Our 4-some had the entire course to our selves, never waited for a shot and never held anyone up. Just not worth that price to me, I’ll head up the road to Robinson’s ranch and play, with coupons, at less than half the price.

I played this course this past Sunday and my biggest comment is that this course is not worth the $130 they charge. With the layout, I would consider it a fantastic course at $75 but it had nothing that interesting about it. #18 was a tough hole which required a boom to get over the ravine. There were also a few holes with big oak trees smack in the middle of the fairways. Aside from the layout, the service was great. I doubt I would play it again anytime soon especially if the prices remain so high.

Customer Service was really good. Everyone from the pro-shop, starter, beverage carts and caddies treated us like 1st class.
Regarding the layout- Front 9 is tight - Back 9 has some really fun holes. You definately need to play this 2-3 times to learn the course. Would highly recommend.

Overall, nice golf course. I think it is too close to the freeway, so the whizzing cars on most holes tends to be annoying. Also, the back to back par 5's on the back are poorly designed. The greens roll VERY true and are a pleasure to play on. Also, not really worth $130 on the weekends.

Played July 24th. I was a little miffed that they didn't aerate the greens BEFORE they opened! I can't understand how they can justify $100 per player when the greens were punched (and some of them sanded). On top of that, the staff in the pro-shop two young ladies (who looked as if they would rather be at the mall, talking on their cell phones) were extremely rude to me when I accidentaly told them an inverted tee time. For $100, I would expect some serious butt kissing. The starter also had NO CLUE. Our threesome's tee time was 7:54. He let out the 8:12 FOURSOME before us, just because they wanted to go first. By the time we got to the starter (we were 7 minutes early by the way) he told us we should have been quicker. We decided to wait 10 minutes before teeing off. We also decided to tee off from the tips to slow us down a little. Well, we ended up waiting on every hole. The course itself (the greens notwithstanding) was great. It was a fair test of golf, except for the first par5 on the backside. Totally blind tee shot and second shot. I birdied it anyway, but the design of the hole stunk. All of the other par5s are drivable in two. Fairly easy course to score well on. I shot 74, but left a bunch of shots out there because the greens were not puttable. Also, they had the TPC tee markers two sets of tees forward. We said screw it, and played from the tippy tips anyway. The only other complaint about the course design is that, if you're a long hitter, the course takes driver out of your hands on several of the par4s. Sometimes the fairway will stop at 270 or 280 and narrow extremely. I got to practice my 3wood a lot. The course does have some nice risk-reward holes, which rounds out the experience. My favorite hole was #17. A little over #300 yards to the flag, with trees on the left and a large greenside bunker on the right. I was fortunate enought to put the ball 20 feet from the hole for an easy 2putt bird. I'll definately go there again on a day when the greens are not punched. I also hope that I don't see those teenage valley-girls from hell again. A quick word of warning, if ANY of your players don't show up, they charge you for them. They have a 48hour cancellation policy, so make sure everyone shows, or else!

What a golf course!!!!!
Played here for the first time from the Players Tees. Very spectacular course. The atmosphere is very rural because the course has many big oak trees. Not overly difficult, just a great test of golf. The fairways were aerated and were thin in some areas. Give it a few more weeks to be lush. Greens were jaw-dropping. Rolled smooth and true. Could be better than the greens of Robinson Ranch. I was 2 under after 4 holes but struggled and finished with an 81. The rates now are at 100 dollars which is a little pricey but for a TPC course, I think it is ok. Oh yeah, the range and practice area are super!! Free range balls lying around on the range that can be used anytime!!!
Had a great experience!!!

An excellent course. The course designers did a great job of presenting a strong, but fair test of golf. It is more of a traditional layout, i.e., no tricked up holes. A great job of utilizing the land that was available. There are only 2 water hazards and only 27 bunkers on the entire course. Instead of fake waterfalls or other "tricks," the course has numerous swales around the greens. The greens themselves come in a variety of interesting designs, which makes the course play tougher. For example, #17 is a driveable Par 4 (270), but you have to navigate a tree on the left, bunker right, and the green is a long (50yds) and skinny green with a fast downhill slope. This course puts a premium on chipping skills as well b/c of all the swales and subtle dips just off the putting areas. The staff was friendly and the little details are attended to here. Pricey yes, but they seem to make a solid effort for your money.
