Played Saturday morning. Course in very nice shape tee to green. Played white tees, pace of play right around 4:20. Could have been quicker but there was a small tournament out before us which caused a slight delay. Course was still a bit wet from the rains two days earlier.
Tee boxes level and good coverage, a few were a bit shaggy but nothing that affected play. Fairways were green and had great coverage. Rough was up, wet and very thick in some places. Greens were pretty quick, maybe the fastest I've seen them in a long time.
Was great to finally get out and play golf - first round in a few months, and great to see Tijeras in such great shape.
Staff very friendly, cart service around a few times, food in restaurant was very good. Love this course, especially under current conditions. Hope to be back soon.

A bit of a late review. Despite its proximity to my home, I do not play Tijeras much anymore because of the cost, but received an invite to join some friends and took advantage of the opportunity. I have to admit that the course was in much better condition than I expected, having read recent reviews. Greens have recovered from the aeration and rolled nicely. Good coverage in the fairways, rough. Both bunkers I found had adequate sand which was well manicured.

I have always enjoyed playing here, and for years purchased the creek card, but with the price increase and the fact that the creek card is only a fraction of the value it once was, I limit my play here. Too bad, because being so close to home, it was a nice alternative to playing Coto every day without spending hours on the road.

Played 12/4, course is far better than the 4 condition rating. I’d say 7.5 right now, only the greens being bumpy and punched maybe 4 weeks ago keeps it from being 8-8.5 in playing conditions. Fairway... Continue »

Played 12/4, course is far better than the 4 condition rating. I’d say 7.5 right now, only the greens being bumpy and punched maybe 4 weeks ago keeps it from being 8-8.5 in playing conditions. Fairways lush, rough consistent. Bunkers were semi soft, just to thin of top layer, maybe inch of soft stuff which is unusual considering they just did their course maintenance and over seeding 4 weeks ago. Otherwise course back to its usual great conditions and challenging as always.

Played on 11/11/21. As the previous posts have said, they were not planning on mowing anytime soon - this led to a 3"-6" high fairway. The actual "rough" was about 5"-8" of grass. In my foursome, if all fairway shots were hit, we were lucky to find 1 without having to search a 20-yard radius looking straight down.

Greens were still bumpy from the aeration, I would give it about a 65% healed rate, and the stimp around a 6. They have not managed the greens at all, accompanied by the fairways/rough.

To pay $50-$90 depending on being a member/time, it is not worth the money(by far - the only way I would play right now is if it was free). Beware for the short term, as it did not sound like they were planning on any changes anytime soon. I will not be back for at least 4 months due to this experience.

Play day was 11/06/21 While it was a gorgeous day with some great company with me here at Tijeras Creek, I sure did not have my hopes up knowing that a recent aeration and reseeding, including the prior review. It was $80 to play at 12:50 that had lasted 4 and a 1/2 hours. All tees were together at the green tee location of some 5700 yards. The review prior is accurate. I'd like to add that the sprouting of the new grass are staring to come out. It is cart paths only- I see locals carrying which was a smart thing. The fairways has not been mowed for a week or so. You maybe on the fairway, but you'll spend time to look for it once you get there- the grass on most fairways were higher than the ball. The same goes for the rough. It is very easy to lose a ball in it. Some areas are almost a foot high and lush, but for the most part it's about 6" deep. The greens were not good at all. It is bumpy, very slow and it's not breaking or staying its line so it's just a wild guess for the most part. The bunkers have sand, and the teeing grounds were pretty bare because all tees are together on the same teeing grounds. People say, they're not starting to mow any time soon- a week and a half at the earliest is what the rumor has. GPS on cart. Beverage cart came around a few times. Staff were helpful and informative. At this time, it isn't a fair time to review this course because of its current aeration and reseeding, however, if it's going to be this bad, I also feel it isn't fair to open for play to patrons. I would come back in a couple of months to see what this place play like.

