Late posting this one. Played on Tues 7:30 AM tee time. Got out right on time, course is in very good condition, with the exception that all the tee boxes were temporary. All of them have fertilizer, a combination of steer manure and fish bone meal, at least by the odor, also some part of the fairways were getting the same treatment. Greens had been aerated weeks ago, they have recovered nicely, and were rolling quick, usual problem of too many ball marks, some from the 3some in front of us who were playing on the slow side, all older than me, and that is saying something. We did not have to wait on any holes, and we did finish in just over 4 hrs. I guess our 4some was looking at our future, older, wiser, and still playing.

I would like to single out Joe at the desk, and the starter (Benny?). They were friendly, happy to see us come out to play, chit chatted with us, we exchanged jokes with the starter while we waited to tee off. Very pleasant day of golf.

Good news: someone put nice fresh white sand in one bunker on the 3rd hole.

Greens rolling very slow. Still recovering from aeration. Interesting layout, lots of elevation changes. Real crap in the bunkers.
Just a paper thin layer of construction grade sand on top of packed dirt. Probably the worst thing about the course.

Played Friday 9/19...8:05 Tee time..more like 8:35 tee time..tee boxes okay..fairways not too bad..greens, here is a tip FIX YOUR BALL MARKS PEOPLE!!! Also just because you see a ball in the rough it doesn't mean you can just pick it up!!! Had 2 people in out group push a little on 10 and as we went to where we saw the balls land magically they were gone..and two carts were headed up the fairway from the landing area on 18 claiming they didn't see any balls. I keep giving this place a chance from time to time but get the same disappointment..

Played 13 holes. 3:30 pm Monday. Had to jump ahead of the high school girls team. Great day for practice round. Cool views of the hills as the sun sets. The course is in good shape right now. Greens slow because of the time of day. No sand in the traps. Just hard dirt. Fairways are thin but moist. Very hilly course with lots of uphill/down shots. Try this course at least once. GPS !! But, go out with someone who has played the coures for some tips on each hole.

Course is in average shape. Greens were inconsistent in that some are smooth and others bumpy. Fairways were ok. Tee boxes could use some love. As said before, layout is a little awkward on some holes but still a good value at sub-$50.

I've played this course several times. It is challenging because of the layout but the course is in decent shape. Fairways are in pretty good shape, greens are soft, a little bumpy and medium speed and the tee boxes could use a face lift. It's a fun course and you will do better after you know where to hit your tee shot.

This course is in the best shape it has been in in a long time. The fairways are nice and the greens are almost fully recovered from being aerated. Always a challenge and once the greens are fully recovered, it will be fantastic.

Tee off was at 11:52 Sat 4/5...upon arriving to check in found out they had a Corp Golf Event going on that had 70 People...BAD BAD BAD! Basically we were waiting 25 to 30 minutes to tee off at some holes and sadly left after finishing 13 holes in 5 Hours. What was worse was no one was fixing ball marks and the Corp Event people had no idea what waving up meant..1 Marshall was seen all day hiding out by the out house over by 13 th green / 14th tee box. Too bad too because it is a great course with a bad event.

Starting out the first hole, teeing off and right smack dab in the middle is a tree. On the left, a hill upwards with houses, and to the right a drop to another hole, meaning OB. Anaheim Hills is fairly challenging, with some holes blind or seemingly impossible uphill. Conditions are so-so, and greens are mediocrely kept. However, it's a bargain w/cart and challenging enough to come back.

Highlights first. The pro shop and cart girl were first rate. Now the lowlights. Sand traps had 1/4" of sand on top of clay. Fairways were now in good shape and some greens were good while others were weak. The 250yd. par three is a joke. Op top of all this, the winds blew 30 miles per hour through the round. A tough track for the average golfer.

