Desert Willow is one of the better maintained tracks in the Coachella Valley that is open to the public. Greens are smooth, firm, and medium speed...tee boxes, fairways and rough are in GREAT shape...especially for this time of year. My only complaint is that I don't care for the hidden bunker rakes. Seemed gimmicky and a pain in the backside to extract and replace the rake.

The customer service is first rate, the clubhouse is beautiful and the course layout is strong. I highly recommend this course.

I played here on Father's Day (6/15/08) with 3 girlfriends. They gave us the Father's Day Special even though we aren't dads. The special was $45 with a $10 coupon towards lunch--so for $35 this was a super deal! Our tee time was 9:35 am and it hit 109 degrees that day but the Marshall brought us mango scented ice towels-twice! The greens were hard and fast; we played from the red tees so there was very little damage; we lost some balls in the water-ha!; the sand was not quite as soft as some courses. Our sandwiches were delicious and ready for us at the snackbar when we finished the 9th. This is an awesome course with beautiful views. We all had a fantastic time. I would definitely recommend this course and would love to come back soon for another round.

Wow, what a course. Played there on Sat. May 31st. with my good friends, fun day for all. Course was awesome, Staff was very courteous, got on at 12:15 no delay. A very beautiful course, alittle tough for first timers, fairway and greens were in great shape. Weather was not a factor at all. Will play there again.

Absolutely perfect conditions. Greens firm as expected but roll smooth. Fairways and bunkers perfect. Rough in excellent condition but very short, on some courses it would be the fairway. Lots of different types of holes, a thinking round. Unusually cool weather for end of May - $45 green fee and nobody on the course.

Played AM round (7:30) on 4/12/08 before playing the other course. I think this is the easer of the two but a test for any golfer. Greens were 10.5 to 11 and true. We come out here from all over the country about this time of the year and this course is always in great shape.

I played the Mountain View course on sunday April 20, 2008. The course is in great shape. The greens are running smoothly and about 11 on the Stimp. I would drive out there just to practice. the driving range and chipping are "great", I spent an hour and ahalf after the round just hitting balls. I lament that there is not practice facilities in the Los Angeles area that can hold a candle to those in the desert or beaumont. A great day of golf.

Played during the late afternoon for the twilight rate of $35. The course was wide open and completed play in 3 1/2 hours. The course was in fantastic shape. Could not find anything to complain about. The course is worth both the drive and money to play. One of my favorite courses. The entire staff treats you like one of the family. Being at Desert Willow makes you feel like a member of a private country club, if only only for a day.

Course is in normal summer shape, some burnt spots. Mountain Course is in better shape than Firecliff. Greens are a little slow as expected this time of year.

Come to the area each summer and try to play here each time. Showed up on the afternoon of 7-17, $35 and got right on. I usually play firecliff but decided to try mountain view, wow what a great round. course has always been in great condition even during the hot summer, with the usual slower greens that make you trust yourself to just hit it firm most of the time. Its a great layout, not overly difficult, but very fun. Played 18 in just over two hours and never saw anyone else on the course. I wish i was playing with someone cause I finally broke 80 with two bogeys and a double on the last three holes for a 79. If I lived here, which someday I may retire to this area, this would be my home course for sure. I cant say enough good things about both 18's.

Played Desert Willow Mountain View last Friday, 5/18 for the first time. Selected it partially because it is billed as being more playable then some other, more challenging courses in the area. It was a weekend getaway, my wife was playing also, and she has not been able to get out and work on her game, so I wanted her to enjoy it. Bottom line, she liked the course a lot. It is nicely lanscaped with a rolling (not hilly) quality, in very good overall condition. There was no prior notice of it, but the greens had been punched sometime recently, which was a little disconcerting. In fact, they played pretty true and the speed was OK. There is some water that comes into play, but generally nothing too tricky about the course that will bite you in the butt if you can keep it on the fairly generous fairways. As such, I did find that the holes, while not identical, had a similar quality that made some of them kind of blur together in hindsight. The course is not a pushover, but the term "relaxing round" comes to mind when I think of it -- and I didn't score particularly well on the day. The practice facilty is excellent and the unlimited warmup balls are provided with green fee. It has a nice clubhouse and the overall service was very good. It was a hot day (high 90's) and the starter came around the course offering cold towels. I definitely recommend the facility and it served my purposes for the day. For a tougher challenge, the companion Firecliff course has the reputation as a sterner test (I haven't played it).

no rakes in the traps...could it be because the sand was harder than normal?
would definitely go back at discounted rate

Good solid golf course, doesn't compare to sister course Firecliff at Desert Willow. Great condition, not a great variety of holes but none the less a very good course. Better than most.

Played today, 6/25 after playing the Firecliff course, I must say I was pissed off at the diference....Play was extremely slow, bunkers were never raked, tee boxes were crowned with torn up areas, greens were slow, bumpy and not very true. Played 6/24 on Firecliff in 3:30, walked off Mountain View after 4+ hrs and 4 holes to play....Skip this course and play Firecliff instead.

Course is in perfect shape right now except my only complaint is that there are a lot of ball marks on the greens. Course is a little expensive this time of the year.

Great course! Greens are a little slow right now due to the length that they are kept in the summer.