I have long been a fan of Tijeras Creek and I have always enjoyed the challenge. It is (for me, anyway) the tale of two courses, the front and then the back nine!

It seems they have recently raised their prices where the “senior” rate is now $99 whereas I recall as recently as a year or two ago paying in the vicinity of $65. If that’s worth it to someone, that’s an individual decision but I wanted to play it while in the area so I shelled out the pre paid $99 (non refundable) per golfer at the time of reservation. To be fair, they will give course credit if for some reason notice is given. In this case, I don’t think it was worth it.

Much of the course was swamp like and muddy. To this “duffer” it was so wet there was little to no roll on the fairways, my ball was muddy as were my shoes and it made for a difficult day! On several greens there was standing water! The traps were inconsistent where some were soaked and others playable.

For $99, I expect a little more. The standard rate for the tee time we played as $133. Pretty disappointed!

This course has been amazing all spring / summer, but recently it's starting to go downhill fast. This course charges a premium, and usually you get a premium experience. The customer service is great and all the amenities you could want are there. Where it's going downhill is the course conditions. Played a 4some on a Wednesday morning and was throughly disappointed with the conditions out there. The course is over watered with muddy spots all over. Some greens had puddles of water on them and the sand traps have decent coverage, but it's thick, wet sand. Fairways were patchy all over...thin spots, different grasses, weeds, and wet. You never knew what lie you were gonna get. Rough was pretty thick and punishing. The greens (normally a bright spot) were awful! Lots of pitch marks (some unfixed), water puddles, and inconsistent speeds. Some were definitely slower than practice green and others were super fast. The tee boxes were really beat up and all the tee colors were hitting from the forward tees, so it made some holes a little more interesting. It hasn't been that hot of a summer so not sure what's going on course maintenance wise, but right now, it's not even close to good condition, and definitely doesn't justify the premium price.

Joined an internet golf group I belong to at Tijeras Creek GC on Monday. 9/6/21, at 320pm. We teed off on time (starter had it all under control) and finished in 4+ hours, finishing #18 just at dark.

The entire course was pretty damp - turf throughout had a “just-watered” look. Greens were very soft and receptive, with good coverage and rolled at medium speed, but all had lots of old unrepaired ballmarks. Fairways were a crapshoot, generally thin with some good lies but frequently we encountered semi-bare or bare areas. Rough was 2-3 inches deep and sometimes better than the fairway to hit from. Sand with adequate playing layer but pretty wet; rakes were out and the course also puts a rake on the cart(!). Tees were OK – the Blue/White markers were pushed forward; after about 4 holes we figured out that the White tees were on the Green markers (5,797/67.9/120).

Carts with a very nice interactive TFM GPS; but it doesn’t show other carts locations, which would help on some of the blind shots encountered. Some sprinkler heads are marked, and there are 200/150/100-yard plates in the MOF. The course uses an entry/exit gate system to manage cart wear on entries to the fairways. Water jugs were available!! We saw lots of deer on the back 9!

Course is very playable right now.

Played on April 18th at 8:30am with about 6 different groups for a little skins game. Pace of play was about 4:10 and the weather was warm/windy. Course is in great shape and the greens have never been smoother. Love the two different nines at Tijeras with the front being a little more open and the back a little tighter.
TEE BOXES: were in decent shape, mostly level and the par 3's on the back are a little thin. FAIRWAYS: are lush and in prime condition. Never had a bad lie in anyway of the fairways.
ROUGH: is lush as well. Penalizing in certain spots depending on where you miss it.
BUNKERS: quality sand in the bunkers. Tijeras uses two different types, darker colored one in the fairway bunkers and a white sand in the greenside bunkers.
GREENS: are in the best shape I've ever seen them in. They roll true and aren't bumpy. Speed wasn't that quick but it was a hot windy day so I'd guess they didn't cut them too tight that morning.
Overall, it is always a really treat to play the Creek. Would highly recommend!!