Course in great shape....greens were hard and fast. Always a nicely maintained course and a good deal for the $$ which includes the cart with GPS. Wished the marshalls would push the slower groups a long. I love the various holes, but hate the dog left and right blind shots....however after playing here a few times it is not as intimidating. I try not to keep score when I golf here and I find my enjoyment better.

played friday 12/21/07

conditions pretty much the same as last time i played here...pretty good but not great...

the one thing i have to say about this course is that pace of play was slooooow...pace is never good here, but this time was the worst by far...our tee time was 12...we teed off at 12:10 or later...we finished 16 holes by 5:20...just unbelievable and unacceptable...on some holes, there were three groups backed up...what in the world the marshals were doing that day, i have no idea

people need to play on the proper set of tees for their skill level...if this means playing off the reds, then yes, play off their reds...

Course is in very good shape right now for a muni track. Greens are in exceptional condition right now after aerification. Fairways are pretty standard but soft enough to take a solid divot. Major issues here with getting off on time and pace of play. Tee time was 10:24, didn't get out till just after 11, finished at dusk for a 5 hr 45 min round. Including the fact they ask you arrive 15 min before tee time, I spent just shy of 7 hours here in all for a mid-level course. Simply unacceptable in my opinion. Marshalls are needed here to combat those not playing "ready golf." A nice place to playat a fair value, but be sure you have plenty of time.

played here yesterday 11/12/07...tee boxes, fairways, and greens are in pretty good shape...a few greens are bumpy, presumably from recent aeration, but otherwise pretty good...medium speed...in general, the rough was in good shape, but there were some thin spots...not too bad, though...

was a bit disappointed they had holiday rates, considering veteran's day was sunday, but what can you do?

I have played this course many times, most recently on 9/20. The course was in good condition. There were some bare spots and areas under repair due to heat damage, but overall a very positive experience. The pro shop staff is very helpful and nice. There is an unrestricted internet coupon available on the website that lowers the greens fees for a four some to $33.75 per golfer.

Played on 7/22/07 and the course was in decent shape. Tee boxes were flat and in good shape. Fairways and greens were also in good shape. One thing with the greens is that even though they looked like they should break, they were pretty straight. The speed was what I would consider "medium" and only a couple of pitch marks. The pace of play for a Sunday late morning was about 5 hours. As Johnny stated, I can see that this course could be dangerous, but we did not have any close calls. There are alot of elevated tee boxes where if your not used to it, could cost you a few strokes. Overall impression, I enjoyed Anaheim Hills GC, and would play it again. Side note, I was a guest so I didnt have to pay for the round, so I cannot comment on the cost vs. course conditions.

Course is in fair shape. Main issue is it was very dry which made it difficult to hit a consistent iron shot. Other issue was pace of play. At least one group on every tee and a wait, many times two.

Played on 5/26 - Highly recommend a helmet for this course. We almost got hit several times. Course has a very strange layout. Greens are soft and very bumpy, although not to many ball marks. They are punching the greens this week, so it may improve. Staff is friendly. Rough has inconsistent grasses and needs to be repaired. It is a decent height and is not easy to play from.

Never played this course before even though I'vs heard about it for a long time. Turns out to be a very good course to play. Tight but fair, and challange. Hitting the fairways are a premium. Course is in real good condition. Clubhouse is very nice and the food is very good. The only drawback to this course is the speed of play. A little slow 5+ hours on the weekend. I was told the early morning tee times play a little faster and the mid-week tee time much better. Over all well worth the drive. Would definately play it again

Anaheim Hills is a challenging course in spite of its rating of 121. The trick to this course is to stay on the fairways but check ahead to where the green lies. The 12th hole, especially, is a difficult one for the average to high handicapper due to the elevation and blind areas.

The course on 4/19 was in very good shape with the greens running fast.

I see a lot of negative feedback for this course, but I feel it is unwarranted. For the price, I think this course if very fair. A short course that rewards smart course managment. Greens are still recovering from being punched and another 2 weeks will do some wonders. Otherwise, everything else was in good shape except the sand, which is always bad. Still one of the better values in OC.

Tee boxes have been rebuilt with better sod and leveling. Much better. Fairways show typical cold season domant turf, but very playable. Less than half of the sand traps have sand...calichi in the others. Play on Tuesday 1-16-07 was 30mins behind. 4 hours and 45mins. Mens Club
has tee on first Wedneday of the month. This coase is still a jewel.

