Played the North on Friday 10/1. Fairways are nice and have been good for three weeks. Ground is starting to get a little firm which means time to overseed is almost here (3 weeks). Greens were rolled and picked up about two feet of speed (about 10.5 stimp) and you can tell they have been dried out but they still hold very well. Greens will also be aerated in three weeks as speeds will most certainly be blazing by post Thanksgiving as the undulations will get stimp up to 13 and handicaps will start increasing. Most tees and rough in great shape. POP has been 4 hours teeing off mid-morning.

(Can't say the same for the South course) Greens rolled well, very receptive with decent speed. Fairways have good coverage and are nice and green. Tee boxes much improved. Sand is as always in great shape.

With the South going to be closed for 3 weeks for over seeding & green aeration, it is going to be very busy on the North. Hope the course can handle all the additional traffic ?

First out as usual on a very pleasant morning. The drizzle we had yesterday seemed to soften and slow the greens somewhat, so they were more receptive to getting the ball up and down, which helped a lot, because I did not hit many greens in regulation today.

Course conditions are improving, but still have a ways to go before they return to "pre fairway aeration" condition. But in mid October they will be closing again for a month to over seed and aerate the greens, so just as condition approach "normal" we'll be back in questionable condition again.

Played North on Sunday. This the first week open after major aeration of fairways. Recovery is weeks ahead of where the South course was at the same point in time probably because the fairways were re-turfed a couple of years ago and the Bermuda grass is popping quicker in the hot temperatures.

Greens are soft and surrounds are nice, bunkers are great.

Our biggest problem is Monday charity tournaments where very few golfers repair divots or ball marks. They drive where ever they want and cause a lot of damage. The membership also needs to do better job themselves, especially ball marks.

Marshals keep POP at around 4 - 4:15 hours. Cart guys and pro shop are very good.

Course has been made a lot easier over the years due to removal of lots of bunkers and cutting back of trees. Perhaps removing some trees has helped the growing out of tee boxes . Green speeds are what makes the North course. Currently 9.5 for the summer, well off the 12-13 speeds we see in Dec - Mar.

Fairways should be back to normal in two weeks if temperatures remain hot.

First time back on the North Course since July 4th. Now that they finished their maintenance on the fairways, the course has reopened with most of the holes not CPO. Fairways were great prior to the maintenance, now they are borderline fair at best. I'm told they will recover in a few weeks, but it's been 7+ weeks on the South course, and those fairways have not yet returned to the wonderful condition we enjoyed before they "improved" them ??

Greens were good, but slower than usual. However extremely receptive. Every shot I hit left a huge ball mark. Bunkers, as always were great. Rough generally was good as are the tee boxes.

I have been a member here for almost 32 years, and the course has never played worse than it does now. I'm told to wait, because it will be "the best it's ever been". We'll see !

First out as usual on a very bright sunny morning. Because of all the watering, very humid. As this course will be closing for at least two weeks beginning in July to punch fairways and relevel some of the tee boxes. (Don't understand why it takes two weeks closure to punch fairways? ) The South course tee box project has been going on now for 4 weeks and does not appear to be anywhere close to completion, so I suspect the North will be the same !

The course is in nice right now, which makes closing it all the more frustrating. I appreciate and understand that maintenance needs to be done, and it's great that the course is spending the time/money to do this, BUT - I think they should have allowed the South course to be completed/recovered, before starting on the North. Now we'll have both courses either closed or under temporary conditions.

Greens are quick and true, but by the time I get back out to play them - who knows ? Just thankful we have two courses, even if one is only part way open.

Invited to play here today for my birthday. I have always wanted to play one or both of these courses and my wish came through. When first arriving the service one receives is like being a member. Very much appreciated. The course is wonderful. I of course read many of Weber's reviews and I did not notice that the tee boxes had issues. And if he says the greens are slow, then I don't know if I would want to putt on them when they are faster than they were today (brutal-more to follow). As I said, I took no exceptions to the tee boxes. Fairways were perfect and provided good roll and great lies all round. I honestly have no idea how or why I missed a sand trap (they are deep, large and many). My partners never complained from hitting from such nice white sand and most of their shots were great (and there were rakes). Rough was not too difficult. Many OB areas and a few water holes to navigate that will no doubt provide some angst to anyone playing here for the first time. Greens were great. Best I have putted on all year. Large and undulating and they had speed. And because they were having a tournament after we teed off, the pins were in some spots that were just plainly difficult, making it even more "enjoyable". The North course is in a lovely setting of Orange County. It is a course that will surely test your golfing skills, regardless of your level. Food/drinks on the patio afterwards were excellent. If you are ever invited to play here do not pass it up.

First out on a very busy Memorial Day morning. Typically Coto is fairly empty on holiday weekends, but not today ! However being out first negates any pace of play issues. Except for the tee boxes. (Which will be addressed in July) the course is in very nice condition. Fairways have good coverage and still green/lush, even with the lack of rain. Bunkers are excellent as usual. (Nice to have rakes again) Greens roll smooth, but they have never recovered their speed since the aeration?

With the south course going to be closed for two weeks beginning 6/7/21, the north will get lots of traffic. But then in July it will be reversed and the north will close for a couple weeks, so everything evens out I guess. During these closures they will resurface and level all the tee boxes and aeration/sand all the fairways.

Out early as usual on an overcast mild morning. Not too busy which was nice. Greens are about 80% recovered from the aeration. However they they still have not regained their speed. While it makes chipping & putting much easier, it is an adjustment from what I am used too. Normally the greens are so quick, it makes any putt above the hole or "short side" a real challenge. Now - no problem. (I should enjoy it while it lasts )

Overall the course is in very nice condition, except for a few of the tee boxes. I understand they will be subcontracting an outside company to laser and re-grass the tees on both courses, which would be a welcome improvement.
