Played at 8:30 am. Stayed cool enough on the front nine then up to 110 by the turn. Surprisingly busy for this time of year, over 5 hour round. Nice facility all around. Grass practice area with good range balls included. Cooler on cart, you fill own ice and water from dispenser at cart barn. Nice challenging layout, desert style course. Advisable to bring a beater club as the washes can be hard with small pebbles. Greens were sharp and rolling true. If you are on target here you'll do fine. Not too long but premium on shot placement. I'd play again.

Played this course on 6-13-08. First time playing this course and didn't know what to expect. I had played the PGA West Stadium course last year, I had a great time.
We got a tee time at 3pm, took advantage of the twilight and summer rate of $50.00. The club house was small compared to the one at the Stadium course. When I check in, the starter seem to be in hurry to leave because we were the last group to play and wanted to close the clubhouse. They have a nice driving range and practice balls was included in the green fees, even though we didn't take advantage of it because we got there late. With the weather being around 100 degress or so, and on a week day, there was no one on the course. It's great playing with no one around rushing you. The tee boxes was in great condition, the fairways was perfect, they look like carpet out there. I was probably the best looking and best maintained course I had played on. It's a great course, not too difficult but challenging.

Booked a tee time through Golfnow.com for about $72 (including the fee). This is the first time i have played the Norman course and I really liked this one of the PGA courses. I thought the conditions were excellent (although according to Greenskeeper maintenance is scheduled for Monday although the course needs to devote its attention to the Stadium course - see my other review). There's fairways and desert so there is no rough. The fairways were excellent as was the sand which are deep bunkers.

Played April 15/08
Nice condition and a good test of golf.
50% of the bunkers appear to be for show and do not come into play.
Wouldn't rush back to play it.
Excellent practice area and driving range.

Played Friday 11/23, The course was great as I expected from tee to green. I have come here a few times before in the past. Except this time me and my buddy were paired up with another twosome that only played golf for a 1 year.

Absolutely the most under-rated course at the PGA complex. It was lush, fast, well marked, great greens, great customer service - absolutely cannot say enough about this course and its facility. Practice areas were tour caliber, the course is so fair, so playable that my 16 handicap brother-in-law fell head over heals in love with the place, even though he couldn't break 90. That is the mark of a great course!

We just played it for a second 18 on Saturday 8/11 after 18 in the Stadium course. Find it to be very nice, with several shots rolling back to the fairway after a mi sh$t . Course is in great condition specially for the heat (114f). The carts were the best of the PGA West complex.

Great course, but tough. You need to be pretty long, but accurate at the same time. The course is in great condition for being the middle of summer in the desert.

Played the PGA West Norman course on Sat. 6/24/06 and was extremely impressed. Everything about it was awesome! The fairways were perfect and the greens were very good considering the hot temps (the pro inside told me they are punching the greens on 6/26). Great desert course with unbelievable layout. Must Play!!

This is my favorite of the 3 PGAs. It has a links feel to it b/c you can play a lot of bump and runs and even putt from 10-20 yards off the greens. It has the least water but some amazing bunkers.

I totally agree with the previous review. This is a difficult course so be prepared. The condition of the course was excellent and the staff was very helpful.

Played on 4/24/06 - Tough Course!! This is target golf for sure. If you are not accurate don't play this course. Plus, don't bring out your driver. I love my driver and hit it pretty long, but the ball will roll and roll and sometimes roll right into the water or the waste areas. This course reminds me of the Bridges in San Ramon, but instead of the valleys you get waste areas. Its a great course, but tough. It challenges you in your iron game rather than your length. Good course, but you better bring your iron game.

this course is a true desert layout. Long from the back tees. Has plenty of water on a lot of holes. Must hit straight and long to score well. I felt that this course was much greener then the other pga west courses

My family and I go to La Quinta every June and play on the all you can play package that includes the La Quinta courses (Dunes & Mountain) and PGA West courses (Nicklaus Tournament, Stadium & Norman). In the past, we have stayed away from the Norman largely due to the fact that we played it right after it first opened. My Dad, two brothers and I are all single digit handicappers, but the first few times we played this course, we could barely finish it was so difficult. After staying away for a couple of years we played it four rounds in early June. This is now my favorite course out of the five. They have done a tremendous job of widening the fairways and making it so you can play / find your ball in the desert. Before, they had wild flowers growing right off the fairway that made balls dissappear. The layout is awesome and the conditioning is far superior to any of the other courses at PGA West or La Quinta. I highly recommend this course