Played on Friday morning after the rain. The course was in so-so shape but there were a lot of bare spots. The rain did help to soften up the greens quite a bit but they were still fast. The course is fun to play with a lot of dogleg's and elevation changes...mainly going uphill.

First time playing here and, after reading the reviews, was a little skeptical. However, I enjoyed this course. Is it a 5 star course, not at all... but for $59, by OC standards, this place is good. Tee boxes were lush, albeit unlevel on a few holes given the hilly terrain. The fairways were cut tight and no severe bare spots around. Rough was decent, although quite a few tree roots can be seen. Greens were recently punched and are coming around nicely. As for the bunkers, some were in good shape, some were like concrete. Whereas on one hole I could get a great splash out of the sand, the other would just stopped my club cold. The other interesting feature (which has been well do c&me nted) is the HUGE doglegs on this course. Being overly confident I tried to cut the corners (which cost me 2 sleeves of balls might I add) but I would not recommend it. Layups are the way to go if you are confident with your lower irons. Most doglegs are 180-210 yrds out and uphill. Furthermore, if you try to cut the corner, you have to carry 275-300 yrds or so as most are over another, taller hill. Also, the long 254 yrd par 3, downhill, plays the distance stated as it is into the wind. My favorite hole is #18, par 5, hitting from an elevated tee (probably 250 ft up or so) into a tree lined fairways with a rear crosswind left pushing balls into a hillside if you don't hit a straight ball or have too much draw. No joke, GPS measures, my cousin drove the ball 373 yrds on this hole (thank god his short game sucks or I would have owed him lunch). All in all, a decent course I would recommend for a quick, less expensive round.

Quick take on the course conditions. Tee boxes in fair shape, fairways in good shape and greens in very good shape with few divot marks. Only one truly unfair hole in my opinion is the par 4 ninth. The tee box was in line with the trees on the right side of the fairway. Not good for an 18 handicaper like me.

Hadn't played here since June 2000. The course is not one of my favorites (I like to walk and this one in the heat can be a little too much for these old bones to handle) Generally the course was in nice shape, although the greens were recently punched and were too slow and bumpy for my taste. You know, this is not a hard course, but seems everytime I play here I struggle, but I'll be back, oh, in about another 6 years.

Played for the first time on 7/19 and absolutely hated this golf course. Need some reasons... blind shots EVERYWHERE, ridiculous doglegs (was almost like they designer was on a 10-day bender), greens so slow that a 3-wood was the best club selection from outside of 10 feet, tee boxes like Indian burial mounds. and not a single flat lie to be found.

To its credit, the fairways were in good shape (although soggy in a few areas), rough was difficult but fair, and $44 to ride was a reasonable price. Still, someone would have to seriously twisted my arm to get me to play here again.

The overall course was in good shape. The greens were just punched (I did see the alert), but played anyway. It must have kept people away, because I ended up finishing in under 4 hours. Which is unheard of on a Saturday. I like the new GPS. My recommendation is if you can get on when the course is not crowded, this is a great course to play.

Played this weekend. Greens on front 9 were bumpy and very inconsistent, and back 9 greens were fun and smooth. New GPS in the carts(really nice). All in all a fun day. Played in under 5 hours, and were hassled by the Marshall a few times. We had a 3some in front of us, and he kept wanting us to keep up even though we were a 4some. He was not very polite. All of the other staff was excellent. The starter took his time to show us the new GPS, and explain a little about the course. Fairways and tee boxes were in nice shape.

This course is crap. Greens are a little fast, yet extremely bumpy. The fairways were mud in some spots, dead grass in others? The pace of play was great because we played the morning the fires started, but the other time i played this course it was a 5+ hour round mid-week twilight... Ive played here twice in 3 years, NEVER AGAIN.

The course is short but the greens are fast and a lot of doglegs. A lot of hills but you must take a cart. The green fees are the best in Orange County but they will be going up in January. They will be getting the newest GPS system on the carts, so overall, it is one of the best deals in town.

