played here yesterday for the first time twice. the course has a great layout and many "picturesque" par 3's. its not that difficult, its fun vacation golf. many tee boxes were fairly chewed up. there were a few tournaments going on so that could explain it. the greens dry up quite a bit in the afternoon but still will not run fast. make sure you hit your putts hard enough here. overall i enjoyed the course quite a bit, and would love to return.

Played in Sept to get the last of the Summer rate. Very nice folks, except the counter man at the Pro Shop. Course was in very good shape. Lots of water! The problem is, yiou can't see a lot of it until you get over the little humps and hills. REALLY check your GPS image before teeing off on each hole! The GPS seemed a little inaccurate compared with the card or posted yardages. Trap sand was a strange consistency. Fluffy and wet at the same time. A consistent course design characteristic is to create a lot of terrain mounding and elevation change in the 100 yards in front of the green. I recommend hitting to the 100 rather than dumping a full driver or approach shot up near the green.

Played here on Saturday of Labor Day weekend as a part of my stay and (unlimited) play package. The Palms was in better shape than the Valley overall, but the Palm greens were pretty sandy.

Pace of play was fantastic on both courses--no round was longer than 4 hours.

Tee boxes were beat up a bit

Fairways were very nice I thought (although the Valley course had a lot of bad spots)

Pro shop and starters were excellent.

Cart girl was very frequent and nice.

Enjoyable time despite the heat. I just love staying at a resort and simply "getting out" whenever I feel like it. Definitely worth the trip if you get a good package deal like mine ($200 per night + unlimited golf--the room and pool were nice also).

The Palms course is the better of the 2 in my opinion. The greens right now are better on this side as well. This is a fun course to play with its variety of water holes.

Played Fri 6/6 4pm teeoff, Sun 6/8, 7:30 shotgun. course is in it's best shape since the past 4 years at this time of year. greens are smooth and not painfully slow, just palm springs summer resort golf slow, but they are smooth. the rest of the course in great shape. busy on friday... tons of tourneys this weekend, including the one i was in. pool scene awesome! tee off early, hit the pool after. not too hot... forecast for 110, but didn't hit 100.

Great experience. Course is in almost perfect condition. Greens were slower than expected, but in great shape. Pace of play was very good also. It is definitively worth the green fee. Can't wait to play it again...!

Played Company event, have to say I would have paid my own way. Nice course all around. Staff was a little belligerent.

Really enjoyed the course. $30 with the Red Dot. Course was in much better shape then last time I played. Tee boxes did have some damage to some of them, fairways were in great shape and greens were firm and SLOW. The sand was moist from overnight watering, but seemed like it would be nice once it dried out. The pace was good, for this course, 4.5 hours. We saw the cart girl numerous times. Tough but enjoyable par three's. 16, 17 and 18 are great finishing holes. Ball placement is key.

Played sun 6/3, 7:30 shotgun. Love this course. It's in great shape. Greens are medium, not painfully slow like they can be. about 100 degrees when we walked off the course. Management is great. they know how to run a tourney. Hotel is remodeled lobby, huge lobby full bar and a small sushi bar. come here in June. Bachelorette party central. The pool scene is insane!

Played both resort courses at the Desert Springs and I believe both are great. The Palm is a bit more flat with more dramatic water features. The Valley has more slight elevation changes with wide open fairways. Both courses are immaculate with my only quip being the sand was a little clumpy due to the heavy water needed during the heat. Overall, both make for a quick, enjoyable, and relaxing round. However, if forced to only pick one to play, I would chose the Palm.

Excellent course. A resort type layout golf course. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens, were in excellent condition. A great practice facility. Driving range on grass, chipping area, and several putting greens. A very fun track. A pretty course with great maintenance and water on several holes. Proper ball placement comes into play on several holes. The course will still be forgiving enough to let it rip at times. Several sets of tees for all ability levels. One of the best in the desert. I would play here any day.

The greens are horrible and the valley course not much better. We had 28 golfers come in from all over the country. We had planned this for over a year. We show up and are told of some kind of pump problem and that the greens on the palm are unplayable. J.W. Marriott never called the group to warn us of this problem. The attitude was oh well,They really could care less about there paying customers! We will never go back or recommend this facility to anyone. I dont buy the broken pump excuse, as the course is green as green. I think the course superintendent screwed up.

played fathers day 6/18 and was very disapointed. have been golfing here since 92 when i bought my desert springs timeshare. the greens we're the worst i've ever seen them harldly any grass on all 18 holes!! cart guys said the problem was in a irrigation pump that went down having to get the water from another source which wasn't treated as well as other water source-they said greens we're going to be re-sodded and ready by mid-july. we'll see. for now head for marriott shadow ridge course which is just about 10 minutes away.

Played 6/4, sunday. This course is much better than the Valley, so much more interesting. HOT. 110, they say. Stay hydrated, put wet towel over your head, find shade, I had a mister, Stay HYDRATED, then it only felt like 95... seriously.

I like this course. In good shape. Greens are decent speed, challenging, but not ridiculous. Typical desert resort golf. If you play in June, be sure to hang out by the pool!!

This is the third year out of the last four that my group of twenty or so makes its summer trip to the desert. We showed up on Sunday afternoon 6-19 thinking that the weekend crowd was leaving, we were wrong. The whole week was extremely slow play due to a tourney going on so they placed everyone on the other 18. The course was in great shape with of course slow greens for the summer. Once you get used to them, they putt true. I prefer this course over the Valley due to the scenery but both are fair with wide fairways. The resort is wonderful but it seems that the summer rates and packages that were once not well known, have become very popular.

They restrict your taking an ice chest on the course even though temp will be over 100 by the time you finish. If they want to restrict you taking your own drinks on the course that is fine, but to forse you to take ice out i a paper bucket that melts by hole 4 and no drink cart in sight is rediculous... The course is well maintained and never had to wait on another foursome. I would definetly play course again.

Played the weekend of 6/25 for my club's championship. Course is great, from tee to green. Only problem were greens were super slow, golf shop tip, putt to two feet past the hole. Also service is unbelievable.

Played on Saturday June 4th and payed only $25 witht the Red Dot book. My only complaint was that the pace was so darn slow. By the time we got to the third tee there were 3 groups waiting and one on the green. The group on the green was to blame as thery had a first timer pplaying and teeing off from the blues and only using irons. We saw a marshall, but he didn't do a thing about it. Other than the pace it was a great day of golf. Course is in great condition and staff are very courteous. 17 is one one nasty hole after playin in the heat all day.
