Played twilight at Tijeras 1/10/2021 at 1pm. First off pace of play was amazing, we finished right before 5pm under four hours which was a huge bonus. They are a little more strict here about COVID than other courses locally and all single rider carts which I enjoy. Course has overseeded as usual and course is very green and lush. The tee boxes are okay, always alot of divots out on the par three boxes and not always perfectly level. Fairways have good coverage on most holes, a few patchy areas here and there, number 4 comes to mind, but overall nice. Rough is really nice, deep long overseed, fun to play out of. The greens were as firm as Id ever seen them here and rolling very quickly, I'd guess about 11 on the stimp. I think the firmness of the greens has limited how many ball marks you usually see out here too which is nice. Definitely overall in good shape and would highly recommend right now, always nice to play in the winter when everything else locally is dormant.

Had a great day at Tijeras Creek. Staff was friendly (more places need to encourage this), the course was great shape for late summer/early fall and the pace of play was good. Most fairway divots were filled with the sand provided, but what is it with some golfers not repairing ball marks on the greens?!? They were fairly soft despite the dry conditions and heavy use, and I thought were in good shape. Our playing partners, regulars at Tijeras, didn’t think the course was in good shape but I did! All in all an enjoyable day.

Tijeras is perhaps my favorite layout in Orange County. Sadly, playing today the conditions are really quite poor. Heavy use and recent heat have turned made conditions like a low level muni despite the $100+ green fees. The course needs to close for two weeks and get back to normal.

Fairways were dried out with tons of bare spots. Several greens had such bad ball marks around the pins that it looked like the surface of the moon. I know the old "play it as it lies" mantra but I repeatedly had to move my ball out of divots or just straight-up dirt and onto crab grass. Overall had fun playing with a co-worker and paireed with a couple seniors who were very nice.

Overall, I'd recommend waiting until some maintenance is done here before playing again.

Overall in good shape but overly soft and wet. I counted 6 balls that completely plugged (near green and just off fairway).

Tee boxes were chewed up, lots of un-repaired divots. I've always felt it is a 50/50 responsibility between players and course crew. and I think players are failing badly at filling / repairing divots on tee, fairways and greens.

Fairways were thin matted down grass in many areas, on top of soft ground or mud, to the point my group of 4 decided to play the ball up (lift, clean, replace) on the back side. I hit several approach shots from fairway with mud on the ball on the front side.

Greens were also super soft, and while they (obviously) held shots, were slow and only smooth in spots. Many ball marks throughout, made for difficult day putting. Pool noodles in cups, which is less than desirable but I understand.

Bunkers were very good, with only a couple of exceptions. Full of sand and raked well. Course provided a rake on every cart as part of the covid protocol.

Fun layout with front 9 more tree lined through homes, which do not come into play. Back nine though a much more natural setting and plays about 300 yards less from blue tees.

Patio open for lunch ad drinks, was a big plus. Very good service throughout.

Played Tijeras with the regular group and had an early morning tee time – 6:30 ugh! But wasn’t going to pass up an opportunity to play here regardless of when the tee time was. Looked like all Covid 19 protocols are in place including single carts. Starter asked us to please finish in 4 hours or less so they can keep the carts moving and available for later tee ties. No problem there as we finished in under 3½ hours. Love single carts!! As expected, the course was in very nice condition except they were pretty wet. Looks like the sprinklers were just turned off as we started. Aside from being wet, fairways were in great shape. We were careful driving out there so as not to leave tire marks in wet areas on the fairways. Greens were excellent even though damp. Really holding. One green, #10, was so wet, putts were literally hydroplaning. Other than that everything else was pretty darn good. Tee boxes – excellent, bunkers were also excellent. Damp but very playable. I thoroughly enjoy playing here and would play here more often if it was closer to me. The price tag is also high. We paid $65 - a discount I guess as the rack rate is definitely higher. Thumbs up for this course and look forward to playing again.

First time back out since the virus shutdown. I wanted to play local and Tijeras Creek was the only course I could find that would let you book a single online. For singles, Arroyo Trabuco wants you to just show up and wait in the lot to see if a spot opens, and Talega makes you call. TC was crazy expensive ($88) at 3:42pm on Monday, 5/18/20, but I wanted to get out. The game was pretty ugly after 11 weeks off, but at least the front nine here gives you a chance to work out some of the kinks without too much damage.

I was paired with a family group of father and 2 sons, one of whom is a member of the golf team at St. Margaret’s in SJC. They were pleasant to play with but not talkative and all very deliberate, so we were pushed hard the entire round by the quicker foursome behind us, but for the most part we were in position, and finished in just under 4 hours.

All the virus protections were evident – golf shop closed with check-in at the entry door, calls to carts 10 minutes ahead of your tee time, well-spaced times, range open with distancing [range NOT!! included with green fee!), foam ring in the cups, no water/sand refills/rakes. At least they had the bathrooms open, and we saw a cart girl a couple times.

Greens were in good shape with complete coverage, soft and a little bumpy and rolling at medium speed. I was disappointed to see quite a few unrepaired ballmarks on most greens. Fairways had good coverage and were mostly fine, but some areas are drier/thinner. Rough was maintained but we’d had some showers the previous night and that morning and it was wet and ate the ball up quickly. Sand was pretty wet but adequate to play from. Tees were generally in good shape.

Course uses entry and exit gate areas for carts to manage damage to turf. No GPS but plates in the COF at 100/150/200 and some sprinkler heads are marked. Overall well-maintained conditions but I seemed to find every overly bushy/bad spot – poor shots result in poor lies, I guess! Only one hole was path only – hole #6, which always seems to be in that condition. The Blue and White tees were pushed forward one box on most holes – I wound up playing the White plates, which most often corresponded to placement of the Blue markers.

Recommended, but hopefully you can get a better rate.

Nice to get out and play some place different. Not a lot to add to 1ruuner's recent review. Course was in nice shape, although the greens still too slow for my taste. Fairways were better than expected. Nice to see that some courses have actually mowed fairways/rough.

As expected, covid 19 restrictions in place, but it felt also normal playing. Always enjoy playing here, and since it's geographically close, just makes it all the better. Nice to be out golfing again. Staff was as usual very friendly.