Got a tee time of 10:00 am on the phone, but when we arrived were told a "mistake" had been made and we could go off at 10:36--wonder if that was because we were a threesome of women and the pro shop was filled with men waiting to play? We were also treated by the starter as if we were retarded--told us that we needed to "be sure to keep up the with group ahead of you" like we could get behind on a course that is jammed up and plays to 5+ hours every time you go there. As usual, the GPS on the cart we were assigned did not work in spite of 15 tries to reboot it. We were given a $2.50 per player refund, but that doesn't help much while you're out on the course and yardage markers are not easily found. The man who was our fourth is an Anah/Hills regular and he said that the quirky fast greens make the course like miniature golf since chips rolled back off the greens and putts from above the hole rolled 40 feet or more off the greens. On a positive note, it really made me appreciate everything about Green River (my home course) a lot more.

I have played this course 4 times in the last year. The course is in great shape, the greens are quick and roll great. The problem is they try to make your experience around the greens as rediculously difficult as possible. They shave the greens, Us Oen style and place the pins so that is you miss your putt the ball will roll off the greens and back down the fairway. I tested this by placing a ball next to several holes and release the ball-no pushing. It rolled down the green under it's own power and off the green 30 feet. Rediculous, and getting progressivly worse. I will not be playing this course again. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Wonderful greens....aerated almost a month earlier. Overall course in great shape compared to most other Public Courses. Some very pretty greens on the front 9. Enjoyed some of the elevated tee boxes. Worst things.....a lot of Blind Shots and severe Dog Legs. However if you cannot see where you are hitting to, just drive ahead an check out the layout first. I really enjoyed this course, however my playing partner hated all the Blind Shots! It could play quicker, however if you do not play here often, you need the extra time.

Played on 10-20-05. What a lousy experience in customer service. We had two tee times because we had 8 players. 3 guys canceled at the last minute so we had 5 players. One of those guys was going to have to leave early, after 7 or 8 holes. We asked if could go out as 3 and 2 (they dont allow 5 somes, which was fine with us) and when the one guy left we would join up and be a 4 some. The starter gave us a bunch of "crap" over that so our leader went to the pro shop and pleaded our case. They reluctantly allowed us to head out as 3 and 2. Well, most of us live in Anaheim and play the course alot. And if you play here, or ever have, you know this corse is nortorious for slow play, even during the week. Well as usual it was slow, we were waiting on every hole. On the 3rd hole the 3 some tee'ed off and was waiting on the fairway for the green to clear as it had been. So we thought why not speed up play a little so we we waved up the 2 some as there was a 4 some behind them. They hit into the fairway and by that time the green was clear so the 3 some hit up. After the 3 some cleared the green then they would hit up. We kept doing this and it seemed to help. Hole 6 is a 3 par and there is sign which says wave up the next group after you get to the green. Well we did this and here comes the Marshall yelling at us about playing a 5 some. And I mean yelling. We tried to explain what we were doing and he would not hear it. He made the 2 some wait untill the 3 some left the green and was on the way to no. 7 before they could putt out. As one of our guys put it, "it reminded me of a world war 2 gestapo check point" This Marshall was not nice at all, even threatening to kick us off the course. And yes, play slowed up again. After one of our guys left, we still played as two 2 somes, figuring we would get in trouble if we joined up. We finally joined up on hole 17 cause we were almost done. And the ironic thing was, the foursome behind the last 2 some caught up to us and told us they told the Marshall we were playing faster before and he should have left us alone. they said he was not nice to them either. Oh yeah what was our time, 4 hours and 44 mintutes, that says it all. We waited on every hole. The hills is a nice course, the new club house is great but I dont care if I ever play there again. Goose Creek or Los Serranos are father away but better to play at.

Played on 10/16. Greens are in great shape and are recovering nicely from the aeration. Started at 10am and finished in about 4 hours 20 mins but it could have been due to the weather (some rain). GPS units weren't working but somebody came out on the course and fixed ours. Tricky course...need to know distances and lots of blind/elevated shots. Very women/senior friendly, red tees have big advantage on several holes.

