Wanted to make certain I took advantage of the "window" between the storms, so it was easy to play home at Coto. Carts on path, which actually makes things easier for me, because I don't have singles in carts pushing me.

Greens were very good, quick, smooth and reasonably receptive. Most of the fairways were fine, with a few areas which are way too thin and need attention. Bunkers still in great shape. Rough is some good, some spotty. Tee boxes are fine.

I guess because of the CPO and the holiday, wasn't very crowded today. Being from the Midwest, I always appreciate being able to play golf this time of year, particularly in my shirtsleeves. Ah, you gotta love Southern California.

Out early as usual on a cool (43 degrees) morning. Thanks to the recent rains, no frost, otherwise it would have been right on the edge, as they seem to call frost at 42 degrees ???

Out early as usual on a cool (43 degrees) morning. Thanks to the recent rains, no frost, otherwise it would have been right on the edge, as they seem to call frost at 42 degrees ???

Greens are good, rolling true and fairly receptive. There are areas in some of the fairways which are very thin and need to be roped off. Rough is marginal, some good, some questionable. Tee boxes are looking very good.

Carts on path for both courses right now, which works for me as I always walk. I guess because of COP, there was hardly anyone playing. (The new carts have a GPS system which prohibits the carts from entering areas not allowed, so no more "cheating".) So when its COP, the volume of play drops dramatically.

Otherwise both courses handled the rain very well, no casual water, no water in the bunkers, so as long as the crossovers from one hole to the next don't flood, rain was welcome

South course has reopened after being closed for fall maintenance. To my delight, they did not punch the fairways/rough, but the tee boxes have all been over seeded, and the greens have been punched ... Continue »

South course has reopened after being closed for fall maintenance. To my delight, they did not punch the fairways/rough, but the tee boxes have all been over seeded, and the greens have been punched & sanded.

Surprisingly the greens rolled reasonably well considering they were just punched. I'm sure in a few days, once the sand has "settled" into the holes, they were become very bumpy. The course just looks "scruffy", not well manicured/maintained.

Cold mornings now, so play seems a little lighter than previously as I suspect people are waiting until it warms a little before going out. (Works for me)

Course is in good overall condition, except that they are over watering the fairways, and the greens are wat too firm. Nothing holds ! Even well struck wedges will not hold ? They will punch the greens, tees, fairways, rough on 10/21/19, so perhaps that will help ?

They also need to "rework" some of the greenside bunker sand as it has become too compacted. Lots of sand, just too firm

Feels like I have been playing "away" a lot recently, so it was nice to stay home and play. Surprisingly busy this morning, but still no issue getting out, and no pace of play issues, walking in 2hr 45 min. Course has held up to the heat very well, but they are putting a lot of water on the course, so it's really humid, almost like playing golf in the Midwest. Greens rolling about 11 but holding shots well. Fairways still nice, with a few brown spots showing. Bunkers excellent, rough not too high, so very playable.

Considering they just punched these greens on Tuesday, 8/13, (small tines) they rolled remarkably well and still maintained good speed. The remainder of the course is in nice condition, fairways were lush but still provide some roll out. Bunkers, tee boxes in good shape.

Very empty this morning, perhaps people fearing the greens would not be good? Works for me!

The North course, which has been closed since June 12th, was to have reopened on 8/1/19, but as they decided (As I knew they would) to allow another few weeks and then revisit, I have been relegated to play the South Course. Despite the heavy play it's received, the course has held it's own, and is actually in great condition. Greens rolling true, fairly quick and receptive. Fairways are excellent as are all the bunkers. Rough is good, a few tees need some attention however.

Greens were supposed to have been punched this week, but it appears they will delay until the North opens, if/when that happens.

After playing away for the past five days, it was nice not to have to drive far and play a "home" game. Course has held up well to all the play it is receiving considering the North course has been closed, so everyone is forced to play the South.

Greens smooth, true, and reasonably quick. Fairways green/lush, but firm. Bunkers are great, rough for the most part good. All the green surrounds were recently redone, so they are now very nice shape.

Course very busy now which is to be expected. Another month before the North reopens, so hoping the extra play does not alter the present condition of the course?

It's been almost a month since I last played the South Course, because I had been playing the North due to the fact that course will close effective 6/12/19 for 6-8 weeks for fairway renovation. It was nice to get get out even on this drizzly morning. (Hey, it's June in Southern California, it is not supposed to rain)

Course is in very nice shape, green, lush, greens rolled well, still fairly quick even though I was ahead of the mowers. Fairways tight, but good. Bunkers excellent.

Not much play this morning? I guess the drizzle kept all the golfers away! Works for me.