This course is in great condition, definitely a challenge. Many doglegs and unseen fairways and/or flagsticks. The green were in tip top condition, and you can start your round off with an Eagle putt. This course ALWAYS plays 5 plus hours, I wish the duo they paired us up with understood this. The jerk was in a rush to pass these ladies in front off us, only to find on the next hole two groups waiting on the tee box. This inpatient mofo thru off my game for the rest of the day. Great course, they do need more H20 out on the course.

I hadn't played the course for about a year and I was surprised to find it in such good shape. The layout on the front lends itself to a very slow start with holes 3-5 really slowing things down. On a good day the pace of play will pick up from there. There are not too many good days. It usually takes 5 + hours to completed 18.

Plan on a long round...fun little layout with most holes lying out of sight. Do some homework on the course before you play, their scorecard does not have picture layout of bunkers or H20. Some of the best views off tee-boxes including a "bobcat" sighting at sunset on the 14th hole. Wait two weeks after aeration and it should play even better.

Its a nice course but d%mn chanselor(marshall) needs to do his job and tell slow people to let people pass or pick up there balls.

Played 7/27/05 at 10:30A. Let me just say first off that it was a 5 hr. 20 minute round. Disgustingly slow. If you want to play this course at a 4 hr. pace you gotta play before 7:45A. Otherwise forgetta about it. I do however love the layout. Exceptional fun, layout. Tricky and interesting enough with lots of elevation changes to keep you guessing. Greens were pretty good, fairways as well. I do think this course should be rated higher at a 7.2 or so. (Probably because of weak customer service, WORTHLESS MARSHALLS WHO DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO SPEED UP PLAY, however don't get me wrong, they were nice enough , just worthless in their duty to run an efficient pace of play. ) I think this course has the next best layout next to Coyote Hills, which I love. Overall, I recommend this course- just be sure to play EARLY or else don't b*tch about the slow play.

Played 5/30, greens were punched last Monday so putting was bad. We played in a tournament and the course should have at least let us know the greens were punched. Lots of elevation changes here.

This is a very tricky golf course. It has a low slope rating but the golf course is very hilly. Most holes have blind dogleg tee shots and almost all the par 3s play downhill. Conditions were average but good on certain holes. All in all, a decent golf course to play while in Anaheim.

Greens were punched before rains and washed all sand out of them, still very bumpy. I would wait at least two weeks before I would go back.

Played on 2-14-05, and when I arrived I noticed the greenskeepers working on No. 9 Green and wondered what was up. Well guess what, they were punching the greens that day. When I called and made the tee time on 2-7-05, not one word was said about punching the greens on the 14th or I would have never made the tee time. This is the second time this has happened to our foursome at this course. I let the guy in the pro shop know how I felt and he was apologetic and said I should have been told when I called. They were charging twilight rates. We tried to get on another course but it was to short of a notice for that for a foursome. We ended up playing and just made it a practice round. And of course, half of the greens were punched with temporary greens set up. I guess you have to ask every time you make a tee time if they are punching or overseeding.....UGH!!

Played on a Thursday, late morning and had an enjoyable round, even though it took five hours. The course was in good shape and the guys in the pro shop and the starter were very friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable ($26 each, with cart) with a Red Dot discount coupon. Seniors (55+) play during the week for $28, so this course is a good value, but don't plan on playing much under five hours because of the layout of the course and the clientele.

Played on Oct 4th. Had not played here in awhile. Last couple of times we played here the guy in the pro shop was not very friendly. Came across like we were brothering him. Today noticed two new guys I have noticed here before. They were friendly, cracking jokes and helpful. More customer friendly sevice than I have seen here in a long time. Course was in decent shape including the greens. However it was very slow. We tee'ed off only 10 mins. late (which was good) but we waited on every shot. We had a 4 some and it took 4 hours and 55 min untill we walked of the 18th green. Kinda bad for a monday. Other than that we had a great game.

This is about the fourth time that I've played this course. I played in a foursome at 10:00 am on a Saturday. The pace of play was average. I've never liked the customer service at the course. The kids that work in the shop make you feel like you are disturbing their day and I've never seen a smile on their face. The starter and marshall were a lot friendlier.

They charged full price even though the greens were aerated a few days before. I know this is not unusual but this month's issue of Golf Digest had a very good letter in the "From the Gallery" section about courses not telling you about being aerated before you play... loved the statement of
"Here's a bright idea: If you've got unputtable greens, I get a discount. Half the course for half of the price."

Course plays slow due to the large number of Lateral Hazards and trouble locating wayward shots. It is a simple fact that blind shots will be difficult to locate especially with so many elevation changes. For the price, location, green conditions and beauty, Anaheim Hills is a good value.

Anaheim Hills was in pretty good shape Saturday. Greens rolled true and held approach shots. The layout is a little quirky with lots of elevation change. Had a good time despite the 5.5hr+ round. Can't expect much faster in SoCal with a weekend noon tee time.

Snack Bar employee (old lady) just plain rude and utterly stupid! Fairways extremely bare, played winter rules from them unless you wanted to hit off dirt. Sand traps needed to be filled, way too thin. Player's Assistant did not do his job at all...pace was slow due to a few groups and he just drove by even after many groups complained. He and the snack bar lady must've graduated from the same dunce school. Would not go back again unless they fire and hire.

Greens were in good shape and very fast. They were starting to aerate some of the fairways while we were playing. Play was slow. Took us 4 3/4 hours. Group in front was a hole and half behind. They were very slow. We waited on every hole for them. Mentioned it to the Marshall and he must not have said anything to them cause it never got any better. Was not good! On the bright side, the new clubhouse etc is very nice!

BOY! !, WAS THIS COURSE SLOW. THE MARSHALLS WHERE SOOO RUDE WHEN WE ASKED ABOUT THE PACE? I WILL NEVER PLAY HERE AGAIN! ! ! THE COURSE IS O.K., BUT NOT WORTH THE CURRENT RATE. FAIRWAYS WHERE HARD AND FAST WITH ALOT OF ROLL. ROUGHS WHERE ROUGH. THE ONLY GOOD PLAYING SURFACE WHERE THE GREENS. SMOOTH AND FAST, TOUGH TO READ. A GOOD CHALLENGE. I HAVE RED DOT AND PLAY MORE GOLF DISCOUNT 2 FOR 1, BUT I DO NOT EVEN WANT TO WASTE MY TIME ON THIS COURSE AGAIN !

The Hills is always a test of your game. I think it is very underrated at 69.6/117 from the blues. Tee's, fairways, and greens in very nice shape. You have to play a couple of times to get the lay of the land. position is very important on several holes. Several greens have some severe slope and thear fast. If your above the hole, USE Caution.

New club house opens next week and I hope that they re-number the holes back to the original layout.

For a senior, golf with cart including GPS at $28.50 is really hard to beat.

I consider Anaheim Hills one the better golf course in orange county. Our group plays there about 4 to 5 times a year. Course is short and interesting. Lots of scenic holes and doglegs to deal with. It’s definitely not a grip it and rip it track. We teed off this morning and found the greens to be in very good condition. The fairways were a little thin but playable. Pace of Play was great.

Played this course on Oct 11 and is a pretty good layout. Not to tough if you hit it straight. Pretty short course with really good greens. Course can be in better condition but give it a few weeks and it should be in great shape. They were doing some overseeding on some holes.

Played this course on 10/07/03 - Greens - fantastic! They would be the best if players would just take a second to repair their pitch marks!! But otherwise really fast and generally smooth. Fairways - very good. Tee boxes - some of them are rock hard, others patchy, but not bad on the whole. Just can't wait for the club house to be in use! A great course for sure!

We got very lucky on Tuesday, it was not crowded at all. The course was in great shape and we practically had the place to ourselves. This place is as close as a muni gets to being a private country club. This is a beautiful, serene and very challenging course, but fair. Expect to give up a few strokes if you don't know the layout, this place has wicked doglegs that are more like a u-turn. Great value, twilight w/cart was $26 midweek. You can't beat that with a titanium driver!

Course is in great shape. Greens are small and very fast. Several holes are dog legs and if you haven't played here before or your not playing with someone who has you better off laying up because you will have no idea where the green is. Course is alot of fun. Value is great and your playing in Gods country.
